Opis:
To study creep characteristics of deep rock masses under low-frequency earthquakes and other loads, sandstone and marble samples were used to characterize soft rock and hard rock, respectively. Shear creep tests of anchored rock masses under fatigue loading were carried out by using the graded loading method. A new nonlinear rheological model was constructed to characterize mechanical properties of anchored rock masses under fatigue loading. Creep fatigue curves of soft rock and hard rock have clear creep characteristics including instantaneous, attenuation, steady-state and accelerated creep stages. This work provides new insights into the stability of rock masses.

Opis:
To explore the mechanical response of anchored rock mass with an interaction of fatigue and creep, this paper selects the fatigue amplitude and fatigue frequency as influencing factors to carry out a fatigue-creep experiment of the anchored rock mass. Based on fractional order theory and binary perturbation theory, a new fractional order creep model is constructed. The results show that compared with the Burgers model, the newly proposed creep model can better describe the whole process of creep deformation of the anchored jointed rock mass under fatigue loading.

Opis:
High dynamic range imaging systems can offer a more complete representation of scene, aiming to capture all brightness information of a visible range of scene, even in extreme lighting conditions. This paper proposes a no-reference quality metric for high dynamic range image (HDRI), in which a combination of tensor decomposition and curvature analysis is used to construct an efficient featureset that is sensitive to degradation levels of patches in HDRIs. Tensor decomposition maintains the majority of color information of an HDRI, and the geometric structure information of the HDRI is then extracted by a curvature analysis. A quality-related label feature matrix is subsequently defined and obtained by using a feature set and a sparse dictionary with quality-related labels. Then, the multi-dimensional local feature set of the HDRI is determined from the quality-related label feature matrix. Finally, the local feature set and other global feature set are pooled to predict the quality of the HDRI. The prediction performance of the proposed metric is verified by three public test databases, and the experimental results indicate that both its Pearson linear correlation coefficientand Spearman rank-order correlation coefficient are better than those of other no-reference metrics. The proposed metric produces statistically better assessment results, implying a higher consistency with human visual perception.

Opis:
The impact of shoe stiffness on running biomechanics is well-documented, while the specific effect on the performance of biomechanically distinct groups such as novice runners and experienced runners is still largely unexplored. The study aimed to evaluate the biomechanical effect of different shoe longitudinal bending stiffness on the lower limb during running in novice runners and experienced runners. Methods: Twelve experienced runners and ten novice runners ran at a speed of 4.47 m/s while randomly wearing shoes with either low stiffness (5.9 Nm/rad) or high stiffness (8.6 Nm/rad). An Opensim musculoskeletal model was adopted for estimating lower limb joint angles, joint angular velocities, joint moment, joint work, peak joint reaction forces during running stance phase. Results: Results showed that novice runners displayed greater lower limb joint angles and less joint moment, while experienced runners exhibited reduced joint angles but greater joint moment, and higher peak joint reaction forces were observed at the knee and ankle joints. Furthermore, increased shoe longitudinal bending stiffness resulted in higher peak joint reaction forces at the metatarsophalangeal joint for novice runners while lower for experienced runners. Conclusions: Novice runners exhibit greater lower limb joint angles and reduced joint moments compared to experienced runners. Increased longitudinal bending stiffness results in higher peak joint reaction forces at the metatarsophalangeal joint for novice runners, while experienced runners show reduced forces under the same conditions. This nuanced understanding of joint dynamics underscores the need for tailored training and footwear recommendations specific to different levels of running experience.

