Opis:
A Lagrangian based method is used to derive an analytical model for studying the dynamics of matter-wave bright soliton created in a harmonic potential which is attractive in the transverse direction and expulsive in the longitudinal direction. By means of sech trial functions and a Ritz optimization procedure, evolution equations are constructed for width, amplitude and nonlinear frequency chirp of the propagating soliton of the atomic condensate. Our equation for the width is an exact agreement with that of Carr and Castin, obtained by more detailed analysis. In agreement with the experiment of Paris group, the expulsive potential is found to cause the soliton to explode for N|$a_s$|=0.98, N being the number of atoms in the condensate and $a_s$ -- the scattering length of the atom-atom interaction.

Opis:
Motion of kink solitons in the φ$\text{}^{4}$ model in the presence of external spatially inhomogeneous forces is studied. Depending on the system parameters various routes to chaos, i.e. Feigenbaum's scenario, type-I intermittency, and chaos-chaos intermittency are observed. Synchronization of chaotic solitons is investigated.

Opis:
Soliton evolution in spatially extended Josephson junction is studied for three types of ad hoc structural potentials describing tunnelling magnetic flux vortices; symmetric, ratchet and double-well. Setting from the inline geometry of the junction, the soliton dynamics could be modelled by the perturbed sine-Gordon equation. Numerical solutions of the latter equation yielded the soliton waves of the fluxon phase, for boundary conditions imposed on the system upon variation of the dispersion parameter α. It has been found that a change in the soliton waveform and intensity occurs as α goes higher, in dependence on the functional of the potential and its symmetry properties. For ratchet and double-well potential at α=0.5, a time-dependent forcing has been found to endorse the balance between dispersion and nonlinearity, jointly with enhancing the stability of the soliton wave. The McLoughlin-Scott perturbation theory has been adopted to show that the system conserves energy due to the delicate balance between nonlinearity and dispersion, so that the soliton keeps robust as it temporally evolves.

Opis:
In this paper, we study general solutions of the new fifth order nonlinear evolution and the Burgers KP equations with the aid of the two variables (G'/G,1/G)-expansion method. The kink, bell-shaped solitary wave, periodic and singular periodic solutions are obtained. Finally, the numerical simulations add to these obtained solutions.

Opis:
A (3+1)-dimensional Burgers equation is studied by the singular manifold method. By choosing different seed solutions, auto-Bäcklund transformation, the Cole-Hopf transformation and a functional separation exact solution containing two low dimensional arbitrary functions are obtained for the equation in question. Some interesting localized coherent structures are given and their interaction properties are numerically studied. Some new nonlinear phenomena are reported.

Opis:
This paper obtains solitons and other solutions to the perturbed Rosenau-KdV-RLW equation that is used to model dispersive shallow water waves. This equation is taken with power law nonlinearity in this paper. There are several integration tools that are adopted to solve this equation. These are Kudryashov method, sine-cosine function method, G'/G-expansion scheme and finally the exp-function approach. Solitons and other solutions are obtained along with several constraint conditions that naturally emerge from the structure of these solutions.

Opis:
We study the stability of the continuous waves in the pancake shaped dipolar Bose-Einstein condensate trapped in the strong optical lattice potential with the coexisting local (the short-range s-wave) interaction and nonlocal (the dipole-dipole) interactions between the condensate atoms. The system is modeled by two two-dimensional discrete models derived from the Gross-Pitaevskii equation accounting the dipole-dipole interactions: discrete nonlinear Schrödinger equation with cubic nonlinearity and nonpolynomial Schrödinger equation. The corresponding dispersion relations are calculated analytically and the regions of the modulation instability in the parametric space are summarized into the stability diagrams.

Opis:
We use a variational method to construct soliton solutions for systems characterized by opposing dispersion and competing nonlinearities at fundamental and second harmonics. We show that both ordinary and embedded solitons tend to gain energy when the second harmonic field becomes weaker than the first harmonic field.

A generalized G'/G-expansion method is extended to construct exact solutions for the Gross-Pitaevskii equation with weak bias magnetic and time-dependent laser fields. Many types of exact solutions including hyperbolic function solution, trigonometric function solution and rational exact solution with parameters are obtained. In addition, soliton solutions are found.
