The subject of the study is to discuss the penal measure in the form of a ban on owning animals. The article analyzes controversial issues relating to the subject matter. Indicated, among others: on issues related to the scope of the ban on owning animals, the legal basis for its adjudication, and issues related to its implementation. Certain de lege ferenda demands were also formulated, the aim of which is to strengthen the legal protection of animals.

Municipalities, with a view to meeting their obligation to ensure care for stray animals, mainly limited themselves to catching them and placing in shelters (or, in cases where it was not possible to ensure shelters, in other places destined for keeping animals with no veterinary supervision, though), where new owners were searched for those animals. However, as it was diagnosed in the findings of the audit conducted by NIK in 2016 on prevention of stray animals, those measures resulted in an increased number of stray animals in shelters and other places, and in growing expenditures on providing care for them.

Opis:
The aim of the article is to present the dilemmas that researchers may face, combining more than one research perspective. We are starting from sociological or ethnological research that focus on the stories of animals’ caregivers after the animal experiencing death of a companion. They are anthropomorphic and close to the urban legends. Although correct from the point of view of social research, they do not take into account the biological and psychological context. Examining the experience of mourning animals other than human requires giving a voice to those who will not answer researchers’ questions. However, having a wider perspective and trying to do transdisciplinary science, it becomes a duty to take into account even such knowledge, which will be inconsistent with the current research results. Another problem arises when trying to combine these points of view in such a way as not to alienate the respondents or researchers and at the same time get the most probable version of reality.

The Dutch Partij voor de Dieren (Party for the Animals), the only political party devoted to animals in the world, wants to take wild as well as domestic animals under its wing and, hence, to remove the traditional dividing line between both domains. How can the Animal Party at the same time claim to stand up for the interests of animals as individuals as well as for the particular interests of wild animals? Rather than perceiving wild animals as mere components of wider entities, the Animal Party starts to personalize wild animals at the moment that their wellbeing can be detected and actively improved.

Opis:
The aim of the article is to try to answer the question whether love between people and animals can take the form of not only feelings, but also relationships. In the article, we show that such a relationship is possible, although it is a specific relationship as it connects two beings belonging to different species. From the human side, it resembles the caritas relationship between human beings. Man brings to it selfless care, sacrifice, patience, tenderness and a feeling of love. Animal, on the other hand, brings to it a feeling of love and attachment that creates a „permanent positive feeling attitude”. This permanent positive feeling attitude is the animal equivalent to the human attitude of love. Animals cannot adopt an attitude of love towards their guardian as they lack intellect and will. However, they seem to be able to give him a certain kind of love that is characterized by more permanence than the feeling in the usual sense of the word. We have called this type of love „the permanent positive feeling attitude”. This is a unique kind of love that the animal directs to its closest guardian – the one it has „chosen” to be its master. To sum up, the human-animal relationship has the form of caritas from the human side, and the form of a permanent positive feeling attitude from the animal side. The relationship itself is called by us a „unilaterally personal caritas relationship”.

We meet a lot of wild animals, reptiles and insects on Polish territory, which pose a threat to people and livestock. The attacks of wild animals directly to humans are becoming more common. By this reason, we are exposed to different type of bites, which entails the cost of treatment. In this article we present the scale of threats by such animals as wolves, beavers, otters, snakes, bears. Also it is discussed the diseases: rabies, bird flu and other spread by ticks, wasps, bees, mosquitoes, etc. In this article we indicate that the damage caused by wild animals, reptiles and insects can be covered by personal accident insurance.
