Opis:
We investigate the propagation of a pulse field in an optomechanical system. We examine the question of advance of the pulse under the conditions of electromagnetically induced transparency in the mechanical system contained in a high quality cavity. We show that the group delay can be controlled by the power of the coupling field. The time delay is negative which corresponds to superluminal light when there is a strong coupling between the nano-oscillator and the cavity.

Opis:
In this paper we discuss the line shapes of a two-level atom in the presence of broad-band squeezed vacuum and collisional broadening. We describe the collisions and the squeezed vacuum using a stochastic model of Rabi amplitude fluctuations. From such a stochastic description the fast and the slow damping rates of the Bloch polarizations are obtained. The strong field resonance fluorescence spectrum in the presence of stochastic broad-band squeezed vacuum and collisions is derived.

Opis:
Lasing on the sodium resonance transitions (D$\text{}_{1}$ and D$\text{}_{2}$ lines) at the superluminosity regime was observed upon the non-resonance excitation in the presence of a buffer gas. Dependences of the lasing intensity on the pump radiation intensity and its frequency detuning from the frequencies of resonance transitions were examined. It was found that under the specific experimental conditions (high buffer gas pressure, sufficiently high intensity of pump radiation) upon the large positive frequency detuning of pump radiation with respect to the frequency of resonance ("working") transition, contrary to ingrained conceptions, population inversion for the "working" transition is raised. That results in the observed phenomena.

Opis:
By using the double-lambda configuration of energy levels and three classical fields, an atom or ion in a high-Q resonant cavity can be manipulated to create a single-mode quantum state in the cavity that is an arbitrary combination of Fock states for that mode. The same principles of operation can be applied to a cavity with much lower Q in order to produce a "photon pistol", a device that "shoots" one and only one photon when a trigger is pulled, and emits no photons at other times.

Opis:
In this work, we study the entanglement dynamics of the damped Jaynes-Cummings model with the transient effects modeled as the linear sweep of the coupling coefficient between the atom and the field. We show that the decoherence of the entanglement can be controlled by the transient effects under the influence of damping. These effects can accelerate and can decelerate the decoherence of the entanglement during the time-evolution of the system, by adjusting the frequency of the Rabi oscillations.

Opis:
We study the spontaneous emission from a regular lateral array or a randomly distributed ensemble of quantum dots under strong excitation (full inversion) conditions. We focus on the similarities and differences between the cases of random and regular arrangement of the dots and show that there is very little difference between the evolution of luminescence in these two cases, both for identical dots and for a realistically inhomogeneously broadened ensemble. This means that the enhanced emission or superradiance effect is not due to accidental clustering of pairs of dots. Moreover, we point out that observation of an enhanced emission under weak excitation does not prove that true superradiance will develop in a fully inverted system.

Opis:
We study the spontaneous emission from a coherently delocalized exciton state in a double quantum dot as a function of the distance between the dots, focusing on the similarities and differences between the cases of radiative (long-range, dipole) and tunnel coupling between the excitons in the dots. We show that there may be no qualitative difference between the collective emission induced by these two coupling types in spite of their essentially different physical properties.

Opis:
We calculate the linear optical response from a single quantum dot molecule and the nonlinear, four-wave-mixing response from an inhomogeneously broadened ensemble of such molecules. We show that both optical signals are affected by the coupling-dependent superradiance effect and by optical interference between the two polarizations. As a result, the linear and nonlinear responses are not identical.
