Opis:
A development of high-performance materials for electronics, optics, ceramics fabrication is restrained by traditional modes of their production. Basic technologies for materials include high-temperature physical and chemical processes and require special conditions to attain desired properties of final products. Advanced preparation methods for materials with new features are feasible on the basis of colloid-chemical processes and nanochemistry. In this respect the sol-to-gel transformation followed by solidification and chemical modification are of great interest to attain a variety of different functional properties of materials.

Opis:
Charmonium production in heavy ion collisions is considered as an important diagnostic probe for studying the phase diagram of strongly interacting matter for potential phase transitions. The interpretation of existing data from the CERN SPS is hampered by a lack of knowledge on the properties of open charm particle production in the fireball. Moreover, open charm production in heavy ion collisions by itself is poorly understood. To overcome this obstacle, the NA61/SHINE was equipped with a Small Acceptance Vertex Detector (SAVD), which is predicted to make the experiment sensitive to open charm mesons produced in A-A collisions at the SPS top energy. This paper will introduce the concept and the hardware of the SAVD. Moreover, first running experience as obtained in a commissioning run with a 150 AGeV/c Pb+Pb collision system will be reported.

Opis:
The study of open charm meson production provides an efficient tool for the investigation of the properties of hot and dense matter formed in nucleus–nucleus collisions. The interpretation of the existing di-muon data from the CERN SPS suffers from a lack of knowledge on the mechanism and properties of the open charm particle production. Due to this, the heavy-ion programme of the NA61/SHINE experiment at the CERN SPS has been extended by precise measurements of charm hadrons with short lifetimes. A new Vertex Detector for measurements of the rare processes of open charm production in nucleus–nucleus collisions was designed to meet the challenges of track registration and high resolution in primary and secondary vertex reconstruction. A small-acceptance version of the vertex detector was installed in 2016 and tested with Pb + Pb collisions at 150 A GeV / c. It was also operating during the physics data taking on Xe + La and Pb + Pb collisions at 150 A GeV / c conducted in 2017 and 2018. This paper presents the detector design and construction, data calibration, event reconstruction, and analysis procedure.

Opis:
This paper presents the energy dependence of multiplicity and net-electric charge fluctuations in p+p interactions at beam momenta 20, 31, 40, 80, and 158 GeV/c. Results are corrected for the experimental biases and quantified with the use of cumulants and factorial cumulants. Cumulant ratios are an essential tool in the search for the critical point of strongly interacting matter in heavy ion collisions. Measurements performed in p+p interactions provide a vital baseline estimation in these studies. The measured signals are compared with the string hadronic models Epos1.99 and FTFP-BERT.

Opis:
Strong interactions preserve an approximate isospin symmetry between up (u) and down (d) quarks, part of the more general flavor symmetry. In the case of K meson production, if this isospin symmetry were exact, it would result in equal numbers of charged (K$^{+}$ and K$^{−}$) and neutral (K$^{0}$ and $\overline{K}^{0}$) mesons produced in collisions of isospin-symmetric atomic nuclei. Here, we report results on the relative abundance of charged over neutral K meson production in argon and scandium nuclei collisions at a center-of-mass energy of 11.9 GeV per nucleon pair. We find that the production of K$^{+}$ and K$^{−}$ mesons at mid-rapidity is (18.4 ± 6.1)% higher than that of the neutral K mesons. Although with large uncertainties, earlier data on nucleus-nucleus collisions in the collision center-of-mass energy range 2.6 < $\sqrt{s_{NN}}$ < 200 GeV are consistent with the present result. Using well-established models for hadron production, we demonstrate that known isospin-symmetry breaking effects and the initial nuclei containing more neutrons than protons lead only to a small (few percent) deviation of the charged-to-neutral kaon ratio from unity at high energies. Thus, they cannot explain the measurements. The significance of the flavor-symmetry violation beyond the known effects is 4.7σ when the compilation of world data with uncertainties quoted by the experiments is used. New systematic, high-precision measurements and theoretical efforts are needed to establish the origin of the observed large isospin-symmetry breaking.

