Opis:
Leadership conceptions and leadership behavior have been in the focus of science for a long time. The concepts are developed constantly and are frequently the subject of empirical research. During the last decades the concept of the transformational leadership emerged. In addition to this common approach this article displays the health-oriented leadership. Keeping the health of the employees in focus the Workplace Health Management (WHM) as well is an upcoming approach and provides many possibilities in this context. The aim of this paper is to investigate if there is a different leadership behavior in companies with a WHM and in companies without a WHM. For this purpose an empirical examination was conducted in Hungary and in Germany. This survey shows that there are significant differences in certain leadership behaviours within companies which have established a sustainable and long-term-oriented WHM and those who don´t.

Golf is a sport discipline, which require of the player very high precision. The aim of this study was the kinematic analysis of the upper limb during golf swing using the Kinect device and in real conditions. Pilot experimental studies were carried out on the one person, who was obligated to perform swing golf 10 times in every stage of research. Kinematic analysis has shown that the results for both phases were comparable. The greatest mobility during golf swing was observed in the elbow’s joint.

Opis:
Based on new material from Germany and Spain, the echinoid “Lepidocentrus” ibericusfrom the Early Devonian (Emsian) of northern Spain is shown to be congeneric with Rhenechinusfrom the Hunsrück Slate of south−western Germany. New information on the lantern, pedicellariae and internal structure of the theca is provided, and confirms this genus as a member of the Echinocystitidae–Proterocidaridae clade and the most primitive of all Devonian echinoids. The two environmental settings in which Rhenechinus is found are very different: the Spanish specimens come from a relatively shallow−water bryozoan meadow setting while the German specimens are preserved in a deep−water setting. We deduce that the rare echinoid specimens from the Hunsrück Slate are all allochthonous, whereas the Spanish material is preserved in situ.

Opis:
Two marine invertebrate fossil assemblages from the Late Triassic Cassian Formation (Dolomites, northern Italy) were examined to assess their diversity and palaeoecology. Surface and bulk samples from the localities Misurina Landslide and Lago Antorno were taken and analysed separately. Both benthic assemblages are relatively similar in taxonomic composition. Gastropods form the most abundant and diverse group, followed by bivalves. Disarticulated echinoderm ossicles are also common in the bulk sample from Misurina Landslide, but they are rare at Lago Antorno. The Misurina Landslide outcrop has yielded two echinoderm Palaeozoic holdovers, the ophiocistioid Linguaserra triassica and plates of putative proterocidarids, supporting the earlier hypothesis that such basins acted as refugia. The gastropod species Coelostylina conica, Prostylifer paludinaris, and Ampezzopleura hybridopsis are characteristic elements of both assemblages. The gastropod Jurilda elongata, however, is the most abundant species at Misurina Landslide, whereas juveniles of the gastropod species Dentineritaria neritina dominate the assemblage from Lago Antorno. Newly described gastropod taxa are Angulatella bizzarinii Nützel and Hausmann gen. et sp. nov., Bandellina compacta Nützel and Hausmann sp. nov., and Ampezzogyra angulata Nützel and Hausmann sp. nov. Fifty-seven invertebrate species were found in the bulk sample from Misurina Landslide and 26 species were recovered from the bulk sample from Lago Antorno. However, sample size from Lago Antorno was much smaller than that from Misurina. Diversity indices (Shannon, Simpson, Berger-Parker) show similar moderate diversities in both assemblages. Rarefaction curves and rank-abundance distributions also point to very similar diversities and ecological structures of the fossil assemblages. Both assemblages are autochthonous or parautochthonous, stemming from basinal, soft-bottom habitats. Their taxonomic composition differs significantly from that of other faunas known from the Cassian Formation. The tropical marine Cassian palaeoecosystem was highly complex and its diversity is still far from being fully explored.

Trap use as an indicator of social behavior in mainland and island voles

Opis:
The social behavior of a cyling mainland population of Microtus pennsylvanicus and a non-cycling island endemic, M. breweri was studied. Social structure was determined by the spatial distribution of various sex, reproductive, and age classes using a grid arrangement of live traps. The response of voles of given age and sex classes to olfactory cues left by other voles of known age and sex classes in live traps was studied in the field. Differences between the two species in social behavior were looked at as contributing factors in the observed demographic differences between the species. Resident and dispersing sub-populations of each species were compared. The social behavior was also examined in each of 4 distinct phases of a single population cycle of M. pennsylvanicus.

Opis:
Characteristics of white-footed mice, Peromyscus leucopus (Rafinesque, 1818) inhabiting a woodland and an adjacent grassland in eastern Massachusetts (USA) were compared. Mice occurred predominantly in the woodland. The occurrence of mice in the grassland was unrelated to potential competitors, but was instead related to the density of Peromyscus.

Opis:
Root distribution sampling techniques are often inaccurate, time consuming and costly. We present an inexpensive approach to soil profile-wall mapping using a desktop scanner that allowed us to spend reduced time in the field. The scanner was pressed onto the vertical surface of a 1 x 1 m soil pit and images of the roots were taken in situ. In a common garden planting of eleven, 30-year-old conifer and hardwood tree species in Poland, we compared root counts (number of roots cm–2) obtained by this method with independent measurements of root length density (RLD) obtained from soil cores. We found a positive correlation (Spearman rank correlation r=0.93; P<0.001) suggesting general agreement of the two approaches in ranking among the species. Soil coring as well as grid mapping with plastic overlays took a longer total time for quantifying root distribution than the scanning procedure. The desktop scanner approach we developed is an inexpensive, time efficient and accurate way of quantifying root distribution and abundance that allows a unique coupling of root data to soil properties.
