Opis:
Ornithosuchidae is one of the most enigmatic clades of Triassic pseudosuchians. The group is composed by three carnivorous species that were excavated from Upper Triassic beds of Scotland and Argentina. We describe the first ornithosuchid from the Upper Triassic sediments of Brazil and explore its phylogenetic affinities and implications for the evolution of the group. Dynamosuchus collisensis gen. et sp. nov. was found as the sister taxon of the Argentinean form Venaticosuchus rusconii. These relationships reject a potential endemic radiation of ornithosuchids from the Ischigualasto-Villa Unión Basin and would better support multiple diversification events. Our findings with ornithosuchids is consistent with the pattern reported for proterochampsid and erpetosuchid archosauriforms from Ischigualasto-Villa Unión and the Paraná basins. In addition, the presence of an ornithosuchid in the Late Triassic of Brazil suggests that ornithosuchids were more widespread than previously thought in the southern hemisphere. The new ornithosuchid further demonstrates a faunistic link between the Argentinean and Brazilian basins during the Carnian. Finally, the discovery of the new species provides the first clue of a putative necrophagous vertebrate from the oldest dinosaur-bearing beds and expands our knowledge regarding the trophic structure of the Late Triassic of Brazil.

Opis:
A new basal sphenacodontid synapsid, represented by an anterior portion of a mandible, demonstrates for the first time the presence of amniotes in the largest European Permo−Carboniferous basin, the Saar−Nahe Basin. The new taxon, Cryptovenator hirschbergeri gen. et sp. nov., is autapomorphic in the extreme shortness and robustness of the lower jaw, with moderate heterodonty, including the absence of a greatly reduced first tooth and only a slight caniniform development of the second and third teeth. Cryptovenatorshares with Dimetrodon, Sphenacodon, and Ctenospondylus, but notably not with Secodontosaurus, enlarged canines and a characteristic teardrop outline of the marginal teeth in lateral view, possession of a deep symphyseal region, and a strongly concave dorsal margin of the dentary. The new find shows that sphenacodontids were present in the Saar−Nahe Basin by the latest Carboniferous, predating the record of sphenacodontid tracks from slightly younger sediments in this region.

Grain boundaries play an important role in low-field magnetoresistance of La$\text{}_{0.7}$Ca$\text{}_{0.3}$MnO$\text{}_{3}$ and La$\text{}_{0.7}$Sr$\text{}_{0.3}$MnO$\text{}_{3}$ thin films deposited by magnetron sputtering and pulsed laser deposition on YSZ(100) and silicon substrates buffered by YSZ. Well-pronounced low-field magnetoresistance hysteresis was observed in magnetic fields applied in in-plane and out-of-plane directions. High values of local magnetoresistance sensitivity d(MR)/dH in the vicinity of the coercive field were obtained reaching up to 0.2%/Oe for La$\text{}_{0.7}$Ca$\text{}_{0.3}$MnO$\text{}_{3}$ samples at 5 K.zapis

Redshifted Fe K$\alpha$ line from the unusual $\gamma$-ray source PMN J1603–4904

Opis:
Context. Multiwavelength observations have revealed the highly unusual properties of the $\gamma$-ray source PMN J1603-4904, which are difficult to reconcile with any other well-established $\gamma$-ray source class. The object is either a very atypical blazar or a compact jet source seen at a larger angle to the line of sight. Aims: To determine the physical origin of the high-energy emission processes in PMN J1603-4904, we study the X-ray spectrum in detail. Methods: We performed quasi-simultaneous X-ray observations with XMM-Newton and Suzaku in 2013 September. This resulted in the first high signal-to-noise X-ray spectrum of this source. Results: The 2-10 keV X-ray spectrum can be well described by an absorbed power law with an emission line at 5.44 $\pm$ 0.05 keV (observed frame). We interpret this feature as a K$\alpha$ line from neutral iron and accordingly determine the redshift of PMN J1603-4904 to be z = 0.18 $\pm$ 0.01, which corresponds to a luminosity distance of 872 $\pm$ 54 Mpc. Conclusions: The detection of a redshifted X-ray emission line further challenges the original BL Lac classification of PMN J1603-4904. This result suggests that the source is observed at a larger angle to the line of sight than expected for blazars, and thus the source would add to the elusive class of $\gamma$-ray loud misaligned-jet objects, possibly a $\gamma$-ray bright young radio galaxy.

Opis:
Novel Sugar Dendritic Gd-DTPA Complexes for MRI Contrast Agents were prepared and evaluated by in vitro and in vivo methods. The sugar dendritic MRI contrast agents have a good blood vesse pool character, and draw blood vessels and liver cancer remarkably clearer than the clinically using Gd-DTPA. Phospha sugar derivatives or phosphorus heterocyclic derivatives provided by functional groups such as epoxide, bromide, etc., were prepared and evaluated by MTT in vitro method. These phospha sugar derivatives showed excellent activities against leukemia cells as well as solid cancer cells in fashions of (i) higher activity, (ii) wider spectra, (iii) higher selectivity and specificity distingushing healthy and cancer cells, etc., compared with the molecular targeting chemotheraputic anti-cancer agent, Gleevec.

Opis:
The Single-Mirror Small-Size Telescope (SST-1M) stereoscopic system is composed of two Imaging Atmospheric Cherenkov Telescopes (IACTs) designed to deliver optimal performance for gamma-ray astronomy in the multi-TeV energy range. It features a 4-m diameter tessellated mirror dish and an innovative SiPM-based camera. Its optical system features a 4-m diameter spherical mirror dish based on the Davies-Cotton design, maintaining a good image quality over a large field of view (FoV), while minimizing optical aberrations. In 2022, two SST-1M telescopes were installed at the Ondřejov Observatory, Czech Republic at an altitude of 510 meters above sea level, collecting data for commissioning and astronomical observations since then. We present the first SST-1M observations of the Crab Nebula, conducted between September 2023 and March 2024 in both mono and stereoscopic modes. During this observation period, 46 hours for the SST-1M-1 and 52 hours for the SST-1M-2 were collected (of which 33 hours were in stereoscopic mode). In this work, we used the Crab Nebula observation to validate the expected performance of the instrument, as evaluated by Monte Carlo (MC) simulations that were carefully tuned to account for instrumental and atmospheric effects. We determined that the energy threshold at the analysis level for the zenith angles below 30° is 1 TeV for mono mode and 1.3 TeV for stereo mode. The energy and angular resolutions were approximately 20% and 0.18° for mono mode and 10% and 0.10° for stereo mode, respectively. We present an off-axis performance assessment of the instrument and a detailed study of the systematic uncertainties. The full simulation results for the telescope and its camera are compared to the data for the first time, enabling a deeper understanding of the SST-1M array performance.
