Opis:: Microstructure and thermomagnetic properties for the Fe₇₅Mo₈Cu₁B₁₆ and Fe₈₁Mo₈Cu₁B₁₀ metallic glasses in the as-quenched state and after heat treatment at 643 K and 723 K are studied. The inverse change of the Curie point was observed for Fe₇₅Mo₈Cu₁B₁₆ metallic glass after annealing below the onset of crystallization. It is attributed to structural relaxation of the amorphous phase. The maximum of magnetic entropy change calculated for magnetic field of 1.0 T occurs for the Fe₇₅Mo₈Cu₁B₁₆ alloy annealed at 643 K at temperature close to the Curie point and equals 0.74 J kg¯¹ K¯¹.

Opis:: Mössbauer spectroscopy was applied, for the first time, to study the interaction of copper ions with the non-heme iron and the heme iron of cytochrome b$\text{}_{559}$ in photosystem II thylakoids isolated from a Chlamydomonas reinhardtii photosystem I minus mutant. We showed that copper ions oxidize the heme iron and change its low spin state into a high spin state. This is probably due to deprotonation of the histidine coordinating the heme. We also found that copper preserves the non-heme iron in a low spin ferrous state, enhancing the covalence of iron bonds as compared to the untreated sample. We suggest that a disruption of hydrogen bonds stabilizing the quinone-iron complex by Cu$\text{}^{2+}$ is the mechanism responsible for a new arrangement of the binding site of the non-heme iron leading to its more "tense" structure. Such a diamagnetic state of the non-heme iron induced by copper results in a magnetic decoupling of iron from the primary quinone acceptor. These results indicate that Cu does not cause removal of the non-heme iron from its binding site. The observed Cu$\text{}^{2+}$ action on the non-heme iron and cytochrome b$\text{}_{559}$ is similar to that previously observed forα-tocopherol quinone.

Opis:: Nanocrystalline samples of Fe$\text{}_{80}$Mo$\text{}_{20}$ and Fe$\text{}_{50}$Mo$\text{}_{50}$ alloys were prepared by the mechanical milling method. The structure, lattice parameters, and crystallite size were determined by the X-ray diffraction. The magnetic properties of the milled products were determined by the M"ossbauer spectroscopy. It was observed that in the case of the Fe$\text{}_{80}$Mo$\text{}_{20}$ alloy a solid solution of Mo in Fe was formed with the lattice parameters of Fe increasing from 0.28659 nm to 0.29240 nm and the crystallite size decreasing from 250 nm to 20 nm. In the case of the Fe$\text{}_{50}$Mo$\text{}_{50}$ alloy there were no clear changes in values of the lattice parameters of Fe and Mo during the milling process, but the crystallite size decreased from 200 nm to 15 nm. Mössbauer spectra revealed different magnetic phases in the mechanosynthesized Fe-Mo samples. In the case of the Fe$\text{}_{80}$Mo$\text{}_{20}$ alloy, the spectrum for the milled mixture indicated the formation of a solid solution. In contrast, for the Fe$\text{}_{50}$Mo$\text{}_{50}$ the spectrum indicated the disappearance of the ferromagnetic phase.

Opis:: This paper presents the results of an investigation into the: microstructure, magnetic properties and influence of annealing temperature on the magnetocaloric effect of Fe₈₂Zr₇Nb₂Cu₁B₈ alloy in the as-quenched and partially crystalline state. The microstructure was investigated using Mössbauer spectroscopy. The magnetocaloric effect was observed as a change in the magnetic entropy, which was calculated from isothermal magnetization curves. Fully-amorphous Fe₈₂Zr₇Nb₂Cu₁B₈ alloys, in the as-quenched state, exhibit a Curie temperature equal to (340±5) K. The transmission Mössbauer spectrum for the as-quenched Fe₈₂Zr₇Nb₂Cu₁B₈ alloy is typical for weak ferromagnets with the average hyperfine field of 9.86(2) T. For this alloy in the as-quenched state, the changes in maximum magnetic entropy occur near the Curie points and are equal to 0.95 J/(kg K). Also, the maximum magnetic entropy changes decrease after partial crystallization.

Opis:: According to the most literature data, the skin is usually observed as a simple structure with equivalent electrical model, which includes general properties of epidermis, basal membrane and dermis. In this paper, we analyzed the skin structure as a more complex system. Particularly we analyzed epidermis based on layers approach and its water organization in lipids ordered in sub-layers. Using opto-magnetic spectroscopy method, which is very sensitive to paramagnetic/diamagnetic properties of the tissue, we found out that nanowater structure ordering in lipids of epidermal layers play very important role in skin properties. We use bioimpedance as complementary and compatible method to opto-magnetic spectroscopy in skin characterization. In our investigation we found out the difference of the skin properties of the people who are drinking two different type of water (Z and N). We observed the significant difference in middle part of stratum granulosum, where water-lipid sub-layers exists. These results indicate importance of water nanolayers presence in epidermis and type of drinking water reflecting on human skin properties.
