W artykule podjęto próbę zastosowania do opisu wskazanych zjawisk teorii działań celem zweryfikowania czy ta perspektywa poznawcza pozwala zadać nowe pytania i znaleźć ewentualne nowe wyjaśnienia dla procesów tak istotnych dla innowacyjności.
Dual networks that are expected to enable organizations to gain access to both local and global knowledge and next to transfer and co-create new solutions are a field of interest of learning and knowledge creation theory. Key factors decide on the success of strategies that entail building organizational knowledge resources based on external resources located on both many different level within the organization and outside the organization and they are more and more thoroughly described by commonly known theories of learning, social capital or clustering. The paper aims at analyzing those phenomena making use of activity theory in order to verify whether this theoretical perspective allows researchers to ask new questions as well as to find possible new explanations for processes as important for the innovativeness as those under discussion in the paper.

Opis:: The study aims at portraying EFL learners’ interactivity and motivational dynamics when engaged in team-based mobile learning (TBML) through WhatsApp within the environment of English for Academic Purposes. Data were collected through survey on online learning engagement and learning motivation and analyzed using descriptive statistics coupled with correlation analysis. Thematic analysis was operative to analyze students’ reflection for more fine-grained insights on the nature of collaborative mobile learning, supported with directed content analysis geared to Activity Theory (AT) on the archives of group’s online discussion. Albeit technical challenges and negative affectivity therefrom, the findings emphasize the potency of WhatsApp as a social-network (SN) learning platform which engages language learners in supportive micro and macro learning environment as the pre-cursor to elevated motivation, self-regulation, and pedagogical rethinking. The implication highlights teacher’s necessity to scaffold group dynamics and condition student’s mentality to live the target language in the mobile learning.

Opis:: Urban crime is differentiated among space and time. Recognition of temporal patterns of urban crime will help us for better understanding crime phenomenon in the city. The routine activity theory is the most widespread methodological framework of its empirical research. Tempo, rhythm, and timing of the routine activities are crucial for understanding temporal crime patterns. It is proved that the particular seven types of crime (Fights and battery, Robbery, Drug crimes, Residential crimes, Commercial crimes, Car crimes, Theft of property) have different temporal pattern in: long-run, seasonal, monthly, weekly, and daily patterns of urban crimes, taking the city of Gdynia in the years 2004-2014 as an example.

Opis:: The present paper focuses on classroom discourse from the perspective of Sociocultural Theory. This theory, represented mainly by Vygotsky (1978), Leont'ev (1978) and Wertsch (1985), has been applied to second language acquisition by researchers such as Lantolf (1994). Firstly, the paper presents the view of language and language learning and the main constructs in sociocultural SLA, such as mediation through social interaction, mediation by means of private speech, internalization, the zone of proximal development, and Activity Theory. The methodology of sociocultural research is also taken into consideration. Secondly, the paper describes a number of studies into classroom discourse which are discussed in reference to the constructs mentioned above. Thirdly and finally, the paper provides some evaluation of the theory in question.

Opis:: The aim of the article is to review and benchmark the current concepts in the psychology of human successful aging. The diverse nature of the process of aging underlies the distinction between normal, pathological and successful aging. Psychological concepts of successful aging in humans adopt common assumption that it is possible to take certain actions substantiating optimal course of this process. At the same time a summary of approaches appropriate to particular concepts allows for their classification, which results in the separation of three specific groups of them. Their specificity may be expressed by the following terms: "lifestyle", "description" and "mechanism". This article includes characteristics of emerged groups of concepts and indicates the extent of their usefulness and limitations.

