Obecność materiałów video w nauce języków obcych nie jest nowością, jednak warto zwrócić uwagę na to, jak rozwój techniki zmienił sposoby wykorzystania takich materiałów w klasie. Wobec zmieniających się potrzeb i oczekiwań młodych ludzi, którzy dorastali w erze nowoczesnych technologii, ograniczanie materiałów dydaktycznych tylko do podręcznika zdaje się być niewystarczające.Pierwsze dwa rozdziały tej pracy stanowią przegląd najważniejszych zagadnień dotyczących roli materiałów video w kontekście nauczania języków obcych: teorie uczenia się poprzez przekaz werbalny i niewerbalny, kwestie praktyczne związane z wykorzystywaniem video w klasie oraz wyniki badań pokazujące wpływ materiałów audio-wizualnych na rozwój różnych aspektów języka. Rozdział trzeci zwraca uwagę na potrzebę ewaluacji, prezentuje jej definicję, rodzaje oraz istniejące modele oceny podręczników. Następnie następuje rozważanie na temat ewaluacji materiałów przeznaczonych do nauki poszczególnych aspektów języka.Pierwszym celem projektu opisanego w dwóch ostatnich rozdziałach tej pracy było stworzenie listy kryteriów oceny materiałów video, a następnie użycie jej do przeprowadzenia oceny wybranych materiałów DVD dołączonych do podręczników dla uczniów klas licealnych. Ocena ta wskazała pewne wady i zalety omawianych materiałów.Drugim celem projektu było zbadanie opinii nauczycieli i uczniów na temat wykorzystania materiałów video w nauce języka angielskiego na poziomie liceum. Przeprowadzone ankiety dotyczyły poglądów respondentów na temat roli video w nauce języka, rodzaju materiałów video jakie są przez nich najczęściej używane oraz częstotliwości z jaką są używane.
Even though the use of video materials in language teaching and learning is not new, the development of technology has changed the ways this tool can be used in the L2 classroom. Because of the changing needs and expectations of students who have grown up in the digital era, it seems out of date to confine didactic materials only to printed text. The first two chapters of this thesis review the most important issues related to the role of video materials in the educational context: the theory of learning through verbal and non-verbal channels, new video formats and types, practical considerations of the use of video in class, and research findings related to the value of audio-visual materials in the development of various aspects of the target language competence. The third chapter emphasises the need for materials evaluation, provides the definition of evaluation, its types and existing frameworks of coursebooks assessment. This is followed by a discussion on how to evaluate materials which aim to develop certain aspects of the target competence. The first aim of the project presented in the final chapters was to develop a video assessment checklist and to conduct a criterion-based assessment of selected DVD sets accompanying coursebooks for secondary school students. The assessment pointed to some strengths and weaknesses of the materials. The other aim of the project was to investigate teachers’ and students’ attitudes concerning the use of video materials at the secondary school level. The questionnaire study shed light on the respondents’ beliefs about the role of the video in language teaching and learning, the kind of materials the teachers and students use and how often they use them. - Dostawca treści:
