Opis:
A novel VC (voice conversion) method based on hybrid SVR (support vector regression) and GMM (Gaussian mixture model) is presented in the paper, the mapping abilities of SVR and GMM are exploited to map the spectral features of the source speaker to those of target ones. A new strategy of F0 transfor- mation is also presented, the F0s are modeled with spectral features in a joint GMM and predicted from the converted spectral features using the SVR method. Subjective and objective tests are carried out to evaluate the VC performance; experimental results show that the converted speech using the proposed method can obtain a better quality than that using the state-of-the-art GMM method. Meanwhile, a VC method based on non-parallel data is also proposed, the speaker-specific information is investigated us- ing the SVR method and preliminary subjective experiments demonstrate that the proposed method is feasible when a parallel corpus is not available.

Opis:
A small gas puff Z-pinch device has been constructed and operated. The device has the parameters: the capacitance of energy storage capacitors 16 mi F, charging voltage 22 kV, peak current 210 kA and a quarter of current period 2.4 mi s. A three-frame Mach-Zehnder interferometer and a compact Thomson ion energy analyzer were developed for Z-pinch plasma experiment. According to the results of diagnostics, the electron density ne of the plasma right before pinch instant is larger than 5.4 × 1019/cm3, the corresponding pinch velocity v of the plasma sheath is 9.0 cm/ěs. Clear parabolas produced by neon ions Ne+, Ne2+, Ne3+ and Ne4+ on CR-39 target have been observed. The energy spectra dN/dTdů for Ne+, Ne2+, Ne3+ and Ne4+ ions were determined. The highest energies of Ne+, Ne2+, Ne3+ and Ne4+ ions emitted from our Z-pinch plasma are below 1.3 MeV.

To study the selectivity of polyacrylamide in the selective floc flotation of fine coal, adsorption of anionic polyacrylamide (PAM A401) onto ultra-low ash coal and kaolinite was studied, including the adsorption thermodynamics, floc size distribution and wettability changes. The thermodynamics of the adsorption process at the low concentration of 0-16 mg/dm3 of PAM A401 were studied at different contact times, doses, temperatures and pH values. Thermodynamic parameters of ΔGo, ΔHo, ΔSo and Ea were evaluated to understand the nature of the adsorption process. The results indicated that PAM A401 was selectively adsorbed onto ultra-low ash coal rather than kaolinite. Physical adsorption was the predominant mechanism, and the adsorption of PAM A401 at 12 mg•dm-3 onto coal was 2.15-fold larger than the adsorption on kaolinite. After the adsorption of PAM A401, the lipophilic hydrophilic ratio (LHR) of coal decreased from 9.23 to 7.28, indicating that the coal became less hydrophobic than before. In contrast, the LHR of kaolinite increased from 1.44 to 1.65. Floc size measurements showed that the d10, d50 and d90 of coal flocculated by PAM A401 (at 12 mg/dm3, pH 6.5) were 3.18, 2.76 and 2.59-fold greater than the corresponding levels of these parameters for kaolinite flocs, respectively.

Opis:
The purpose of this paper was to develop an intelligent recognition system consisting of a feature reduction method combining cluster and correlation analyses, and a probabilistic neural network (PNN) classifier to identify different types of hip shape from 3D measurement for each person. Firstly 28 items reflecting lower body part information of 300 female university students aging from 20 to 24 years were selected. The feature reduction method was employed to extract typical indices. Secondly hip shapes were subdivided into five types by a K-means cluster and analysis of variance (ANOVA). Finally the PNN was then trained to serve as a classifier for identifying five different hip shape types. The average classification accuracy of the scheme proposed was 97.37%, and its effectiveness was successfully validated by comparing with the BP and Support Vector Machine (SVM) scheme. Thus an intelligent recognition system was developed to make hip shape type classification of high-precision and time saving.
Model łączy analizę skupień i korelacji oraz probabilistyczną sztuczną sieć neuronową dla identyfikacji różnych typów kształtów bioder opartą o pomiary 3D poszczególnych osób. Wyselekcjonowano 28 przypadków odzwierciedlających dolną część sylwetki 300 studentek w wieku od 20 do 24 lat. Zastosowano metodę redukcji poszczególnych właściwości dla wybrania typowych wskaźników. Następnie kształt bioder podzielono na 5 typów za pomocą algorytmu klastrowego i systemu ANOVA (analiza wariancji). Następnie przeprowadzono trening sieci neuronowej aby mogła posłużyć jako klasyfikator identyfikacji 5 różnych kształtów bioder. Przeciętna dokładność klasyfikacji proponowanego systemu wynosiła 97,37%, a efektywność była sukcesywnie sprawdzana przez porównanie schematów BP i SVM. W ten sposób stworzono inteligentny system rozpoznania typu kształtu bioder o dużej precyzji, pozwalający na oszczędność czasu.

