Opis:: The paper presents the main theoretical concepts related to methods of calculating the erosion rate for sandy dunes on natural coasts, namely, the beach equilibrium profile and incident waves. To illustrate calculations of dune erosion in the vicinity of the Coastal Research Station (CRS) in Lubiatowo, the Xbeach model (an incident wave model) was used. The calculations were carried out for hydrological and hydrodynamic conditions that accompanied Hurricane Ksawery (December 6–8, 2013). The results of the calculations were compared with the measured data. A satisfactory agreement was obtained between the predicted and measured results.

Opis:: Fatigue behaviour is one of the most important properties of modern airplanes and rivets influence it strongly. According to the literature, the NACA riveting offers a multiple increase in the fatigue life of joints. The aim of this paper is to investigate the benefits offered by the NACA riveting procedure with respect to the residual stress and strain distribution after riveting as well as rivet hole expansion. Experimental and numerical approaches were adopted. The conventional riveting with both the universal and countersunk rivets was compared with the NACA riveting. The countersunk angle and depth in the case of the NACA riveting was modified somewhat relative to the values met in the literature. For these three cases, strain gauge measurements during riveting, hole expansion measurements and FE calculations were performed. The hole expansion measurement with the use of Computer Tomography(CT) was proposed. Only the FE calculations unambiguously indicate better fatigue properties of the NACA riveting. The proposed method of hole expansion measurement requires further research to increase its accuracy.

Opis:: The Czerwona Woda River is the main watercourse in the Stołowe Mountains National Park and drains the major part of the Stołowe Mts. It was regulated in the past, but its channel has been spontaneously naturalized. Now, managed spruce forests grow along almost the entire length of this small mountain stream. The aims of the present study were to investigate diversity of plant communities connected with the Czerwona Woda stream and to prepare detailed vegetation maps. The results obtained can potentially be a reference for future restoration projects implemented in the Stołowe Mountains National Park. As a result of vegetation mapping, there were distinguished 20 plant communities representative of the current vegetation and 3 communities representative of the potential vegetation. Phytosociological data on the vegetation was documented by making 62 phytosociological relevés. Based on these, 9 forest communities were distinguished, of which 3 were classified into associations, 1 – into alliance, 5 – into secondary forest communities. Furthermore, there were distinguished 14 non-forest communities, of which 10 were classified into associations. Several of the phytosociological classes distinguished have been reported for the first time in the Stołowe Mountains National Park.
