This paper analyses the effects of fiscal policies upon agriculture and industry in Ukraine, with the SVAR model using quarterly data for the 2001–2016 period. The results indicate a positive effect of the government spending on both agricultural production and industrial output, while an increase in the government revenue is of the same expansionary impact for the latter only. Among other results, there is a weak negative short-lived spillover from agriculture to industry, with no causality running on the reverse. As agricultural production in Ukraine is associated with a higher level of government spending in the short run, a direction of causality seems to be just the opposite for industrial output. Both agriculture and industry bring about higher budget revenues in the short run, but for the latter this effect is lagged and more persistent. Controlling for fiscal policy effects, the nominal (real) exchange rate depreciation seems to be expansionary for industrial output. For agriculture, a nominal exchange rate depreciation is restrictionary in the short run, with an expansionary effect in the long run (however, this result is not supported in specification with the real exchange rate). Several implications of fiscal policy effects are discussed.

Opis:
Support frameworks of transport vehicles operate under varying terrain conditions under the influence of extreme climate and corrosive environments. When transporting cargo, dust is deposited on the surface of metal structures. The combination of dust and moisture creates an aggressive environment resulting in intense corrosion damage. The damage is caused by the defects of corrosion pitting, which occur on the surface and transform into corrosion cracks. Based on energy approaches, with the application of well-known results for the mathematical description of electrochemical reactions and the principles of fragile fracture mechanics, an analytical model of durability is proposed for the first time. The model determines the residual life of maximum loaded elements of undercarriages with surface cracks under the action of dynamic loads and corrosive environments. For this case, a set of mathematical relations in the form of a non-linear differential equation was developed, as well as the initial and final conditions for determining the life of vehicles’ structural elements with corrosive surface cracks. The analytical model implementation is proven by solving the problem of determining the residual life of a vehicle’s element, i.e., a steel plate, weakened by a semi-elliptical surface crack, which is under the action of dynamic loads in a 3% sodium chloride solution. The insignificant increase in the crack’s initial size is proven to greatly reduce the period of its subcritical growth. The developed model was applied to define the residual life of thin-walled elements of structures with surface cracks.

Opis:
Purpose Develop a method for determining and evaluating the stress-strain state, particularly the distribution of thermomechanical stresses in the materials of individual rotating parts of vehicles. Design/methodology/approach The proposed method is based on the principle of gradual approximations of the solution when the boundary conditions are satisfied on the curvilinear limiting surfaces of the disk body. Findings The proposed method of determining and estimating the distribution of thermomechanical stresses in the disk material makes it possible to take into account the variable geometry: thickness and presence of a hole in the central part of the disk, also correctly determine stress-strain state at any point of unevenly heated rotating axial body. Research limitations/implications The work uses generally accepted assumptions and limitations for thermomechanical calculations. Originality/value It is proved that in real disks, the stress-strain state is spatial, and the well - known method based on the hypotheses of the plane-stress state does not provide the possibility of calculating the values of stresses in the thickness of the disk. The obtained results can be used to improve the methodology of auto technical examination of road accidents. In addition, they can be taken into account by bus drivers on urban routes when choosing a safe distance in heavy traffic, as well as design engineers of car brake systems.
