Opis:: Sacrifices were the principal act in Israel's cult. The article treats about expiatory sacrifices in ancient lsrael. The purpose ofthese sacrifices is to re-establish the covenant with God. Autbor describes the circumstances when expiatory sacrifices should be offered and then explains difference between the sacrifice for sin (hattath) and the sacrifice of reparation (asham). He also gives the scheme of the ritual of expiatory sacrifices. Theological meaning o f these sacrifices is shortly presented in the conclusion.

Opis:: Święty Paweł podczas swoich podróży misyjnych spotykał wiele kultur i państw. Apostoł narodów tak, jak został przedstawiony w Dziejach Apostolskich, szanował swych adresatów, gdy próbował ich przekonać, że chrześcijaństwo jest religią prawdziwą. W jego wystąpieniach zawsze pojawia się napięcie pomiędzy wezwaniem do oddawania czci jedynemu Bogu a wolną wolą ludzi, którzy mogą odrzucić Dobrą Nowinę i czcić własnych bogów. Szczególne znaczenie dla przedmiotu naszych badań będą miały przemówienia w Antiochii Pizydyjskiej (najdłuższe przemówienie Pawła w Dziejach Apostolskich) do Żydów – Dz 13,16-41, przemówienie w Listrze do pogan – Dz 14,15-17, przemówienie w Atenach do Greków – Dz 17,22-31. W tych fragmentach Paweł ujawnia swoje przekonania i strategię działania; docenia pozytywne strony dotychczasowych wierzeń, ale podkreśla także konieczność prawdziwego kultu.
Saint Paul come across many cultures and states during his missionary journeys. Apostle of Nations, as he is depicted in Acts, respected the addressees when he tried to convince them that Christianity is the true religion. In his speeches there is always a tension between the call to worship one God and free will of people who can reject the Good News and venerate their own gods. Of particular importance for the subject of our study will be the speeches in Antioch of Pisidia (the longest speech of Paul in Acts) to the Jews – Acts 13,16-41, the speech in Lystra to pagans – Acts 14,15-17, the speech in Athens to Greeks – Acts 17,22-31. In these passages Paul reveals his convictions and strategy. He appreciates the positive sides of previous believes but stresses also the necessity of the true cult.

Prv 8, 22-31 è testo fondamentale per scoprire quale sia il rapporto tra la Sapienza e Dio ed anche quale fu il ruolo della Sapienza nell’opera della creazione del mondo. Per poter capire tali questioni dobbiamo prima affrontare il grande problema costituito dal versetto 30a. In esso troviamo la perenne crux ìnterpretum legata alla parola ’amóri. Problematico non è soltanto il suo significato, ma anche il suo ruolo sintattico nella frase.

Opis:: The dielectric behaviour of a magnetic fluid with magnetite particles dispersed in kerosene was analyzed. Therefore, the frequency (f) and temperature (T) dependences of the complex dielectric permittivity, ε (f, T), over the ranges 4 kHz to 2 MHz and 25C to 90C were measured. Based on the experimental results of ε (f, T) and using the Clausius-Mossotti equation, we have determined the temperature dependence of the real part of the total polarizability α', of a magnetic fluid. The computations have taken into account that the magnetic fluid consists of three components, namely magnetite particles, surfactant, and carrier liquid. The results show that at a given frequency, α' increases with temperature in the low frequency range (4 kHz to 100 kHz) and decreases with temperature above 100 kHz. This behaviour demonstrates that in low frequency range the polarization mechanism related to the deformation of the counter ions atmosphere around each particle is predominant and above 100 kHz the orientation of the dipole moments is the main polarization mechanism of the magnetic fluid. These measurements enabled the evaluation of the effective dipole moment of the magnetic fluid, in order of $1.21 \times 10^{-30} C m$.

Opis:: In the present paper, we study the stability of (9, 0), (10, 0), (11, 0) carbon nanotubes functionalized with simple organic molecules $-CH_{n}$ (for n = 2, 3, 4). Our studies are based on ab initio calculations within the framework of the density functional theory. We determine binding energies of the functionalized carbon nanotubes and the changes in the geometry and electronic structure caused by the functionalization. We observe the characteristic effects such as rehybridization of the bonds induced by fragments attached to carbon nanotubes and pentagon/heptagon (5/7) defects in $-CH_{2}$ functionalized carbon nanotubes. We study also dependence of the binding energies of the functionalized carbon nanotubes on the density of the adsorbed molecules and diameter of the single-wall carbon nanotubes. Our calculations reveal that the $-CH_{2}$ fragments exhibit the strongest cohesion and we determine the critical density of the $-CH_{2}$ fragments which could be adsorbed.

Opis:: The undertaken analysis of Lk 22,31-32 (in relation to Lk 9,28-36 and Acts 12,1-17) allowed us to perceive Peter, who is an example of intercessory prayer, meaning the unceasing and effective prayer of Christ for him (and all of his successors). This prayer, joined with the prayer of the Church, saves Peter (as well as every Christian), assists in his conversion and brings him back to the community. Peter felt the prayers of Christ and the Church, he gave witness to it, and in this way strengthened the faith of his brothers. Peter is a clear sign of the presence of Jesus in the Church the strength of His intercessory prayer.

Opis:: In the present paper, we study the effects of functionalization of graphene with simple organic molecules OH, and $NH_2$, focusing on the stability and band gaps of the structures. We have performed DFT calculations for graphene supercells with various numbers of the attached molecules. We have determined adsorption energies of the functionalized graphene mono- and bilayers, the changes in the geometry, and the band structure. We observe the characteristic effects such as rehybridization of the bonds induced by fragments attached to graphene and opening of the graphene band gap by functionalization. We have also studied the dependence of the adsorption energies of the functionalized graphene on the density of the adsorbed molecules. Our calculations reveal that the -OH and $-NH_2$ groups exhibit the strong cohesion to graphene layers. Further, we determine the critical density of the OH fragments which lead to the opening of the band gap. We also show how to engineer the magnitude of the band gap by functionalizing graphene with $NH_2$ groups of various concentrations.

Opis:: In this communication, we present results of theoretical studies of various systems where Van der Waals interaction plays a considerable role. In the first-principle calculations performed in the density functional theory framework we implement novel functionals accounting for Van der Waals forces and employ to the test cases of graphite and graphene layers. It turns out that this approach provides a solution to the long standing problem of overbinding between graphene layers in bulk graphite, giving the distance between the carbon layers in excellent agreement with experiment. In graphene bilayers, Van der Waals functionals lead to energetic barriers for A-B to A-A ordering of graphene bilayers that are by a factor of two smaller than the barriers obtained with standard functionals. It may be of crucial importance, particularly, if one uses atomistic ab initio methods as a starting point for multi-scale modeling of materials and for determination of effective potentials.

Opis:: The DFT estimates of magnetic couplings in molecular nanomagnets are computationally demanding and their values have not achieved the satisfactory accuracy in spite of a lot of effort. We concentrate here on comprehensive tests for predictions of the recently proposed augmented symmetry approach aiming at reducing the computational complexity of the DFT calculations which is particularly important for the Wien2k code. Using the B3LYP functional, we demonstrate the numerical stability of magnetic couplings, magnetic moments and the HOMO-LUMO gaps, changing the fraction of exact exchange α. We reach the significant gain in the computing time without a loss in the accuracy of the final results with respect to those obtained by the standard PBE approach. We conclude that the value α=0.25 leads to best estimation of magnetic couplings for hybrid functionals within Wien2k.
