Opis:
The concept of different compositional biomass is introduced to enhance the binding properties and utilize the use of different seasonal biomasses. The effect of densification on the heating values of single pure and mixed compositional biomasses is observed with and without applying special type of pretreatment named as ‘Torrefaction’. The moisture contents and bulk densities were also calculated for these briquettes. The effects of average moisture contents and bulk density (which show the swelling nature) on the heating values are also observed. The experiments have been performed on the pelletizer equipment to form briquetted biomass and bomb calorimeter was used to determine the calorific values of different briquettes. Finally, the percentage decrease in the average moisture contents of different categories of torrefied briquettes from non-torrefied briquettes were also calculated and compared.

Opis:
Typical textile waste water contains a high concentration of spent dye that can pose serious destructive impact on aquatic environment. Therefore, treatment of textile industry effluents is strictly imposed by the relevant government authorities and environmental protection agencies. During present studies, spent dye was removed using potato starch, an environmental friendly, biodegradable and cost effective coagulant, through coagulation/flocculation process. Analysis of variance (ANOVA) was performed that indicated the interaction of process parameters. It was observed that the interaction of temperature, pH and coagulant dosage were the most significant parameters that can affect the coagulation/flocculation process. So, temperature, pH and coagulant dosage were optimized by Taguchi optimization technique. The results indicated that maximum dye (about 27%) was removed when temperature, pH and coagulant dosage were kept at 55°C, 10 and 0.5% (w/v), respectively.

Opis:
Various siliceous agriculture waste (SAW) such as rice husk, wheat husk and bagasse have been investigated to study their thermal degradation behavior using Thermogravimetric Analyzer (TGA) technique. The focus of this research is to conduct TGA of raw and acid treated (20% HCl & 1M H2SO4) SAW at heating rate 10°C/min in the atmosphere of nitrogen. The results were analyzed on the basis of thermograms and it was inferred that 24 hours soaking with 20% HCl prior to thermal degradation enhanced the percent weight loss. The process also improved the percentage of residual weight of SAW indicating the extraction of amorphous silica with increased purity. The effect of acid treatment was verified by determining chemical composition of SAW samples before and after soaking with 20% HCl. Proximate analysis, thermal degradation temperature ranges and percentage of residual weight at 800°C for each of rice husk, wheat husk and bagasse were also quantified to observe the thermal degradation behavior. XRF analysis was performed to observe the effect of acid treatment for extraction of pure silica.

Opis:
$Cd_{5}Se_{95-x}Zn_{x}$ (x=0, 2, 4, 6) chalcogenide semiconductors were prepared by conventional melt-quenching and were characterized by X-ray diffraction, scanning electron microscopy, and Fourier transform infrared studies. Ac conductivity of $Cd_{5}Se_{95-x}Zn_{x}$ chalcogenide semiconductor has been investigated in the frequency range of 1 kHz-1 MHz and in the temperature range of 290-370 K. The analysis of the experimental results indicates that the ac conductivity is temperature, frequency and concentration dependent. Ac conductivity is found to obey the power law $\omega^{s}$ where s < 1. A strong dependence of ac conductivity and exponent s can be well interpreted in terms of correlated barrier hopping model. The maximum barrier height W_{m} were calculated from the results of dielectric loss according to the Guintini equation that agree with the theory of hopping of charge carriers over potential barrier as suggested by Elliot in case of chalcogenide semiconductors.