Opis:: The article in question has come into being as a result of the research and analysis of effects and social problems that was carried out in 2000 in Siemianowice Śląskie. The considerations among the others pertained to a relevant issue such as the feeling of social safety of the elderly in the system of social assistance. The analysis confirmed that the system of social assistance gives the feeling of safety in financial terms but it doesn’t satisfy all wants of the elderly. As a result the people take up various activities that help them to feel safer in their society. The elderly look for such areas that give satisfaction and make them being needed. The problem of ageing forces us somehow to create programmes or projects in order to keep the elderly independent and self-sufficient for as long as possible. This means that local policy should definitely focus on the areas that go further than health care and social assistance for the elderly.
Artykuł powstał w oparciu o badania oraz analizy zjawisk i problemów społecznych, jakie prowadzono od 2000 r. w Siemianowicach Śląskich. Podjęte rozważania odnoszą się m.in. do istotnej kwestii, jaką jest poczucie bezpieczeństwa społecznego osób starszych w systemie pomocy społecznej. W wyniku analiz otrzymano potwierdzenie, że system wsparcia społecznego daje poczucie bezpieczeństwa w zakresie świadczeń finansowych, ale nie zaspokaja wszystkich potrzeb osób starszych. Z tego powodu seniorzy dążą do podejmowania różnych aktywności, które pozwalają im zaspokoić inne potrzeby składające się na poczucie bezpieczeństwa społecznego. Osoby starsze poszukują takich obszarów aktywności, które dają zarówno satysfakcję, jak i poczucie bycia potrzebnym. W dobie starzenia się społeczeństwa, w tym społeczności Siemianowic Śląskich, należy podejmować działania w postaci programów czy projektów, które pozwolą osobom starszym na jak najdłuższe zachowanie samodzielności i niezależności. To oznacza, że lokalna polityka wobec osób starszych i starości powinna wykraczać swym zakresem daleko poza ochronę zdrowia i pomoc społeczną jako obszary zorientowane na osoby starsze.

Opis:: In my paper I show the relevance of cultural-activity theory for solving the puzzles of the concept of consciousness which encounter contemporary philosophy. I reconstruct the main categories of cultural-activity theory as developed by M.M. Bakhtin, L.S. Vygotsky, G.H. Mead, and J. Dewey. For the concept of consciousness the most important thing is that the phenomenon of human consciousness is consider to be an effect of intersection of language, social relations, and activity. Therefore consciousness cannot be reduced to merely sensual experience but it has to be treated as a complex process in which experience is converted into language expressions which in turn are used for establishing interpersonal relationships. Consciousness thus can be accounted for by its reference to objectivity of social relationships rather than to the world of physical or biological phenomena.

Opis:: The aim of this paper is to review the possible causes of violence against women by their male partners. The paper presents statistical analyses conducted among male prisoners and draws on selected scientific theories to study the determinants of the discussed phenomenon. The conclusions drawn from the research allow us to draw a portrait of the perpetrator, to identify areas of preventive measures and suggest further research on the topic.

Opis:: Celem niniejszego artykułu jest ukazanie problemu czasu wolnego ludzi starszych w perspektywie teorii aktywności. Punktem wyjścia podjętych rozważań było wyjaśnienie pojęć „starość” i „starzenie się”. W dalszej kolejności przedstawiono ważniejsze zagadnienia dotyczące aktywności człowieka w okresie późnej dorosłości oraz zaprezentowano główne założenia teorii aktywności. Następnie określono pojęcie czasu wolnego, omówiono cechy aktywności wolnoczasowej, a także wskazano na funkcje czasu wolnego. Zwrócono również uwagę na strukturę budżetu czasu seniorów oraz dominujące wśród nich typy aktywności wolnoczasowej. W następnej kolejności przedstawiono problem czasu wolnego ludzi starych w kontekście teorii aktywności, zwracając szczególną uwagę na zagadnienia dotyczące aktywizacji seniorów.
The purpose of this article is to show the problem of the leisure time of older people from the perspective of activity theory. The starting point for these considerations was to clarify the concepts of “old age” and “aging”. Next, the most important issues of human activity in late adulthood were presented, and the main assumptions of activity theory were described. Then, the concept of leisure time was defined, the features of leisure time activity were discussed, and the functions of leisure time were indicated. Attention was also paid to the structure of the time budget of seniors and the types of leisure time activity dominating among them. Also the problem of leisure time of old people in the context of activity theory was presented, with special attention paid to the issues of activation of seniors.