Shock waves arriving at a dam site are close to plane waves when the center of an underwater explosion is far from the dam site. In general, the wave pressure is calculated with COLE empirical formula. The COLE formula is a negative exponential function with respect to time. In this paper, a new analytical solution algorithm is proposed, which does not require the use of step-by-step time integration. In Comparison with the step-by-step time integration, the proposed algorithm requires relatively less calculation and avoids high-frequency oscillation. Furthermore, the vertical upstream surface and the sloping upstream surface in two types of the dams are analyzed in this paper. The research results indicate that the analytical solution can be applied for a dam with a vertical upstream surface. However, because the upstream face of a dam is inclined, the analytical solution can be obtained only for dams that are at lower height. Whenever the height of a dam is higher, then no analytical solution can be obtained, and only the use of step-by-step time integration can obtain a solution.

In this work, a carbon dioxide laser was used for the color-fading treatment of cotton/kapok denim fabrics. The results were analyzed thoroughly and compared with those of cotton denim fabric and PET denim fabric. Results showed that with laser treatment, the fabrics were colour-faded, and the K/S value of cotton/kapok fabric was reduced, while there was little change in the thickness and permeability. Because the internal air of the kapok fiber was squeezed out, the tensile strength of the fabric was decreased. The influence of laser power and speed on the kapok denim was also investigated. With an increase in the laser power and decrease in the speed, both the K/S values and strength decreased significantly. However, the changes were negligible for the thickness and permeability of the cotton/kapok denim fabric. It is therefore concluded that kapok is a good denim fabric material for the laser process.
Wyniki analizowano i porównywano z wynikami uzyskiwanymi z tkanin denim z bawełny i PET. Wyniki wykazały, że przy zastosowaniu lasera zredukowano intensywność koloru, a wartość K/S została zredukowana przy małych zmianach grubości i przepuszczalności powietrza. Ponieważ wewnętrzne powietrze zawarte we włóknach kapoku było wyciskane na zewnątrz, wytrzymałość tkanin została zmniejszona. Badano również wpływ mocy lasera oraz szybkości przesuwania tkaniny denim na wartość KS i wytrzymałość. Stwierdzono, że wraz ze wzrostem mocy lasera i zmniejszeniem szybkości przesuwu tkaniny zarówno wartość KS jak i wytrzymałość zostały znacznie zmniejszone. Jednakże, zmiany grubości i przepuszczalności powietrza były minimalne. Stwierdzono, że włókna kapok są dobrym materiałem do tkanin typu denim.

