Opis:: Celem artykułu jest przedstawienie wyników badania dotyczącego organizacji systemu rachunkowości w getcie łódzkim (Litzmannstadt Getto) w latach 1940–1944. W wyniku badania ustalono, że system rachunkowości w getcie łódzkim był w wysokim stopniu uporządkowany z rozbudowaną wewnętrzną strukturą, co pozostawało w sprzeczności z warunkami funkcjonowania żydowskiej dzielnicy zamkniętej. Przeprowadzono badania z wykorzystaniem dokumentów archiwalnych, pochodzące przede wszystkim z Archiwum Państwowego w Łodzi, z zespołu Przełożony Starszeństwa Żydów w łódzkim getcie. Wartykule przedstawiono m.in. charakterystykę dotychczasowego stanu badań, zastosowanego podej-ścia badawczego, opis struktur administracji oraz przedsiębiorstw działających w getcie, badanie organi-zacji rachunkowości, rewizji finansowej, szkoleń z zakresu księgowości. Jako podejście badawcze zasto-sowano teorię społeczną Z. Baumana, dotyczącą kwestii racjonalności woli przetrwania. Artykuł jest, według wiedzy autora, pierwszą próbą zbadania organizacji systemu rachunkowości w getcie łódzkim, przeprowadzoną z perspektywy żydowskich księgowych.
The purpose of the article is to present research findings that deal with the organization of the accounting system in the Lodz ghetto. As a result of the research, it was found that the accounting system in the Lodz ghetto was characterized by a high degree of orderliness and an extensive internal structure, which were in conflict with the conditions of how the closed Jewish district functioned. Archival empirical research was carried out, covering mainly materials collected in the State Archives in Lodz The article presents characteristics of the current state of research, an applied research approach, a description of the adminis-trative structures and enterprises operating in the ghetto, an examination of how accounting was orga-nized, financial audit, and training in accounting. Bauman's social theory regarding the rationality of the will to survive was used as the research approach. The article is, to the best of the author's knowledge, the first attempt to examine the organization of the accounting system in the Lodz ghetto, carried out from the perspective of the Jewish accountants.

Opis:: Accountants in Poland have recently had the opportunity to celebrate the 20th anniversary of the introduction of the Accounting Act. The act was passed by the Polish Parliament in 1994. 500 years earlier, a treaty on double-entry accounting system was published by Pacioli. The publishing of Tractatus XI. Particularis de computis et scripturis was a momentous event marking the beginning of a new field of economics. Double-entry accounting was in use since Cotrugli introduce it some thirty years before Pacioli published his work. Recently, in accounting as well as in economics, emphasis has been put on ethics, moral values, and professional attitudes. It is worth considering whether, or to what extent, these were present in the early works of accountancy from 550 years ago and how accountants approached these matters at the beginning of the written history of accounting. This article presents the main ideas included in the guidelines set by Pacioli and Cotrugli regarding double-entry systems and investigates if ethical guidelines were present there. It turns out that the author of an essential work in the history of accounting, as well as his predecessor, devoted much attention to the moral attitude of the merchant, their appropriate behaviour, their attitude towards customers, and their colleagues and competitors.

Opis:: Accountants recently had the opportunity to celebrate 20 years of existence in Poland the regulating of accounting. The act was adopted by parliament in 1994. 500 years before the treaty about double accounting was reprinted by Pacioli. The edition of Tractatus XI. Particularis de computis et scripturis was an (epic) epoch-making event designating the beginning of a new field of economic sciences. The idea of the double accounting was known before, not only because of Pacioli, but also through Cotruglio, who described it 36 years earlier. Recently in accounting, as well as in the broadly understood economy, there is a particular emphasis put on ethics, moral values and professional attitudes. It is worth considering whether and on what scale they were present in the early works of Accountancy 550 years ago, how their representatives approached the subjects the beginning of a written history of accounting. The article presents the main ideas included in the guidelines Pacioli and Cotruglio regarding double accounting, and identifies if ethical guidelines were presents among others guidelines. It turns out that the author of the essential work in the history of accounting, as well as its predecessor, devoted much attention to the moral attitude of the merchant, his appropriate behavior, attitude towards customers and other people, with whom he has a business relationship.

