Opis:
A highly functionalized heterocyclic library were synthesized, and characterized by common spectroscopic methods. This novel synthetic rout involves nucleophilic substitution reaction of 3-cyano-4chloro coumarin with 4-(4-aminophenyl)morpholin-3-one in the presence of base and methanol as a solvent in good yield and high purity. Key starting material 4-(4-aminophenyl)morpholin-3-one synthesized from aniline. The reaction of aniline with ethylene oxide gives INT-1 which on reaction with Chloroacetyl chloride yield INT-b. Nitration of INT-b gives INT-c, which on reduction with Sn/HCl gives int-D. Further INT-3 was synthesized from 4-hydroxy coumarin. The Vilsmeier-haack reaction of 4-hydroxy coumarin gives INT-01 which on reaction with hydroxylamine hydrochloride and sodium acetate furnished INT-03. All the synthesized compound of libraries characterized using 1H NMR, Mass, and IR spectroscopic technique.

Opis:
(2E,6E)-2,6-bis(4-aminobenzylidene)cyclohexanone (BABC) was synthesized by two-step reaction of p-nitrobenzaldehyde and cyclohexanone followed by its reduction. The structure of BABC was supported by UV-Vis, FTIR, 1HNMR and mass spectral data. DSC endothermic transition at 230.6 ºC is assigned as melting transition followed by decomposition reaction. BABC is thermally stable up to 240 ºC and followed three step degradation kinetics. Various kinetic parameters were determined by Anderson-Freeman method and discussed.

Opis:
White jute and jute felt fiber reinforced composites of tetra functional epoxy resin of bisphenol-C-formaldehyde (EBCF), araldites (GY508 and GY6010) and their hybrid composites were fabricated by hand layup followed by compression molding technique. White jute based composites showed somewhat better mechanical and electrical properties than those of jute felt based composites mainly due to different nature of reinforcing fibers, matrix materials and interfacial adhesion. Good mechanical and electrical properties, excellent hydrolytic stability, comparable equilibrium water absorption and equilibrium time of the composites signified their industrial importance for low load bearing, electrical, electronic and marine applications. EBCF based composites showed comparable mechanical, electrical and water absorption properties as those of araldites based composites signifying industrial utility of EBCF.

Opis:
According to recent society guidelines, upper gastrointestinal bleed initial approach includes assessment of hemodynamic status, fluid resuscitation if necessary, transfusion strategy to target hemoglobin above 7 (g/dL), use of intravenous proton pump inhibitor and generally upper endoscopy within 24 hours. We present a case of a 26-year-old woman who sought treatment after one episode of hematemesis and pre-syncope. She had a similar presentation three months earlier and received interventional radiology-guided mesenteric angiography and the use of multiple coils to embolize a 1.5-cm deep punched-out duodenal ulcer. Migration of the coil was noted on endoscopy within the previously described ulcer. Coil migration is expected to occur in up to 3% of cases of endovascular embolization. However, migration into the duodenum is uncommon and could have actually been a contributing factor to the current bleed.

Opis:
Hexafunctional epoxy resin of bisphenol-C-formaldehyde (HEBCF) and unsaturated polyester resin of maleic anhydride and propylene glycol (PER) were synthesized and used for the preparation of jute and glass hybrid composites. The composites were prepared by hand layup followed by compression molding technique. Both types of the hybrid composites possess good mechanical properties. G-HEBCF-PER possesses almost doubled mechanical properties than J-HEBCF-PER except Barcol harness, which is comparable. G-HEBCF-PER and J-HEBCF-PER possess moderate electrical properties due to their polar nature. G-HEBCF-PER and J-HEBCF-PER possess excellent hydrolytic stability, high water absorption tendency (~ 18%) and long equilibrium time (456h) due to presence of hydrophilic hydroxyl and other polar groups in the hybrid composites. The hybrid composites may be useful for low load bearing and marine applications.

