Opis:
Define the zeroth-order Randić index as \(R^0(G)=∑_{x∈V(G)} \frac{1}{\sqrt{d_G(x)}}\), where $d_G(x)$ denotes the degree of the vertex $x$. In this paper, we present two sufficient conditions for graphs and triangle-free graphs, respectively, to be super edge-connected in terms of the zeroth-order Randić index.

Opis:
Suppose $ G = (V,E) $ is a graph with no isolated vertex. A subset $ S $ of $ V $ is called a locating-total dominating set of $ G $ if every vertex in $ V $ is adjacent to a vertex in $ S $, and for every pair of distinct vertices $ u $ and $ v $ in $ V − S $, we have $ N(u) \cap S \ne N(v) \cap S $. The locating-total domination number of $G$, denoted by $ \gamma_t^L (G) $, is the minimum cardinality of a locating-total dominating set of $G$. The annihilation number of $G$, denoted by $a(G)$, is the largest integer $k$ such that the sum of the first $k$ terms of the nondecreasing degree sequence of $G$ is at most the number of edges in $G$. In this paper, we show that for any tree of order $ n \ge 2$, $ \gamma_t^L (T) \le a(T) + 1 $ and we characterize the trees achieving this bound.

Opis:
Given a graph $G = (V, E)$ with no isolated vertex, a subset $S$ of $V$ is called a total dominating set of $G$ if every vertex in $V$ has a neighbor in $S$. A total dominating set $S$ is called a locating-total dominating set if for each pair of distinct vertices $u$ and $v$ in $V \ S, N(u) ∩ S ≠ N(v) ∩ S$. The minimum cardinality of a locating-total dominating set of $G$ is the locating-total domination number, denoted by $γ_t^L(G)$. We show that, for a tree $T$ of order $n ≥ 3$ and diameter $d$, \(\frac{d+1}{2}≤γ_t^L(T)≤n−\frac{d−1}{2}\), and if $T$ has $l$ leaves, $s$ support vertices and $s_1$ strong support vertices, then \(γ_t^L(T)≥max\Big\{\frac{n+l−s+1}{2}−\frac{s+s_1}{4},\frac{2(n+1)+3(l−s)−s_1}{5}\Big\}\). We also characterize the extremal trees achieving these bounds.

Opis:
Infrasound signal classification is vital in geological hazard monitoring systems. The traditional classification approach extracts the features and classifies the infrasound events. However, due to the manual feature extraction, its classification performance is not satisfactory. To deal with this problem, this paper presents a classification model based on variational mode decomposition (VMD) and convolutional neural network (CNN). Firstly, the infrasound signal is processed by VMD to eliminate the noise. Then fast Fourier transform (FFT) is applied to convert the reconstructed signal into a frequency domain image. Finally, a CNN model is established to automatically extract the features and classify the infrasound signals. The experimental results show that the classification accuracy of the proposed classification model is higher than the other model by nearly 5%. Therefore, the proposed approach has excellent robustness under noisy environments and huge potential in geophysical monitoring.

Opis:
A diagnostic technique based on independent component analysis (ICA), fast Fourier transform (FFT), and support vector machine (SVM) is suggested for effectively extracting signal features in infrasound signal monitoring. Firstly, ICA is proposed to separate the source signals of mixed infrasound sources. Secondly, FFT is used to obtain the feature vectors of infrasound signals. Finally, SVM is used to classify the extracted feature vectors. The approach integrates the advantages of ICA in signal separation and FFT to extract the feature vectors. An experiment is conducted to verify the benefits of the proposed approach. The experiment results demonstrate that the classification accuracy is above 98.52% and the run time is only 2.1 seconds. Therefore, the proposed strategy is beneficial in enhancing geophysical monitoring performance.

Opis:
Dysregulated lipid metabolism in liver is an important hallmark of non-alcoholic fatty liver disease (NAFLD), which may be modulated by dietary polyphenols or microRNAs (miRNAs). However, the underlying epigenetic regulatory mechanism of polyphenols remain unclear. The current study aimed to address how miRNA mediates hepatic lipid metabolic control of curcumin, a polyphenolic food supplement. The results showed that 24 h treatment with 5 - 20 μM curcumin prevented free fatty acid-induced lipid accumulation by around 10 ~ 50% in HepG2 cells, which was attenuated by pre-transfection with 40 nM miR-22-3p mimic for 48 h. In consequence, transfection with 40 nM miR-22-3p inhibitor for 48 h significantly reduced lipid accumulation by around 10%. And 48 h overexpression of miR-22-3p targeting cardiolipin synthase 1 (CRLS1) gene, which encodes a mitochondrial phospholipid synthase, showed a similar regulatory effect. Thus, miR-22-3p and CRLS1 showed opposite effects in modulating lipid metabolism, which probably involved mitochondrial control. In summary, this study demonstrated that curcumin improved hepatic lipid metabolism via targeting the miR-22-3p/CRLS1 pathway. Identification of the epigenetic regulatory mechanism underlying lipid metabolism may thereby facilitate alleviation of metabolic disorders by natural polyphenols.
