Opis:
Research background: Peer effects, in which individuals learn and imitate their peers' behaviors, have been widely recognized in different contexts. Particularly, with increasingly fierce competition, firms can no longer make financial decisions in isolation when facing terrible external operational environments. In contrast, observing peers' actions in corporate policies can help reveal intentions regarding what peers are doing, which is vital for policymakers and financial managers. Studies on the existence of capital structure peer effects in the Chinese context have been conducted, but the mechanisms of peer effects are still ambiguous at present. Purpose of the article: This study aims to examine peer effects in capital structure and discover the mechanisms in the Chinese context. Understanding the mechanisms behind peer effects can help scholars and policymakers obtain more insights into the working mechanisms of peer effects. Furthermore, how the industry- and firm-specific characteristics affect peer effects and the selection of mechanisms should be analyzed. Methods: Using the fixed effects model (industry effect and year effect) and propensity score matching (PSM), as well as market leverage and heterogeneous stock shocks, we investigate peer effects, the mechanisms, and the effects of specific factors from industries and firms based on the sample of Chinese non-financial A-share listed firms on the Shanghai and Shenzhen stock markets from 2014 to 2021. Findings & value added: Study results show that peer effects exist in the corporate capital structure in the Chinese capital markets. Unlike previous studies, this analysis captures three mechanisms: the industrial average, industrial leaders, and industrial-similar firms. The intensity of peer effects and selection of mechanisms are influenced by both industry-specific characteristics (the degree of industrial competition and financing constraints) and firm-specific characteristics (firm size and market share).

Opis:
The machining residual stress produced in the cutting process of aluminum alloy parts can easily lead to a scrap of the processed parts. In order to reduce the residual stress of aluminum alloy in the milling process, based on the Taguchi-Grey relational approach, the effects of different milling parameters on the residual stress and surface roughness of 2A12 aluminum alloy were studied. To reduce the residual stress and surface roughness of 2A12 aluminum alloy, optimized milling parameters were obtained. To further reduce the milling residual stress of 2A12 aluminum alloy, the samples processed by the optimized milling parameters were treated by cryogenic treatment and artificial aging. The residual stress of the sample was measured by the blind hole drilling method, and the evolution mechanism of the microstructure to reduce the machining residual stress was revealed. The results show that the combination of deep cooling treatment and oil bath aging can effectively reduce the residual stress on the machined surface of the aluminum alloy and facilitate a more uniform distribution of the residual stress inside the specimen. The effect of the coarse second phase on the residual stress in the microstructure is not significant, and the fine and diffusely distributed precipitation phase is beneficial to the reduction of the residual stress in the aluminum alloy.

Opis:
In this work, thermo-mechanically treated 42CrMo steel was subjected to cryogenic treatment conducted by means of orthogonal design method, followed by low-temperature tempering to investigate the effect of different parameters of cryogenic treatment on wear resistance of 42CrMo steel and to optimize parameters of cryogenic treatment for improving wear resistance. The results of hardness test and wear test show that cryogenic treatment significantly improves wear resistance with marginal changes in coefficient of friction and hardness. Specifically, cryogenic temperature has the largest impact on wear resistance of 42CrMo steel, holding time has medium impact, and the parameter of treatment cycles has the least impact. The optimum parameters of cryogenic treatment are -196°C for 12 hours with one cycle for improving wear resistance. The results of scanning electron microscopy (SEM) and X-ray diffractometry (XRD) analysis indicate that marginal changes in hardness and coefficient of friction may be owing to little amount of transformation of retained austenite, and the significant influence of cryogenic treatment on improving wear resistance of 42CrMo steel can be mainly attributed to segregation of carbon atoms promoted by cryogenic treatment resulting in more precipitation of carbides in subsequent tempering.

Opis:
In this paper, an analytical model is proposed to predict lateral vibration of a drillstring in a vertical well. The effect of parameters, such as stiffness of spring, average weight on bit (WOB), amplitude of fluctuating WOB and so on, on the dynamic stability of the drillstring is discussed. It is found that the interaction between the drillstring and drilling mud has a great influence on drillstring buckling and dynamics. For constant drilling pressure, the mud flow rate stabilizes the drillstring under certain conditions, but the fluctuating WOB drives the drillstring parametric resonance.

Opis:
Taking into account differences between a drill pipe (DP) and a drill collar (DC), the drillstring in a vertical well is modeled as a stepped pipe conveying a drilling fluid downwards to the bottom inside the string and then upwards to the ground from the annulus. An analytical model that describes lateral vibration of the drillstring and involves the drillstring gravity, weight on bit (WOB), hydrodynamic force and damping force of the drilling fluid is established. By analysis of complex frequencies, the influences of WOB, borehole diameter, DP length, velocity and density of the drilling fluid on the stability of the system are discussed.

Opis:
Angle calibrations are widely used in various fields of science and technology, while in the high-precision angle calibrations, a complete closure method which is complex and time-consuming is common. Therefore, in order to improve the measurement efficiency and maintain the accuracy of the complete closure method, an improved calibration method was proposed and verified by the calibration of a high-precision angle comparator with sub-arc-second level. Firstly, a basic principle and algorithm of angle calibration based on complete closure and symmetry connection theory was studied. Then, depending on the pre-established calibration system, the comparator was respectively calibrated by two calibration methods. Finally, by comparing En values of two calibration results, the effectiveness of the improved method was verified. The calibration results show that the angle comparator has a stable angle position error of 0.17′′ and a measurement uncertainty of 0.05′′ (k=2). Through method comparisons, it was shown that the improved calibration method can greatly reduce calibration time and improve the calibration efficiency while ensuring the calibration accuracy, and with the decrease of measurement interval, the improvement of calibration efficiency was more obvious.

Opis:
Lavender (Lavandula angustifolia) is an important medicinal and aromatic plant. However, the application of lavender essential oil (LEO) is limited by its instability, low solubility and high volatility. Therefore, to improve the stabilities and antioxidant activities of LEO and thereby expand the applications, LEO was microencapsulated by metal-organic frameworks based on β-cyclodextrin and potassium cation (K-βCD-MOFs) with different mass core/wall ratios. The results showed that the best inclusion rate was 96.67% with the ratio of 1:10. Then, the optimum inclusion product was characterized by Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy (FTIR) and scanning electron microscope (SEM). The thermal and pH stabilities and the intracellular antioxidant activities were also studied. The results showed that the stabilities of the oil with K-βCD-MOFs inclusions and their abilities to resist acid and alkali were significantly stronger than those of LEO itself. In addition, the intracellular antioxidant activities of LEO were also enhanced by the K-βCD-MOFs inclusion. These results suggested the potential of K-βCD-MOFs as carriers for essential oils in food industry applications.
