Opis:
Lithium-ion (Li-ion) battery has become a primary energy form for a variety of engineering equipments. To ensure the equipments’ reliability, it is crucial to accurately predict Liion battery’s remaining capacity as well as its remaining useful life (RUL). In this study, we propose a novel method for Li-ion battery’s online RUL prediction, which is based on multiple health indicators (HIs) and can be derived from the battery’s historical operation data. Firstly, four types of indirect HIs are built according to the battery’s operation current, voltage and temperature data respectively. On this basis, a generalized regression neural network (GRNN) is presented to estimate the battery’s remaining capacity, and the nonlinear autoregressive approach (NAR) is applied to predict the battery’s RUL based on the estimated capacity value. Furthermore, to reduce the interference, twice wavelet denoising are performed with different thresholds. A case study is conducted with a NASA battery dataset to demonstrate the effectiveness of the method. The result shows that the proposed method can obtain Li-ion batteries’ RUL effectively.

Opis:
Load impact, such as the rockfall, may bring significant threats to the integrity management of pipeline. This study is intended to evaluate the reliability of buried pipeline under rockfall impact, and so as to reduce the possible failure and unnecessary downtime. Firstly, the dynamic response of the buried pipeline under load is analyzed by Euler Bernoulli foundation beam. After that, the process of rockfall impact on buried corroded pipeline is simulated with nonlinear finite element method. Furthermore, the influence of rockfall’s parameters (including rockfall mass, impact velocity, impact position, etc.) on the pipeline’s equivalent stress is quantitatively analyzed. Eventually, a time-varying reliability model is established to calculate the failure probability. The results indicate that the mass and velocity of the rockfall have obvious influence on the pipeline’s failure probability, and the change of impact’s position has small influence. The proposed method can provide a theoretical reference for the design and maintenance of buried pipeline.

Opis:
An approach is presented to form and broaden the low-frequency band gap of the double panel structure (DPS) by using a locally resonant sonic crystal (LRSC) in this work. The LRSC is made of cylindrical Helmholtz resonators arranged on square lattice. Their designs are similar to a slot-type resonator, but have different depths of slot. Elongating the slit neck inward and distributing the depths of slots produce a broad local resonant band gap at low frequencies: an average insertion loss (IL) of 10.9 dB covering 520 Hz to 1160 Hz with a LRSC of 12 cm width. Next, the effect of porous material filled into the resonators on the local resonant band gap is evaluated. It is shown that filling of porous material into the resonators decreases the height and width of the local resonant band gap. Finally, the transmission losses (TLs) through the DPS with LRSC are calculated as a function of the incident angle of the sound wave for LRSC embedded in porous material and not. The results show that the porous material can be significantly reduce the incident angle dependency of TL through the DPS with LRSC.

Opis:
The structural phase transition and elastic properties of CoN are investigated by ab initio plane-wave pseudopotential density function theory method. The equilibrium lattice parameters a₀, elastic constants C_{ij}, bulk modulus B₀ and its derivative B'₀ are calculated. From the usual condition of equal enthalpy, the phase transition of CoN from zinc-blende to rocksalt structure occurs at 35.4 GPa with a volume collapse of about 15.6%, consistent with the calculated result 36 GPa (FP-LDA), but an uncertainty is about 4.4 GPa compared with the 31 GPa (ASA-GGA). All three independent elastic constants, C₁₁, C₁₂, and C₄₄ for CoN are calculated from direct computation of stresses generated by small strains. Both C₁₂ and C₄₄ are less sensitive to pressure as compared with C₁₁. The calculated conclusions offer theoretical data for the further research of the mechanical properties for CoN.

Opis:
The study is trying to use ATS (Affective Tutoring System) with emotional calculating technology in the activity of the shell education program. The result is used to study the academic achievement of students with different cognitive styles and system usability. There were 61 fifth-grade children from two different classes participating in this experiment. Every child had to do GEFT (Group Figure-Embedded Test) and academic achievement pre-test before they started the ATS. Then students engaged in ATS learning. Academic achievement post-test was done and the System Usability Scale for Learning Questionnaire after they finished the ATS. The experiment yielded the following results: (1) Learning with ATS not only can give learners an excellent feeling of system usability, but also help learners to promote academic achievement more effectively. (2) According to the system usability and academic achievement, the Field-independent learners were acting better than the Field-dependent learners.