Opis:
With continuous and rapid change in both technology and businesses due to climate change and governments regulations, Green Supply Chain Management (GSCM) is receiving increasing attentions during last two decades. GSCM refers to the abilities of businesses to enhance operations and sustain environment at the same time and efficiently. In this paper, a comprehensive review of GSCM development and applications is conducted. This review aims to explore the recent developments of GSCM and necessity of adoption GSCM applications in businesses to insure sustainable development. First, a descriptive analysis of 796 paper adopted from Scopus database was conducted to review research on GSCM. Next, a bibliometric analysis of 235 paper was conducted to determine the recent trends and areas of GSCM and related keywords by using VOSviewer software. Then, a content analysis was carried out of 53 review papers by adopting WordStat software to analyze the impact of GSCM on related subjects and trends of GSCM. Finally, a summary analysis of GSCM advantages and challenges was conducted based on fundamental GSCM’s objectives. Results reveal that researches on GSCM are in upward curve with limitations in implementing GSCM applications due to high cost, and lack of sufficient experiences. Results also reveal positive moderate correlation of GSCM with environment, performance, sustainability and management practices indicating the limited implementation of GSCM applications. To further explore these limitations, this study summarized the recent challenges and future potential directions of GSCM in both businesses and environments.

Opis:
In this research the removal of sesame oil from aritifical water by Fenton process technique was investigated. The results of removal efficiency were compared with actual wastewater. Effect of time, pH, mixing speed, temperature, oil content were investigated to find the perfect circumstances. The conducted experiments revealed that the optimal conditions for this process were 160 minutes of reaction time in an acidic medium where pH was equal to 3.5, temperature was discovered to be 25 °C, the optimal mixing speed was at 500 rpm, and the Sesame oil concentration amounted to 1500 mg/l. Applying the optimal conditions for this processing, the results of compersion showed the sesame oil had a removal efficiency of 95% for the artificial wastewater in which the concentration decreased from 12800 to 68 mg/l, while the Fenton method was used to treat an actual sample of wastewater the removal efficiency is found to be 87%.

Opis:
Anxiety associated with the COVID-19 pandemic and home confinement has been associated with adverse health behaviors, such as unhealthy eating, smoking, and drinking. However, most studies have been limited by regional sampling, which precludes the examination of behavioral consequences associated with the pandemic at a global level. Further, few studies operationalized pandemic-related stressors to enable the investigation of the impact of different types of stressors on health outcomes. This study examined the association between perceived risk of COVID-19 infection and economic burden of COVID-19 with health-promoting and health-damaging behaviors using data from the PsyCorona Study: an international, longitudinal online study of psychological and behavioral correlates of COVID-19. Analyses utilized data from 7,402 participants from 86 countries across three waves of assessment between May 16 and June 13, 2020. Participants completed self-report measures of COVID-19 infection risk, COVID-19-related economic burden, physical exercise, diet quality, cigarette smoking, sleep quality, and binge drinking. Multilevel structural equation modeling analyses showed that across three time points, perceived economic burden was associated with reduced diet quality and sleep quality, as well as increased smoking. Diet quality and sleep quality were lowest among respondents who perceived high COVID-19 infection risk combined with high economic burden. Neither binge drinking nor exercise were associated with perceived COVID-19 infection risk, economic burden, or their interaction. Findings point to the value of developing interventions to address COVID-related stressors, which have an impact on health behaviors that, in turn, may influence vulnerability to COVID-19 and other health outcomes.

Opis:
Understanding the determinants of COVID-19 vaccine uptake is important to inform policy decisions and plan vaccination campaigns. The aims of this research were to: (1) explore the individual- and country-level determinants of intentions to be vaccinated against SARS-CoV-2, and (2) examine worldwide variation in vaccination intentions. This cross-sectional online survey was conducted during the first wave of the pandemic, involving 6697 respondents across 20 countries. Results showed that 72.9% of participants reported positive intentions to be vaccinated against COVID-19, whereas 16.8% were undecided, and 10.3% reported they would not be vaccinated. At the individual level, prosociality was a significant positive predictor of vaccination intentions, whereas generic beliefs in conspiracy theories and religiosity were negative predictors. Country-level determinants, including cultural dimensions of individualism/collectivism and power distance, were not significant predictors of vaccination intentions. Altogether, this study identifies individual-level predictors that are common across multiple countries, provides further evidence on the importance of combating conspiracy theories, involving religious institutions in vaccination campaigns, and stimulating prosocial motives to encourage vaccine uptake.