Montmorillonite filled and unfilled controls, jute/treated jute/glass/hybrid composites were prepared at room temperature for three h and under 5 MPa pressure. The composites were post cured at 150 °C for 30 min. A 40% styrene was used as a reactive diluent, and 1% methylethylketone peroxide, 1.5 % cobalt octoate, and 1.5% dimethylaniline were used as initiator and accelerator, and a promoter. Filled and unfilled composites showed good to excellent mechanical and electrical properties, excellent hydrolytic stability and chemical resistance against water acids, alkali, salt solutions; high water absorption tendency (7.9-20.5%), and longer equilibrium times (288-432h). In different environments at 30 °C observed water absorption trend is H2SO4 > HCl > NaOH > H2O > NaCl. Hybrid composites showed intermediate properties of their parent composites. MMT filled treated jute (46), and unfilled glass (48), and MMT filled glass (48) composites revealed Barcol hardness between the suggested range of 45-65 for scratch and wear resistance proof materials. The nature of the reinforcements, matrix, and filler; fiber treatment, environmental conditions, etc., had affected studied properties and water absorption behavior.

Opis:
The density (), viscosity () and ultrasonic speed (U) of 1, 4-dioxane (DO), tetrahydrofuran (THF), chloroform (CF) and solutions (0.25-5 wt%) of epoxy resin of (2E, 6E)-bis(4-hydroxy benzylidene)-4-methylcyclohexanone have been investigated at 298, 303, 308 and 313 K to understand molecular interactions in solutions of different polarity. Various acoustical and thermodynamic activation parameters such as acoustical impedance (Z), adiabatic compressibility (a), internal pressure (), free volume (Vf), intermolecular free path length (Lf), van der Waals constant(b), viscous relaxation time (), classical absorption coefficient (f2)cl, Rao`s molar sound function (Rm) and solvation number (Sn) were determined using, and U data and correlated with concentration (C) at four different temperatures (T). Good to excellent correlation between a given parameter and concentration is observed at all T. Linear or non-linear increase or decrease of studied acoustical and thermodynamic parameters with concentration of epoxy resin at different temperatures indicated existence of strong molecular interactions (solvent-solute and solute-solute) in the solutions. The non-linear increase of Sn with concentration of epoxy resin further supported the existence of strong molecular interactions and structure forming tendency of EMBHBC. The competing solvent-solute and solute-solute interactions are also supported by thermodynamic activation parameters (G, H and S).

Opis:
(2E,6E) 2,6-Bis(4-hydroxybenzalidene)-4-R-cyclohexanone (BHBC, R = H and MBHBC, R = CH3) was synthesized by condensing cyclohexanone/4-methylcyclohexanone with 4-hydroxy benzaldehyde using mixture of boric acid and hydrochloric acid as a catalyst at 60-70 ºC for 1 h. The structures of BHBC and MBHBC are supported by FTIR, 1HNMR, 13CNMR and MS techniques. DSC endothermic transition at 282.48 ºC (BHBC) and two endothermic transitions at 214.66 and 224.83 ºC and assigned as melting transitions. The compositions of the two isomers of MBHBC were determined from their corresponding peak areas and observed compositions are 81.5% and 18.5%, respectively for Isomer-I and Isomer-II. BHBC and MBHBC are thermally stable up to 305 ºC and 285 ºC, respectively and followed three step degradation kinetics. Both the compounds followed apparently first order degradation kinetics and were completely degraded into low molecular mass hydrocarbons.

Jute and glass composites were prepared by compressing molding technique at 150C for 3h under 20 MPa pressure. J-EMBHBC-DDS, J-EMBHBC-THPA, G-EMBHBC-DDS and G-EMBHBC-THPA showed 15, 15.1, 58.3 and 18.7 MPa tensile strength, respectively. J-EMBHBC-DDS and J-EMBHBC-THPA showed 22.9 and 19.4 MPa flexural strength, respectively. J-EMBHBC-DDM and G-EMBHBC-DDM showed 1.6×109 and 1.2×1012 ohm cm volume resistivity, respectively. J-EMBHBC-DDM and G-EMBHBC-DDM showed 2.8 and 11.2 kVmm-1, respectively. Water uptake in the composites was carried out in pure water and 10% each of aqueous HCl, H2SO4, HNO3, NaOH, KOH and NaCl solutions at 35 C as well as in boiling water. Composites showed high water uptake tendency and longer equilibrium time in different environments. High water uptake in the composites is due to presence of hydroxyl groups in celluloses and resins and also due to formation of micro cracks. Nature of the electrolytes also played an important role on water uptake behavior and diffusivity in the composites. Drastic reduction in equilibrium water uptake time was observed in boiling water.