Opis:
The NA61/SHINE experiment at the CERN Super Proton Synchrotron studies the onset of deconfinement in strongly interacting matter through a beam energy scan of particle production in collisions of nuclei of varied sizes. This paper presents results on inclusive double-differential spectra, transverse momentum and rapidity distributions and mean multiplicities of $\pi^{\pm}$, $K^{\pm }$, p and $\bar{p}$ spectra in $^{40}$Ar+$^{45}$Sc collisions at beam momenta of 13A, 19A, 30A, 40A, 75A and 150A GeV/c. The analysis uses the 10% most central collisions, where the observed forward energy defines centrality. The energy dependence of the $K^{\pm }$/$\pi^{\pm}$ ratios as well as of inverse slope parameters of the $K^{\pm }$ transverse mass distributions are placed in between those found in inelastic p + p and central Pb + Pb collisions. The results obtained here establish a system-size dependence of hadron production properties that so far cannot be explained either within statistical or dynamical models.

Opis:
This paper presents multiplicity measurements of charged hadrons produced in 120 GeV / c proton-carbon interactions. The measurements were made using data collected at the NA61/SHINE experiment during two different data-taking periods, with increased phase space coverage in the second configuration due to the addition of new subdetectors. Particle identification via dE/dx was employed to obtain double-differential production multiplicities of $\pi^{+}$, $\pi^{-}$, $p$, $\bar{p}$, $K^{+}$ and $K^{-}$. These measurements are presented as a function of laboratory momentum in intervals of laboratory polar angle covering the range from 0 to 450 mrad. They provide crucial inputs for current and future long-baseline neutrino experiments, where they are used to estimate the initial neutrino flux.

Opis:
The yields of $K^{0}_{S}$ mesons have been measured in inelastic p+p interactions at incident projectile momenta of 31, 40 and 80 GeV/c ($\sqrt{S_{NN}}$ = 7.7, 8.8 and 12.3 GeV, respectively). The data were recorded by the NA61 / SHINE spectrometer at the CERN Super Proton Synchrotron and the $K^{0}_{S}$ mesons identified via their decays into $\pi^{+}\pi^{-}$ pairs. Double-differential distributions are presented as function of transverse momentum and rapidity. The mean multiplicities of $K^{0}_{S}$ mesons were determined to be $(5.95 \pm 0.19(stat) \pm 0.30(sys)) \times 10^{-2}$ at 31 GeV/c, $(7.61 \pm 0.13(stat) \pm 0.43(sys)) \times 10^{-2}$ at 40 GeV/c and $(11.58 \pm 0.12(stat) \pm 0.55(sys)) \times 10^{-2}$ at 80 GeV/c. The results on $K^{0}_{S}$ production are compared with the production of charged kaons in corresponding reactions and with model calculations (Epos1.99, SMASH 2.0 and PHSD) as well as with published data from other experiments.

Opis:
This paper reports measurements of two-pion femtoscopic correlations in Be+Be collisions at a beam momentum of 150 A GeV/c (energy available in the center-of-mass system for nucleon pair $\sqrt{^{s}NN}$ = 16.84 GeV) by the NA61/SHINE experiment at the CERN SPS accelerator. The obtained momentum space correlation functions can be well described by a Lévy distributed source model. The transverse mass dependence of the Lévy source parameters is presented, and their possible theoretical interpretations are discussed. The results show that the Lévy exponent $\alpha$ is approximately constant as a function of m$_{T}$, and far from both the Gaussian case of $\alpha$ = 2 or the conjectured value at the critical endpoint, $\alpha$ = 0.5. The radius scale parameter R shows a slight decrease in m$_{T}$, which can be explained as a signature of transverse flow. Finally, an approximately constant trend of the intercept parameter $\lambda$ as a function of m$_{T}$ was observed, similar to previous NA44 S + Pb results (obtained with a Gaussian approximation, but unlike RHIC results).

Opis:
The critical point of strongly interacting matter is searched for at the CERN SPS by the NA61/SHINE experiment in central $^{40}$Ar + $^{45}$Sc collisions at 13 A, 19 A, 30 A, 40 A, and 75 A GeV/c. The dependence of the second-order scaled factorial moments of proton multiplicity distributions on the number of subdivisions in transverse momentum space is measured. The intermittency analysis uses statistically independent data sets for every subdivision in transverse and cumulative-transverse momentum variables. The results obtained do not indicate the searched intermittent pattern. An upper limit on the fraction of correlated protons and the intermittency index is obtained based on a comparison with the Power-law Model.
