Opis:
High-Performance Concretes (HPC) and Ultra High-Performance Concretes (UHPC) allow for the production of extremely durable construction elements when compared to those same elements made of C35/45 concrete. Increased compressive- and flexural strength markedly contribute to ballistic resistance reducing the area and depth of the “crater” which results from a potential impact of a projectile or a fragment. Additionally, the presence of dispersed fibres in these mixtures eliminates the need of using reinforcement bars, which, in turn, reduces the time expenditure and labour. The article compares the results of various ballistic tests of elements made of high-performance concrete mixtures to determine the viability of applying such elements in the defence sector. Furthermore, the authors present the possibility of adapting additive technologies for the performance of field fortification tasks by the military, as part of which the HPCs and UHPCs are used as working mixtures. The authors also show the possibility of fabricating construction elements without the use of formworks, as well as printing construction elements directly at the site of future operation of the buildings.

Opis:
Posttraumatic stress disorder - PTSD is an anxiety disorder occurring in people exposed to a traumatic event. Disorder symptoms must occur after the traumatic event, cannot overtake it. The picture of PTSD depends on many pretraumatic factors, the type of acting factors and the circumstances of the exposure such as support and expert assistance. Although the concept of PTSD diagnostic category was introduced in the 1980s, this disorder accompanied humanity since its be-ginnings, because for centuries humanity met traumatic events that caused fear and anxiety. There were wars, traffic accidents or natu-ral disasters. This has been described in the literature, as well as in medical observations. Over the years, the understanding and percep-tion of PTSD has changed. That was the reason for evolution of definition and the idea of PTSD. Those changes were reflected in the commonly used diagnostic classifications of the ICD or DSM. This process has been accompanied by the development of measurement tools used for diagnosis and for further research. The variety of methods developed so far, interviews and self-assessment questionnaires, allow for more objective and accurate diagno-sis of the disorder. Some of the tools such as the Mississippi Scale for Combat-Related PTSD are intended to diagnose veterans and have Polish valida-tion, which allows to exam civilians while others are designed to test children (Children's PTSD Inventory).

Opis:
This paper presents a methodology for identifying the influence of the tolerances used in model pump (TYPE 1PWR – SE) construction on the total efficiency. The identification of the sensitive control dimensions (Value/Tolerance) of examined pumps has been made by means of multi-valued logic and inductive decision trees. The innovation of the prototype unit is based on oblique gears with involute teeth, modified in the lower and upper part of the profile. The modification in the lower part was made using the so-called tooth root undercutting technique. Through the use of multivalent logic trees, the designated rank of importance of both structural and operational parameters is identified, taking into account the effect of tolerances on construction. The area is increased by cutting the oblique teeth.

Opis:
Telecommunication networks are ever more frequently relying on artificial intelligence and machine learning techniques to detect specific use patterns or potential errors and to take automated decisions when these are encountered. This concept requires that methods be employed to measure the level of quality of a given telecommunication service, i.e. to verify quality of service (QoS) metrics. In a broader context, methods assessing the entire user experience (quality of experience – QoE) are required as well. In this article, various approaches to assessing QoS, QoE and the related metrics are presented, with a view to implement these at an FTTH network operator in Poland. Since this article presents the architecture of the system used to analyze QoE performance based on a number of QoS metrics collected by the operator, we also provide a comprehensive introduction to the QoS and QoE metrics used herein.

Opis:
Introduction and aim. Blue light is part of the natural light spectrum and plays a role in regulating the circadian rhythm. However, with the increasing use of electronic devices and energy-efficient lighting emitting high levels of artificial blue light, concerns are raised regarding its potential effect on human health. Blue-blocking filters have been developed and are advertised as a solution to be used in spectacles or intraocular lenses. This review aims to provide an in-depth analysis of the use of blue-blocking filters based on the results of clinical trials. Material and methods. This review included relevant original papers reporting on clinical trial results from PubMed, Science Direct, and Google Scholar databases using specified keywords. Analysis of the literature. Trials conducted with patients reveal mixed results, with some showing no significant changes in vision and reading abilities, while others indicating potential limitations such as reduced contrast vision. However, blue-blocking filters have demonstrated potential benefits in improving sleep quality and mood, particularly in patients with sleep disturbances or psychiatric disorders. The efficacy of blue-blocking filters in mitigating symptoms of digital eye strain remains inconclusive. Conclusion. Overall, this paper provides a comprehensive assessment of the benefits and limitations associated with the use of blue-blocking filters, highlighting the need for further investigation in certain areas.
