Opis:
The present paper deals with an analysis of the combined effect of Joule heating and viscous dissipation on an MHD boundary layer flow and melting heat transfer of a micro polar fluid over a stretching surface. Governing equations of the problem are transformed into a set of coupled nonlinear ordinary differential equations by applying proper transformations and then they are solved numerically using the RKF-45 method. The method is verified by a comparison with the established results with limiting solution. The influence of the various interesting parameters on the flow and heat transfer is analyzed in detail through plotted graphs.

Opis:
The work deals with the heat analysis of generalized Burgers nanofluid over a stretching sheet. The Rosseland approximation is used to model the non-linear thermal radiation and incorporated non-uniform heat source/sink effect. The governing equations reduced to a set of nonlinear ordinary differential equations under considering the suitable similarity transformations. The obtained ordinary differential equations equations are solved numerically by Runge-Kutta-Fehlberg order method. The effect of important parameters on velocity, temperature and concentration distributions are analyzed and discussed through the graphs. It reveals that temperature increases with the increase of radiation and heat source/sink parameter.

Opis:
An unsteady flow and melting heat transfer of a nanofluid over a stretching sheet was numerically studied by considering the effect of chemical reaction and thermal radiation. The governing non-linear partial differential equations describing the flow problem are reduced to a system of non-linear ordinary differential equations using the similarity transformations and solved numerically using the Runge–Kutta–Fehlberg fourth–fifth order method. Numerical results for concentration, temperature and velocity profiles are shown graphically and discussed for different physical parameters. Effect of pertinent parameters on momentum, temperature and concentration profiles along with local Sherwood number, local skin-friction coefficient and local Nusselt number are well tabulated and discussed.

Opis:
Feeder reconfiguration (FR), capacitor placement and sizing (CPS) are the two renowned methods widely applied by the researchers for loss minimization with node voltage enrichment in the electrical distribution network (EDN), which has an immense impact on economic savings. In recent years, optimization of FR and CPS together can proficiently yield better power loss minimization and save costs compared to the individual optimization of FR and CPS. This work proposes an application of an improved salp swarm optimization technique based on weight factor (ISSOT-WF) to solve the cost-based objective function using CPS with and without FR for five different cases and three load levels, subject to satisfying operating constraints. In addition, to ascertain the impact of real power injection on additional power loss reduction, this work considers the integration of dispersed generation units at three optimal locations in capacitive compensated optimal EDN. The effectiveness of ISSOT-WF has been demonstrated on the standard PG&E-69 bus system and the outcomes of the 69-bus test case have been validated by comparing with other competing algorithms. Using FR and CPS at three optimal nodes and due to power loss reduction, cost-saving reached up to a maximum of 71%, and a maximum APLR of 26% was achieved after the installation of DGs at three optimal locations with the significant improvement in the bus voltage profile.

Opis:
The stretching sheets with variable thickness may occur in engineering applications more frequently than a flat sheet. Due to its various applications, in the present analysis we considered a three dimensional unsteady MHD nanofluid flow over a stretching sheet with a variable wall thickness in a porous medium. The effects of radiation, viscous dissipation and slip boundary conditions are considered. Buongiorno’s model is incorporated to study the combined effects of thermophoresis and Brownian motion. The dimensionless governing equations are solved by using MATLAB bvp4c package. The impact of various important flow parameters is presented and analysed through graphs and tables. It is interesting to note that all the three boundary layer thicknesses are diminished by slip parameters. Further, the unsteady parameter decreases the hydromagnetic boundary layer thickness.

Opis:
Garment Manufacturing is one of the oldest in the world, compromising a high number of critical operations. The main issues in the garment industry are the lead time, production rate, very poor line balancing and fabric wastes. Productivity improvement is carried out by implementing the various lean tools in the industry, such as 5S, Value Stream Mapping (VSM) and line balancing in the sewing section. After the implementation of lean tools in the garment industry, the outcomes observed are a reduction in work-in-progress inventory, increases in the production process and increased line efficiency. Similarly the before and after implementation of 5S, which shows space utilisation in the sewing section, is increased. In this research, an implementation study was conducted in only one organisation. Hence the results extracted by the conduct of this implementation study are achievable and adaptable in similar organisations.

Opis:
Theoretical velocities of binary liquid mixtures of 1-bromopropane with chlorobenzene at 2 MHz and four different temperatures 303.15, 308.15, 313.15 and 318.15 K, have been evaluated as a function of concentration and temperature. The experimental values are compared with theoretical models of liquid mixtures such as Nomoto, Van Dael-Vangeel, Impedance Relation, Rao’s Specific Velocity Method, Junjie’s relations and Free Length Theory. In the chosen system there is a good agreement between experimental and theoretical values calculated by Nomoto’s theory. The deviation in the variation of U2exp/ U2imx from unity has also been evaluated for explaining the non ideality in the mixtures. The results are explained in terms of intermolecular interactions occurring in these binary liquid mixtures.

Opis:
Ultrasonic velocities (U), densities (ρ), and coefficient of viscosities (η) are measured for binary mixtures containing (i) p-chlorotoluene and (ii) benzene at 303.15 K, 308.15 K, 313.15 K and 318.15 K to understand the molecular interaction. Various acoustical parameters such as adiabatic compressibility (βad), free length (Lf), acoustic impedance (Z), free volume (Vf), molar volume (Vm), Rao’s constant (R), Wada’s constant (W) and internal pressure (πi), are calculated from the measured values of U, ρ, and η. The trend in acoustical parameters also substantiates to asses strong molecular interactions.

Opis:
This paper reports on a Butacene® based composite propellant with high burning rate. The effect of replacing HTPB with Butacene® on the physical, mechanical and ballistic properties, and sensitivity towards impact and friction, has been studied. The ballistic properties were evaluated as burning rates at various pressures (7-11 MPa), pressure exponents, ignition temperatures etc. As expected, a remarkable enhancement in burning rate at low pressures was observed with increasing percentage of Butacene®. Comparatively lower n-values were observed for compositions containing Butacene® than for HTPB based propellants. The sensitivity of Butacene® based compositions, in terms of impact and friction, was found to be increased with an increasing percentage of Butacene®.