Opis:: Celem artykułu jest zbadanie zmian w podejściu do umów leasingu, reprezentowanym przez wiodące instytucje ustanawiające standardy, z uwzględnieniem specyfiki polskich regulacji. Podjęto próbę uzasadnienia tezy, iż podejście do ujmowania umów leasingu w sprawozdaniach finansowych ewoluuje od wynikowego do bilansowego. Na potrzeby realizacji celu dokonano analizy: początkowych podejść do standaryzacji rachunkowości leasingu w USA, standaryzacji rachunkowości leasingu w aspekcie międzynarodowym oraz w Polsce. W celu uzasadnienia tezy zastosowano metodę analizy historycznej, obejmując badaniami lata 1949-2016. Badaniem objęto dokumenty publikowane przez międzynarodowe, amerykańskie i polskie instytucje stanowiące regulacje i standardy w obszarze umów leasingu.
The aim of this article is to examine changes in the approach to leasing, represented by leading institutions establishing standards, taking into account the specifics of Polish regulations. We attempted to justify the thesis that the approach to the accounting for leases in the financial statements has evolved from the recognition in the income statement for recognition in the balance sheet. For the purpose of achieving the analysis: the initial approach to the standardization of lease accounting in the US, accounting standardization process in the area of leasing in an international context standardization of accounting for contracts for the use of assets in Poland. In order to justify the thesis uses the method of historical analysis, including study years 1949-2016. The study included documents published by international, US and Polish institutions.

Opis:: Niniejszy artykuł jest próbą analizy sprawozdawczości finansowej nieruchomości ziemskich w między-wojennej Polsce, jako jednostek prowadzących działalność gospodarczą o charakterze rolniczym. Uwaga czytelnika zostanie skupiona na analizie porównawczej wyselekcjonowanych do badania dokumentów majątków ziemskich i skonfrontowaniu ich kształtu z obowiązującymi przepisami prawa.
This publication attempts to analyze financial reporting of country estates in Poland in the inter-war period as units conducting agricultural business. The aim of the article is to present and compare the balance sheets of some selected manor estates and to present the legal basis for preparation of those documents. The research methods used include critical analysis of source materials and literature, and comparative analysis. This paper provides a definition of real estate, and presents the legal basis for double entry bookkeeping in inter-war Poland and characteristics of financial statements of landed estates. The focus is on comparative analysis of documents of the estates selected for examination and on con-frontation of their shape with applicable law.

Opis:: Celem artykułu było zbadanie zmian w systemie rachunkowości, towarzyszących zastępowaniu pańszczyzny umowami dzierżawy w XVIII-XIX w. Na potrzeby badań zastosowano metody: analizę historyczną obejmującą badania empiryczne o charakterze archiwalnym, a także studia literaturowe z dziedziny historii rachunkowości i historii gospodarczej ziem polskich. W wyniku analizy ustalono, że przejście do gospodarki czynszowej spowodowało konieczność wprowadzenia istotnych zmian w systemie rachunkowości majątków ziemskich, dotyczących: 1) sporządzania inwentarzy dóbr przekazywanych w używanie na podstawie umów dzierżawy, 2) przygotowania rejestrów służących ewidencji czynszów dzierżawnych, 3) ujmowania przychodów z tytułu czynszów dzierżawnych (poprzedzane windykacją należności).
The aim of the article was to examine the changes in the accounting system associated with replacing serfdom lease agreements in the eighteenth and nineteenth centuries. For the study methods were used: historical analysis, including empirical studies of archival studies and literature on the history of accounting and economic history of the Polish lands. The analysis found that the transition to a rent economy made it necessary to make significant changes in the accounting system estates, including: 1) drawing up inventories of goods transferred in use under the lease agreements, 2) preparation of records serving records of rents.

Opis:: Celem niniejszego artykułu jest ocena funkcjonowania sprawozdawczości finansowej w pierwszych latach istnienia Polski Ludowej na przykładzie sprawozdawczości Nadleśnictwa Lipsko. W artykule wykorzystano metodę studium przypadku, analizując poszczególne sprawozdania jednostki na przestrzeni lat 1945-1972. Wyniki wskazują na duży zakres informacyjny sporządzanych sprawozdań, których forma i zawartość były dostosowane do realiów systemu gospodarki komunistycznej. W szczególności służyły one jako sposób weryfikacji stopnia realizacji narzuconych planów gospodarczych. Wyniki badania prowadzą do wniosku, iż w badanych latach sprawozdania ewoluowały - od prostych sprawozdań ewidencjonujących powojenny majątek do sprawozdań finansowych zbliżonych zakresem do współczesnych. Przedstawiony w artykule przypadek wskazuje na szeroki rozwój technik rachunkowości i form sprawozdawczości finansowej, prowadzący do zwiększenia wartości informacyjnej przygotowywanych sprawozdań finansowych. Artykuł stanowi wstęp do szerszych badań rozwoju rachunkowości i sprawozdawczości finansowej w czasach Polski Ludowej.
The aim of this article is to assess the functioning of financial reporting in the first years of the functioning of the People's Republic of Poland, using the example of reporting by the Lipsko Forest District. The article uses the case study method, analyzing individual reports of the unit over the years 1945-1972. The results show a large information scope of the reports prepared, the form and content of which were adapted to the realities of the communist economic system. In particular, they served as a way to verify the degree of implementation of the imposed economic plans. The study leads to the conclusion that in the years examined, reports have evolved, from simple reports recording post-war assets, to financial reports similar in scope to contemporary ones. The example provided in the article indicates the extensive development of accounting techniques and forms of financial reporting, leading to an increase in the information value of prepared financial statements. The article is an introduction to broader research on the development of accounting and financial reporting in the times of the People's Republic of Poland.

