    Opis:
    Investigation of selected samples collected coming from Kom C at Tel el Farcha site were performed using various mineralogical methods. Examination were conducted in order to identify substances as well as to explain their origin. Samples represent material filling up old fireplaces, mineralized charcoal and organic mat, dark substances coating alabaster vessels and other.

    Opis:
    W ciągu ostatnich kilkunastu lat nastąpił dynamiczny rozwój technologii satelitarnych. Dostarczają one danych, które wykorzystywane są przez coraz szerszą grupę użytkowników. Pomiary satelitarne stanowią cenne źródło informacji nie tylko dla naukowców i przedsiębiorców zapoznanych z technologią kosmiczną, ale także dla firm, które nie są bezpośrednio związane z tą branżą. Ostatnie lata pokazują również, że polskie instytucje coraz mocniej angażują się m.in. w rozwój nowych metod przetwarzania danych satelitarnych, a także w budowanie komponentów sprzętowych wykorzystywanych przez światowe agencje kosmiczne.
    There has been a rapid development of satellite technology over the past several years. They provide data that are used by an ever wider group of users. Satellite measurements constitute a valuable source of information not only for researchers and space technology companies, but also for businesses that are not directly associated with that industry. Recent years have shown that also Polish institutions are becoming increasingly engaged in the development of new methods of satellite data processing, for instance, as well as building hardware components used by space agencies throughout the world.

    Opis:
    Field, microscopic and X-ray investigation of blocks of pyramid constructed Abu Rowash were performed. Investigation showed the pyramid is constructed on specially prepared hill where slopes are cut in form of steeps and blocks constitute only the cover. Mineralogy and petrograpgy as well as X-ray examination confirmed the use of gypsum mortar for fixation of blocks. Moreover examination document that blocks used for pyramid construction are of other structure and texture than limestones constituting the core of pyramid.

    Opis:
    The human sera often contain substances which interfere in the course of immunochemical reactions. It is essential for the control sera used to determine concentrations of antigen of the prostate not to contain such ingredients. The aim of this study was to test the control sera, three producers, containing low (N) and high (P) concentrations of prostate antigen (tPSA). As a factor blocking the interfering actions, the TRU Bloc Meridian Life Science, Inc. reagent was used which contains antibodies against mouse protein and rheumatoid factor. The sera with a low concentration of tPSA demonstrated the presence of interfering substances.

    Prevalence of Borrelia burgdorferi sensu lato in ticks, Ixodes ricinus in Tarnowskie Góry district. Borrelia burgdoiferi is an aetiological factor of borreliosis (Lyme disease). The main vectors of Borrelia burgdoiferi are larvae, nymphs, and females of Ixodes ricinus. The aim of this paper was to analyse infection parameters of Borrelia burgdoiferi in a selected populations of Ixodes ricinus. The study was conducted in Tarnowskie Góry administrative district (Krupski Młyn, Zielona, Lubliniec, Tarnowskie Góry, Świerklaniec, Tworóg, and Zbrosławice). A total of 85 ticks were collected with a piece of cloth dragged over the vegetation. The Borrelia burgdoiferi infection was confirmed with a PCR method, using flagellin protein gene DNA amplification. DNA of Borrelia burgdeiferi sensu lato was present in 14 ticks, which constituted 16.5% of the population studied. The percentage of infected females and nymphs was 26.8%, 22.2%, and 5.6%, respectively. A high prevalence of the pathogen (50%) was in ticks revealed in the recreation areas and the community forest in Świerklaniec.

    Opis:
    This paper addresses issues associated with distributed computing systems and the application of mixed GPU&CPU technology to data encryption and decryption algorithms. We describe a heterogenous cluster HGCC formed by two types of nodes: Intel processor with NVIDIA graphics processing unit and AMD processor with AMD graphics processing unit (formerly ATI), and a novel software framework that hides the heterogeneity of our cluster and provides tools for solving complex scientific and engineering problems. Finally, we present the results of numerical experiments. The considered case study is concerned with parallel implementations of selected cryptanalysis algorithms. The main goal of the paper is to show the wide applicability of the GPU&CPU technology to large scale computation and data processing.

    Opis:
    A new sensitive analytical method was developed.The method enables guantitative analysis of formaldehyde ( up to 0.75 nmol per 1 cm3 reaction mixture) in agueous solutions and municipal sewage.For the purpose of the study,use was made of the non-cancerogenic chromogen,3,3' , 5,5' - tetramenthylobenzidine (TMB),which is oxidized by hydrogen peroxide in the peroxidase reaction to form a dye (which can be determined by photometry).The objective of the present study was to examine the eficiency of the enzymatic kit ALCOTEST ( containing alcohol oxidase,peroxidase,chromogen and buffering components ) when used for the determination of formaldehyde in water solutions and municipal sewage.
