Opis:
BACKGROUND: A systematic review and meta-analysis of all available publications was performed to evaluate the diagnostic accuracy of percutaneous transthoracic needle biopsy (PTNB) using a C-Arm Cone-Beam CT (CBCT) system in patients with lung nodules. MATERIAL AND METHODS: Thedatabases of PUBMED, OVID, EBSCO, EMBASE, and China National Knowledge Infrastructure (CNKI) were systematically searched for relevant original articles on the diagnostic accuracy of CBCT-guided PTNB for the diagnosis of nodules in the lungs. Diagnostic indices including sensitivity, specificity, positive likelihood ratio (PLR), negative likelihood ratio (NLR), diagnostic odds ratio (DOR) and diagnostic score (DS) were calculated. Moreover, summary receiver operating characteristic curves (SROC) were constructed with Stata (version 13.0), Rev Man (version 5.3), and Meta-disc (version 1.4) software. Other clinical indices such as incidence of complications were also recorded. RESULTS: Eight studies met the inclusion and exclusion criteria for the meta-analysis. The pooled sensitivity, specificity, PLR, NLR, DOR, DS, and SROC with 95% confidence intervals were 0.96 (0.93-0.98), 1.00 (0.91-1.00), 711.15 (9.48-53325.89), 0.04 (0.02-0.07), 16585.29 (284.88-9.7e+05), 9.72 (5.65-13.78), and 0.99 (0.97-0.99), respectively. The incidence of pneumothorax and hemorrhage was 10-29.27% and 1.22-47.25%, respectively. CONCLUSIONS: CBCT-guided PTNBhas an acceptable rate of complications and is associated with a reasonable radiation exposure. Moreover, it is a highly accurate and safe technique for the diagnosis of lung nodules and can be recommended to be used in routine clinical practice.

Opis:
A graph G is said to be chromatic-choosable if ch(G) = χ(G). Ohba has conjectured that every graph G with 2χ(G)+1 or fewer vertices is chromatic-choosable. It is clear that Ohba's conjecture is true if and only if it is true for complete multipartite graphs. In this paper we show that Ohba's conjecture is true for complete multipartite graphs $K_{4,3*t,2*(k-2t-2),1*(t+1)}$ for all integers t ≥ 1 and k ≥ 2t+2, that is, $ch(K_{4,3*t,2*(k-2t-2),1*(t+1)}) = k$, which extends the results $ch(K_{4,3,2*(k-4),1*2}) = k$ given by Shen et al. (Discrete Math. 308 (2008) 136-143), and $ch(K_{4,3*2,2*(k-6),1*3}) = k$ given by He et al. (Discrete Math. 308 (2008) 5871-5877).

Opis:
Objectives Objectives: Cigarette smoking is the major risk factor of bladder cancer via exposure to chemical carcinogens. Nicotinamide adenine dinucleotide phosphate (NADP+): quinine oxidoreductase 1 (NQO1) and sulfotransferase 1A1 (SULT1A1) have been reported to involve in the metabolism of polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons (PAHs) and aromatic amines. Therefore, the risk of bladder cancer (BC) may be influenced by polymorphisms in the genes that modulate metabolic detoxification in particular by interacting with cigarette smoking. Considering the limited power by the individual studies with a relatively small sample size, especially when analyzing the combined effect of polymorphisms in NQO1 and SULT1A1 genes and smoking, these 2 meta-analyses have aimed to clarify the combined effects of them on BC risk by integrating related studies. Material and Methods Two meta-analyses included 1341 cases and 1346 controls concerning NQO1 Pro187Ser and smoking, and 1921 cases and 1882 controls on SULT1A1 Arg213His and smoking were performed. Odds ratios (OR) and 95% confidence intervals (CI) were used for assessing the strength of the association. Results The result has demonstrated that smokers with NQO1 Pro/Ser or Ser/Ser genotypes have a prominent association with the risk of BC as compared with non-smokers with NQO1 Pro/Pro genotype, with OR equal to 3.71 (95% CI: 2.87–4.78, $ \text{p}_\text{heterogeneity} $ = 0.376). Besides, smokers carrying SULT1A1 Arg/Arg genotypes were observed to confer 2.38 fold increased risk of BC (95% CI: 1.44–3.93, $ \text{p}_\text{heterogeneity} $ = 0.001) when compared with non-smokers with SULT1A1 Arg/Arg or His/His genotypes. Conclusions These findings have suggested that the NQO1 Pro187Ser or SULT1A1 Arg213His polymorphism combination with smoking significantly confer susceptibility to BC. Opis:
Human STAU1 is one member of the family of double-stranded RNA (dsRNA)-binding proteins. It is thought to function in transporting mRNA, controlling translation and eliciting mRNA decay in neurons, and to function in infection of influenza virus and human immunodeficiency virus type 1 (HIV-1). Four transcripts coding two isoforms have been identified before. In this study, we have isolated a novel transcript of STAU1, coding a novel isoform that has six amino acids more (SFPLKQ) than isoform a. In order to examine the tissue distribution of this novel isoform, we have performed RT-PCR experiments and the analysis showed that it was highly expressed in heart, liver, kidney and pancreas.

Opis:
The Compressed Baryonic Matter (CBM) experiment at the future Facility for Antiproton and Ion Research (FAIR) is a heavy-ion experiment designed to study nuclear matter at the highest baryonic density. For high-statistics measurements of rare probes, collision rates of up to 10 MHz are targeted. The experiment, therefore, requires fast and radiation-hard detectors, self-triggered detector front-ends, free-streaming readout architecture, and online event reconstruction. The Silicon Tracking System (STS) is the main tracking detector of CBM, designed to reconstruct the trajectories of charged particles with efficiency larger than 95%, a relative momentum uncertainty better than 2% for particle momenta larger than 1 GeV/c inside a 1 Tm magnetic field, and to identify complex decay topologies. It comprises 876 double-sided silicon strip modules arranged in 8 tracking stations. A prototype of this detector, consisting of 12 modules arranged in three tracking stations, is installed in the mini-CBM demonstrator. This experimental setup is a small-scale precursor to the full CBM detector, composed of sub-units of all major CBM systems installed on the SIS18 beamline. In various beam campaigns taken between 2021 and 2024, heavy ion collisions at 1–2 AGeV with an average collision rate of 500 kHz have been recorded. This allows for the evaluation of the operational performance of the STS detector, including signal-to-noise ratio, charge distribution, time and position resolution, hit reconstruction efficiency, and its potential for track and vertex reconstruction.