Opis:
ObjectivesExposure to light at night (LAN) can disturb circadian endocrine and metabolic rhythms. Hyperuricemia (HUA) is an early-onset metabolic disorder. However, it is still not clear whether LAN exposure increases the prevalence of HUA.Material and MethodsThe authors used crosssectional data on the Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei occupational populations cohort from March–July 2017. A total of 7664 steel workers were finally selected to investigate the relationship between LAN exposure and the prevalence of HUA among steel workers. The authors collected demographic and socio-economic data, as well as information on lifestyle factors, anthropometric measures, and laboratory tests. The restricted cubic spline method was used to analyze the dose-response relationship between cumulative LAN exposure and the prevalence of HUA. Logistic regression analyses were used to fit the relationship between them.ResultsThe average age of the participants was 43.5±8.6 years; 7051 (91.7%) of them were males, 2749 (35.9%) reported to suffer from HUA, and 1241 (16.2%) were not exposed to LAN. There was a significant non-linear dose-response relationship between them. After adjustment for the confounding factors, including demographic data, lifestyle factors, etc., the lower LAN exposure was significantly associated with HUA (0–1931.7 days, OR = 1.180, and the 95% CI: 1.000–1.394; 1931.7–4343 days, OR = 1.215, 95% CI: 1.035–1.426).ConclusionsThis study revealed that a certain amount of exposure to LAN is independently related to the prevalence of HUA in steel workers in China.

Opis:
The research primarily aimed to observe the fibre structure of cotton stock fabric through a scanning electron microscope (SEM). Then, textile durability, appearance, and comfort were tested in line with the international standards organization's (ISO) guidelines. For this, the storage time and a series of performance indicators including breaking strength, tensile strength, colour fastness to soap washing, colour fastness to dry rubbing as well as wet rubbing were evaluated, tested and analysed. Finally, through statistically analysing the data obtained, the limit value of the physical performance index and storage time of the fabrics were acquired, and further forming of the upcycling standards of cotton stock fabric. In this study, two cotton fabrics were selected, namely, natural-coloured cotton fabric (width 162 cm, weight 120.8 g/dm2, density 281 / 10 cm × 252 / 10 cm) and black-coloured cotton fabric (width 157 cm, weight 136.1 g/dm2, density 482 / 10 cm × 210 / 10 cm). The research experiments showed that when cotton stock fabrics were stored in a natural environment (temperature 20°C, humidity 65%), as the storage time increased, the surface yarns gradually began to loosen, with some loose yarns appearing on the surface. After 90 days the loosening intensified, and after 270 days the yarn looseness was obvious. After 330 days, a break in the fibrous structure on the surface of the natural-coloured cotton stock fabric could be observed. When natural-coloured cotton stock fabric was stored in a natural environment for 360 days, it lost 4.4% of its warp-breaking strength and 12.56% of its weft-breaking strength. For black cotton stock fabric, the figures were 5.66% and 20.54% for the warp-breaking and weft-breaking strength, respectively.

Opis:
Purpose: The aim of this study is to propose a method to construct corneal biomechanical model which is the foundation for simulation of corneal microsurgery. Methods: Corneal material has two significant characteristics: hyperelastic and viscoelastic. Firstly, Mooney–Rivlin hyperelastic model of cornea obtained based on stored-energy function can be simplified as a linear equation with two unknown parameters. Then, modified Maxwell viscoelastic model of the cornea, whose analytical form is consistent with the generalized Prony-series model, is proposed from the perspective of material mechanics. Results: Parameters of the model are determined by the uniaxial tensile tests and the stress-relaxation tests. Corneal material properties are simulated to verify the hyper-viscoelastic model and measure the effectiveness of the model in the finite element simulation. On this basis, an in vivo model of the corneal is built. And the simulation of extrusion in vivo cornea shows that the force is roughly nonlinearly increasing with displacement, and it is consistent with the results obtained by extrusion experiment of in vivo cornea. Conlusions: This paper derives a corneal hyper-viscoelastic model to describe the material properties more accurately, and explains the mathematical method for determination of the model parameters. The model is an effective biomechanical model, which can be directly used for simulation of trephine and suture in keratoplasty. Although the corneal hyper-viscoelastic model is taken as the object of study, the method has certain adaptability in biomechanical research of ophthalmology.