Opis:: Głównym celem artykułu jest ukazanie wkładu wrocławskiego ośrodka rachunkowości, skupionego w Uniwersytecie Ekonomicznym we Wrocławiu, w rozwój rachunkowości zarządczej w Polsce w okresie powojennym, od początku jego istnienia. Wnioski przedstawione w artykule zostały sformułowane na podstawie studiów literaturowych prac zwartych opublikowanych przez czołowych twórców z tego ośrodka zajmujących się rachunkowością, w szczególności rachunkowością zarządczą. W artykule zostały przypomniane główne postacie, które przyczyniły się do powstania ośrodka wrocławskiego, a następnie do rozwoju rachunkowości zarządczej w Polsce. Dokonane analizy pokazały, że prace zwarte opublikowane w tym okresie dotyczyły problematyki, która mieściła się w ówczesnych nurtach rachunkowości zarządczej nie tylko w Polsce, ale także w skali światowej. Swoje dzieła z zakresu rachunkowości zarządczej opublikowało wielu pracowników naukowo-dydaktycznych z wrocławskiego ośrodka rachun-kowości, których należy zaliczyć do prekursorów rachunkowości zarządczej w naszym kraju. Przeprowadzone badania wykazały, że rozwój rachunkowości zarządczej w ośrodku wrocławskim następował w miarę, jak zmieniały się uwarunkowania funkcjonowania jednostek gospodarczych.
The main purpose of the paper was to present the scientific input and achievements of the Wroclaw school of accounting studies at Wroclaw University of Economics in the area of management accounting development in Poland in the post-war period, early in the history of the University. Conclusions presented in this paper are formulated on the basis of literature studies conducted by the author, with a special focus on the wealth of information published by the leading representatives of the Wroclaw centre, particularly in the area of management accounting. The paper offers insight into the work of the most prominent figures of the Wroclaw school and their roles in the initiation and evolution of the management accounting science in Poland. Analyses suggest that many of the scientific observations reported by the centre, both in the form of articles and non-serial printed publications, were consistent with the leading academic modes of approach to management accounting, not only in Poland, but also in the international dimension. Important publications in management accounting can be found in the scientific output of many researchers and academics of the Wroclaw school of accounting studies, with the most prominent figures rightly considered as precursors and pioneers of management accounting in Poland. In addition, the study provides evidence to confirm strong associations linking the evolution of management accounting studies at the Wroclaw centre with the current socio-economic transformations and turbulent conditions of economic operation observed in the post-war period.

Dokonał on bowiem pierwszego teoretycznego opisu zasad podwójnej księgowości, wyprzedzając o przeszło 20 lat prace Luci Paciolego, który skodyfikował zasady prowadzenia ksiąg rachunkowych w swoim dziele Summa de arithmetica, geometria, proportioni et proportionalita, wydanym w Wenecji w 1491 roku. W artykule podjęto jednocześnie próbę przedstawienia znaczenia głównego dzieła Cotrugliego Księga o sztuce handlu dla historii rachunkowości w Polsce, a także Ambrogio Lerici, jako pierwszego Włocha, który zajmował się rozpowszechnianiem zasad podwójnego zapisu w Gdańsku.
The article focuses on historical aspects and the presentation of selected persons, who have had a key impact on reaching the principle of double-entry from Italy to Poland. It presents the history of the prevalence of the double-entry rule and thus Benedetto Cotrugli’s contribution to science and education in accounting. Cotrugli’s work was a compendium of merchant knowledge necessary to keep accounting books and the same time a basis for science and education in this field. It was Benedetto Cotrugli who made the first theoretical description of the rules of double accounting, exceeding by over 20 years the work of Luca Pacioli, who codified the principles of bookkeeping in his work Summa de arithmetica, geometria, proportioni et proportionalita, published in Venice in 1491. Due to the fact that the article also attempts to present the meaning of Cotrugli’s book (Book on the Art of Trade), already written in 1458, for the history of accountancy in Poland, it also refers to Ambrogio Lerici, as the first Italian who dealt with dissemination of the double-entry rules in Gdańsk.
