Opis:
In recent years, safety of a ships has become one important issues needed to solved as soon as possible in ship navigation. Optimal weather routing is one of best solution for ensuring safe operation of a ship with a with short passage time or minimum energy to avoid a certain excessive motion. This paper introduced the development of solution for safety and optimal weather routing a ship considering seakeeping performance based on model test result. This study introduced how to apply A* algorithm based on result of the seakeeping model test for determining the optimal ship routes. Seakeeping model test of 8600 TEU container ship was carried out in Changwon National University's seakeeping basin and its RAOs at various frequencies were used to predict the RMS motion values in irregular waves. The specially modelled path-cost function and the safety constraints were proposed for finding the optimal path of the ship. The comparison of ship performances estimated by great circle’s path and estimated optimal route during the voyage of the ship was investigated.

Opis:
Purpose: The study aims to investigate the effects of thermomechanical treatment, including tempering and hot–rolling, on the microstructure and mechanical properties of ferrite–martensite dual phase steel. Design/methodology/approach: The initial steel billet was a hypoeutectoid steel, which was annealed at 1000ºC, then hot–rolled at 920ºC, followed by austenitisation at various temperatures (730, 770, 800, and 830ºC), and finally quenched to obtain ferrite–martensite dual phase steel. X-ray diffractometer and optical microscopy investigated the microstructure and grain size of the dual-phase steel. Mechanical properties such as hardness, elongation, and tensile strength were also examined. Findings: The grain size decreased with increasing elongation percentage and remained constant after an elongation of 30%. The martensite/ferrite phase ratio increased with higher tempering temperatures. The hardness, elongation, and tensile strength reached a maximum when the tempering temperature was 800ºC. Research limitations/implications: Future studies could consider the effect of hot–rolling temperature or cold-rolling. Practical implications: The study proposes a straightforward and efficient thermomechanical treatment process to transform hypereutectoid steel into ferrite-martensite dual-phase dual- phase steel with improved mechanical properties. Originality/value: The study reveals the contributions of grain size and the martensite/ferrite ratio to the mechanical properties of ferrite–martensite dual steel through thermomechanical treatment.

Opis:
Theoretical analysis of light beam propagation in twisted nematic liquid crystalline waveguides is presented. Due to the optical reorientation nonlinearity, the light beam changes the direction of propagation and optical spatial soliton is formed. Modeling of such behavior is presented by using (2+1)-dimensional vector beam propagation method as well as simplified (1+1)-dimensional method. Although both approaches give similar results, the differences are discussed in detail.

The synthetic ZnAl$\text{}_{2}$O$\text{}_{4}$ spinels doped with Cr$\text{}^{3+}$ ions are prepared from ZnSO$\text{}_{4}$, Al$\text{}_{2}$(SO$\text{}_{4}$)$\text{}_{3}$, and Cr$\text{}_{2}$(SO$\text{}_{4}$)$\text{}_{3}$. The spinel single phase is detected from X-ray diffraction. Luminescence properties of Cr$\text{}^{3+}$ in ZnAl$\text{}_{2}$O$\text{}_{4}$ were studied by low temperature luminescence and decay measurements. Four luminescence lines at 14570, 14520, 14460, and 14330 cm$\text{}^{-1}$ were found to originate from structure distortion and the line at 14175 cm$\text{}^{-1}$ - from chromium pairs. The broad emission band at about 13540 cm$\text{}^{-1}$ is considered to arise from a new Cr$\text{}^{3+}$ center in ZnCr$\text{}_{2}$O$\text{}_{4}$.

Opis:
The energy gap and magnetic susceptibility of Cd$\text{}_{0.85}$Fe$\text{}_{0.15}$Se were measured in function of temperature. Experiments showed that the magnetic contribution to the variation of the energy gap in Cd$\text{}_{1-x}$Fe$\text{}_{x}$Se is not proportional to the product of magnetic susceptibility and temperature as it has been observed in Mn$\text{}^{++}$-containing semiconductors.

Opis:
This paper deals with the field-weakening of the traction induction motor drive. The field-weakening method is optimal with respect to the voltage and current limits. The drive is controlled using the Direct Torque Control method with the Space Vector Modulation algorithm, DTC-SVM. The speed of the drive, used in the system, is estimated using two estimators, both are the Model Reference Adaptive System (MRAS) type. One of them takes the advantage of the PI controller, the second one uses the sign function, what is typical for the Sliding-Mode theory. The described issues are illustrated using experimental tests results, obtained on a laboratory setup with 50 kW induction motor.

Opis:
Inelastic scattering of excitons on Fe$\text{}^{++}$ ions in Cd$\text{}_{1-x}$Fe$\text{}_{x}$Se was studied by resonant Raman scattering. Polarization measurements were done using a modulation technique, allowing for the first time to determine the full polarization state of the detected light. The obtained results were compared to a simple calculation in an incoherent model of scattering on Fe$\text{}^{++}$ ions.

We construct quasi-optimal elimination trees for 2D finite element meshes with singularities. These trees minimize the complexity of the solution of the discrete system. The computational cost estimates of the elimination process model the execution of the multifrontal algorithms in serial and in parallel shared-memory executions. Since the meshes considered are a subspace of all possible mesh partitions, we call these minimizers quasi-optimal. We minimize the cost functionals using dynamic programming. Finding these minimizers is more computationally expensive than solving the original algebraic system. Nevertheless, from the insights provided by the analysis of the dynamic programming minima, we propose a heuristic construction of the elimination trees that has cost O(N_{e} log(N_{e})), where N_{e} is the number of elements in the mesh. We show that this heuristic ordering has similar computational cost to the quasi-optimal elimination trees found with dynamic programming and outperforms state-of-the-art alternatives in our numerical experiments.

Purpose: Determine the state of stress-strain, formation and development cracks, three-layer beam diagrams of load-compression stress, load-tension stress, load-vertical displacement relationships with a change in concrete grade. Design/methodology/approach: This paper presents the results of an ANSYS numerical simulation analysis involving stress-strain state and cracking of the steel fiber concrete layers of three-layer reinforced concrete beams with the upper and lower layers. With a cross-section of 150x300 mm, a total span of 2200 mm and an effective length of 2000 mm, the middle is a normal concrete layer. Under two-point loads, all the beam samples were tested. The research simulated three-layer concrete beams in different layers of beams with a change in concrete grade, and compared with and without the use of steel fibers in layers of concrete beams, including the nonlinearity of the material considered. Findings: A diagram of the formation and development of cracks in three-layer concrete beams has been constructed by the study results, determining the load at which the concrete beams begin to crack, the load at which the concrete beams are damaged. In the middle of three-layer steel fiber reinforced concrete beams, load-compression stress, loadtension stress, load-vertical displacement relationships are established. Study results show that these three-layer concrete beams appear to crack earlier than in other cases in cases 2 and 3, but the beam bearing capacity is damaged at 67 kN, the earliest in case 3. And case 6 at 116 kN is the latest. The effects of case 1 and case 3 are small compared with and without the use of steel fibers in cases, while the effects of case 5 and case 6 are very high. Research limitations/implications: The research focuses only on the change of concrete grade in the layers, but the input parameters affecting three-layer steel fiber concrete beams have not been researched, such as the number of tensile steel bars, tensile steel bar diameter, steel fiber content in concrete, thickness variation in three-layer concrete beam layers, etc. Practical implications: Provides a result of experimental study and ANSYS numerical simulation in multi-layer steel fiber concrete beams. Originality/value: The analysis of multi-layered steel fiber concrete beams using experimental and simulation methods shows that other parameters influencing the beams will continue to analysis the working stages of three-layer beams.