Aims: NOX-derived reactive oxygen species (ROS) are mediators of signalling pathways implicated in vascular smooth muscle cell (VSMC) dysfunction in hypertension. Among the numerous redox-sensitive kinases important in VSMC regulation is c-Src. However, mechanisms linking NOX/ROS to c-Src are unclear, especially in the context of oxidative stress in hypertension. Here, we investigated the role of NOX-induced oxidative stress in VSMCs in human hypertension focusing on NOX5, and explored c-Src, as a putative intermediate connecting NOX5-ROS to downstream effector targets underlying VSMC dysfunction. Methods and results: VSMC from arteries from normotensive (NT) and hypertensive (HT) subjects were studied. NOX1,2,4,5 expression, ROS generation, oxidation/phosphorylation of signalling molecules, and actin polymerization and migration were assessed in the absence and presence of NOX5 (melittin) and Src (PP2) inhibitors. NOX5 and p22phox-dependent NOXs (NOX1–4) were down-regulated using NOX5 siRNA and p22phox-siRNA approaches. As proof of concept in intact vessels, vascular function was assessed by myography in transgenic mice expressing human NOX5 in a VSMC-specific manner. In HT VSMCs, NOX5 was up-regulated, with associated oxidative stress, hyperoxidation (c-Src, peroxiredoxin, DJ-1), and hyperphosphorylation (c-Src, PKC, ERK1/2, MLC$_{20}$) of signalling molecules. NOX5 siRNA reduced ROS generation in NT and HT subjects. NOX5 siRNA, but not p22phox-siRNA, blunted c-Src phosphorylation in HT VSMCs. NOX5 siRNA reduced phosphorylation of MLC$_{20}$ and FAK in NT and HT. In p22phox- silenced HT VSMCs, Ang II-induced phosphorylation of MLC$_{20}$ was increased, effects blocked by melittin and PP2. NOX5 and c-Src inhibition attenuated actin polymerization and migration in HT VSMCs. In NOX5 transgenic mice, vascular hypercontractilty was decreased by melittin and PP2. Conclusion: We define NOX5/ROS/c-Src as a novel feedforward signalling network in human VSMCs. Amplification of this system in hypertension contributes to VSMC dysfunction. Dampening the NOX5/ROS/c-Src pathway may ameliorate hypertension-associated vascular injury.

Introduction: Prolonged sitting can acutely reduce working memory (WM) in individuals with overweight and obesity (OW/OB) who show executive function deficits. Interrupting prolonged sitting with brief PA bouts may counter these effects. However, the benefits of such interventions on behavioral and neuroelectric indices of WM and whether neurocognitive responses are associated with postprandial glycemic responses in young and middle- aged adults with OW/OB remain unknown. To address this gap, this study examined the acute effects of interrupting three-hour prolonged sitting every 30 min with 3.5-min moderate-intensity physical activity (MPA) bouts (MPA +SIT condition) relative to sedentary social interaction condition (SOC +SIT) on behavioral measures of WM and the P3b component of event-related potentials (ERP) in young and middle-aged adults with OW/OB. Method: Nineteen adults with OW/OB (63 % females; 29.9 ±7.5 years; BMI =30.0 ±3.64 kg*m2) were included in the SITLess pilot randomized crossover trial. Choice RT and WM were measured before, after, and four times during each condition with 1- and 2-back letter tasks. They were expressed as the incremental area under the curve (iAUC). Choice RT was expressed as d-prime, target, and nontarget accuracy, and RT on the 1- back and nontarget RT on the 2-back task. WM was expressed as d-prime, target accuracy, and RT on the 2-back task. The amplitude of the P3b-ERP component was used to measure attentional resource allocation during both tasks; the P3b-ERP fractional area latency measured cognitive processing before and after each condition. Two-hour postprandial glycemic responses (expressed as iAUC) were measured using an oral glucose tolerance test (OGTT). Time (pre, post) x Condition (MPA + SIT vs. SOC + SIT) interactions and the main effect of Condition (iAUCs) were tested using Linear Mixed Models. Results: No significant intervention effects on glucose were noted (p = 0.74). Compared to SOC + SIT, MPA + SIT resulted in shorter 1-back target P3b latency (F(1, 17.0) = 5.14, p = 0.037; M diff = 9.77, SE = 4.31 ms, 95%CI: 18.9, 0.68) at post-test. No effects on behavioral measures were noted (ps ≥ 0.06). However, the between- condition difference in 1-back P3b latency correlated positively with the between-condition difference in RTs on 1-back;shorter P3b latency was related to shorter RTs in the MPA + SIT relative to SOC + SIT (r = 0.65 and 0.55 for target and nontarget trials, ps ≤ 0.02). Conclusion: Interrupting sitting with short MPA bouts can enhance some aspects of cognitive processing in adults with OW/OB. Future studies are needed to better understand behavioral responses to interrupting prolonged sitting with MPA bouts and the underlying mechanisms.
