Opis:: The paper presents the power conditioning system (PCS) with a five-level cascaded H-bridge converter and supercapacitor energy storage. The paper focuses on such properties of a power electronic converter as its operation, power losses, start-up as well as the DC-link voltage balancing method and controller. A laboratory model of the PCS and its test results have been presented.

Opis:: Three converter leg variants are analyzed for low power converter used for power electronic system for residential buildings. The two-level Si-IGBT and SiC-MOSFET converters are compared with Si-IGBT three-level T-type converter. Power losses generated in each of these converters over a predicted period of 20 years of operation are contrasted with the cost of converter options. The detailed selection procedure for output inductor is presented in this paper. This procedure shows the influence of the inductor parameters like number of turns, air gap length on its losses, cost and size. Theoretical approach is verified with simulations and experimental results.

Opis:: The paper presents power electronic interface destined for prosumers micro-/nano-grids. The presented interface allows integrating different renewable energy sources and energy storages in to the single DC link circuit which is the internal part of the analyzed interface. Presented system enables the operation in two modes. The first is the on-grid mode when the interface is connected to the power grid and the second is the off-grid mode when the interface and prosumer micro-grid are disconnected from the grid and operate in the island mode. One of the major part of the analyzed power electronic interface is the AC/DC converter which is referred here as a grid converter. The paper deals with the operational issues of the interface with focusing on the control of all converters which form the interface. The special attention is paid on control method of the AC/DC converter, which has to be changeable due to the operation of the interface in different modes. Three AC/DC converter control strategies are described here, among which two represent on-grid modes and one is for off-grid operation. The first strategy from the on-grid modes is for the interface with the energy storage but the second is for the interface without this storage. In the third strategy the AC/DC converter operates in islanding mode. The changeable structure of the AC/DC converter controller is illustrated with simulation examples for all three modes.
Artykuł dotyczy interfejsu energoelektronicznego, przeznaczonego dla mikroinstalacji prosumenckich. Rozwiązanie to pozwala na integrację po stronie szyny DC różnych źródeł energii odnawialnej i zasobnika energii oraz umożliwia pracę w trybie on-grid (współpraca z siecią elektroenergetyczną) lub w trybie off-grid (praca na sieć wydzieloną). Z punktu widzenia współpracy z siecią i zasilania odbiorników napięcia przemiennego najważniejszą rolę pełni przekształtnik AC/DC. W artykule omówiono możliwości i działanie interfejsu energoelektronicznego, a następnie skupiono się na zagadnieniach sterowania poszczególnymi przekształtnikami składowymi. Szczególną uwagę poświęcono zagadnieniu sterowania przekształtnika AC/DC, w którym występuje zmiana strategii sterowania w zależności od warunków pracy. Omówiono poszczególne strategie sterowania przekształtnika AC/DC, przeznaczone odpowiednio dla: współpracy z siecią przy występowaniu zasobnika, współpracy z siecią przy braku zasobnika oraz dla pracy na sieć wydzieloną. Przedstawiono algorytm sterowania, a działanie przekształtnika AC/DC zilustrowano wynikami badań symulacyjnych.

Opis:: The paper presents a selected aspects of practical realization of medium voltage 3.3 kV, Power electronic high power drive. The main feature of presented drive is integration (in one casing) squirrel cage induction motor, two converters (the AFE converter (AC/DC), motor inverter (DC/AC)) and the line chokes. This leads to construction the compact drive which can replace classical squirrel cage induction motor and Allowi additionally: adjustable speed control in full range, operation as a motor or as a generator, quasi-sinusoidal line currents and power factor close to one. Additionally explosion proof construction of the drive ensures possibility of operation of the drive in potentially explosive environments. Construction and topology of converter used in the drive is presented in the paper. Selected problems related to construction and assembling the drive are described. Features of the drive and selected results of operation of the integrated drive (850 kW) are detailed described in the paper. These results cover operation of the drive at different speed levels in operations in motoring and regenerative breaking modes and results of thermal tests.
W artykule przedstawiono problematykę związaną z realizacją zintegrowanego napędu przekształtnikowego średniego napięcia 3,3 kV, dużej mocy. Charakterystyczne dla tego napędu jest to, że w jednej obudowie zintegrowano silnik indukcyjny klatkowy z dwoma przekształtnikami: sieciowym – AC/DC i silnikowym DC/AC oraz dławik sieciowy. Dzięki temu, w zwartej konstrukcji, uzyskano układ napędowy, który zastępuje klasyczny silnik klatkowy i umożliwia: płynną regulację prędkości obrotowej w pełnym zakresie, pracę napędu w czterech ćwiartkach układu współrzędnych moment-prędkość oraz zachowanie quasi-sinusoidalnego prądu sieci przy współczynniku mocy bliskim jedności. Dodatkowo wykonanie tego napędu w obudowie przeciwwybuchowej umożliwia jego stosowanie w środowisku zagrożonym wybuchem. W artykule omówiono właściwości i topologię przekształtnika, wybrane zagadnienia związane z konstrukcją i budową oraz wybrane wyniki badań laboratoryjnych prototypowego zintegrowanego napędu o mocy 850 kW. Wyniki badań uzyskano dla pracy napędu przy różnych prędkościach obrotowych w stanie napędzania i hamowania.

Opis:: Artykuł prezentuje zagadnienia dotyczące napędu przekształtnikowego średniego napięcia 3,3 kV, zintegrowanego z silnikiem indukcyjnym klatkowym dużej mocy. W artykule przedstawiono właściwości napędu i przekształtników, wybrane zagadnienia konstrukcyjne i techniczne oraz wybrane wyniki badań prototypowego napędu zintegrowanego o mocy 850 kW. Badania te dotyczą analizy pracy napędu w różnych stanach statycznych i dynamicznych oraz analizy termicznej napędu.
The paper presents aspects of realization of medium voltage 3,3 kV power electronic drive integrated with high power induction motor. The drive consists of two converters, the grid-side converter (AC/DC) and motor side converter (DC/AC) that have been integrated in one explosion-proof enclosure with squirrel cage induction motor and the line inductors which are needed for proper operation of AC/DC converter. The integration leads to the construction of the compact drive which allows controlling the motor in full range of speed and can be used instead of the classical induction motor. For any speed it is possible to operate as a motor or as a generator with energy recuperation to the grid. Additionally, the drive system ensures achieving quasi-sinusoidal line currents and power factor close to one. Explosion-proof construction of the drive makes it possible to operate in potentially explosive environments. The paper presents properties of the drive and converters, technical aspects of construction of the drive and selected results of tests of prototype of the integrated drive with the rated power of 850 kW. These results cover operation of the drive in steady state and during transients. The analysis of thermal aspects of operation of the drive is also presented in the paper.
