Opis:
The Year of Mercy proclaimed by Pope Francis undoubtedly contributed to a more intense proclamation of the truth about God’s mercy and the development of various forms of the cult of God’s mercy in the Church. In the context of this event, another question arises: how can this jubilee contribute to the revitalization of the Church’s charitable service in Poland? The present study attempts to answer this question. Its main sources are documents of the contemporary Church, especially the teaching of Pope Francis. The author presents mercy as a principle of pastoral care, because mercy is to permeate all the basic functions of the Church (kerygma-marytria, leiturgia, diakonia). Then, based on the data of the Central Statistical Office in Warsaw, he analyzes the current state of poverty in Poland. In the final part of the article, he indicates the criteria of the ministerial Church. In the author’s conviction, the application of these criteria is a condition for the successful implementation of the Church’s charitable service in Poland.
Ogłoszony przez papieża Franciszka Rok Miłosierdzia niewątpliwie przyczynił się do intensywniejszego głoszenia prawdy o miłosierdziu Bożym oraz do rozwoju różnych form kultu miłosierdzia Bożego w Kościele. W kontekście tego wydarzenia rodzi się inne pytanie, w jaki sposób ów jubileusz mógł się przyczynić do ożywienia posługi charytatywnej Kościoła w Polsce? Próbę odpowiedzi na to pytanie stanowi niniejsze opracowanie, a jego źródłem podstawowym są współczesne dokumenty Kościoła, szczególnie nauczanie papieża Franciszka. Autor przedstawia najpierw miłosierdzie jako zasadę duszpasterstwa, gdyż miłosierdzie ma przenikać wszystkie funkcje podstawowe Kościoła (kerygma-marytria, leiturgia, diakonia). Następnie na podstawie danych Głównego Urzędu Statystycznego w Warszawie analizuje aktualny stan ubóstwa w Polsce. W finalnej części artykułu wskazuje kryteria Kościoła służebnego. W przekonaniu autora stosowanie tych kryteriów jest warunkiem pomyślnej realizacji posługi charytatywnej Kościoła w Polsce.

Opis:
Caritas of Elk Diocese celebrates the 25th anniversary of its activity. From the beginning it helps in a material and spiritual way to the poor and to those who are in need. Caritas runs many specialist units. Caritas takes care of the development of Caritas units in schools and in parishes in its diocese. Spiritual-ity biased on faith is what distinguish Caritas from other nongovernmental or-ganizations that bring help to different social groups like: poor, sick, elderly, orphans, homeless, unemployed and socially excluded because of their poverty. The main motive for Caritas’ activities is servant to the poor people in the same way we would do it to the Christ. Reference to the Christ, imitation of Christ’s example, his respect for poor people and to the spirit of solidarity and brother-hood with poor are the main points of reference in spiritual formation of Cari-tas’ employees and volunteers. Caritas of Elk Diocese takes care of ecclesial identity in its works of mer-cy. Caritas takes care not only of material and spiritual forms of help but also about christian character of its activities. This article talks about basic spirituality of Caritas, mainly the need of religious and moral formation of employees and volunteers who works for Caritas in Elk. In reference to the latest states of popes it was shown the evan-gelic sources of Caritas’ spirituality, moral imperative of the responsibility for poor and attributes of the church’s charitable activity such as: unselfishness, respect for the human’s dignity and its rights, gratefulness and solidarity.

The beginning of the new century brought liveliness in the interest of ethics in the world of business as well as among the organizations involved in the charitable activities, education and health. Caritas in Poland undertook many actions serving development of morality and religiosity of its full time workers and volunteers. Caring for spiritual, religious and ethical dimension of work, Caritas desires to deepen the motivation of their activities and enriches their actions with the evangelical meaning. Calls for attention to see the difference between philanthropy and christian mercy, which is the duty of every believer. Underlines the role of faith, hope and christian love in activities undertaken for the poor. We present in this article the rich teaching of John Paul II and Benedict XVI regarding voluntary work. The Popes explain, that in the work of Caritas counts professionalism of course, but even more the love for the poor, elderly, sick and handicapped. That love gives sense of diakonia in the Church. Shows how it is important for Caritas workers and volunteers to respect the ethical Code as well as their religious formation. The ethical Code portrays values important to workers and volunteers of Caritas, influencing their attitude towards others. We underline the necessity of placing the moral requirements for all those involved in the charity work in the Church and on behalf of the Church.

The diocesan Caritas in Poland for several years pay special attention to religious and moral formation of its employees and volunteers. The Catechism, which appeared in the Year of faith, announced by the pope Benedict XVI, is shaping the ethical and religious attitudes of employees. The Catechism presents work in Caritas as a form of realization of the Christian vocation. All believers, especially Caritas workers should get involved in the charity work and the deeds of love of neighbor. The fourth part of the Catechism deals with the religious motives of work in Caritas. In this article, the author describes the style of work in diocesan Caritas, moral duties and the spirit of mercy, which should characterize those, who assist neighbors in need. Appearing moral obligations as well as ethical and moral silhouette of workers, the author tries to encourage them to permanent work over oneself and deepen of personal faith.

Celem artykułu jest prześledzenie, na przykładzie osoby ks. Stanisława Owczarka (1905-1981), roli, jaką „księża patrioci” pełnili w działalności Zrzeszenia Katolików „Caritas”. Ksiądz Owczarek był kapłanem archidiecezji warszawskiej, aktywnym działaczem ugrupowania „księży postępowych”, jednym z nielicznych, którzy angażowali się w obu odsłonach ruchu: w Komisji Księży przy Związku Bojowników o Wolność i Demokrację oraz w Zrzeszeniu Katolików „Caritas”. W swoich wspomnieniach pt. Być zaangażowanym - być księdzem, które wydano drukiem już po jego śmierci, opisał meandry powstania oraz funkcjonowania Caritas pod auspicjami komunistów. Krytyczna analiza autobiografii ks. Owczarka jako źródła do badań nad historią ruchu tzw. księży patriotów może przynieść odpowiedź na pytanie, dlaczego duchowni rzymskokatoliccy, wbrew swoim zwierzchnikom, decydowali się na współpracę z komunistami. Chociaż praca ze wspomnieniami jako źródłem historycznym niesie za sobą wiele niebezpieczeństw, to konfrontacja z innymi źródłami archiwalnymi oraz obecnym stanem wiedzy o historii Zrzeszenia Katolików „Caritas” może pozwolić na nowe spojrzenie na ten temat oraz stanowić zachętę do dalszych badań.
The goal of this article is to ascertain the role of patriot priests in the Association of Catholics Caritas on the basis of priest Stanisław Owczarek (1905–1981). Priest Stanisław served in the Warsaw archdiocese and was an active member of both sides of the patriot priests movement, in the Committee of Priests (pol. KK) attached to Society of Fighters for Freedom and Democracy (pol. ZBoWiD) and in the Association of Catholics Caritas (pol. ZKC). In his memories called Być zaangażowanym – być księdzem, which were printed after his death, he described the meandering process of the founding of Caritas with the communist blessing. A critical analysis of priest Owczarek’s autobiography as a historical source on patriot priests may bring the answers as to why the Roman Catholic clergy decided to work with the communists, despite the disapproval of their superiors. Even though using someone’s memories as a historical source is dangerous, when compared to other archival sources and the current information on Association of Catholics Caritas, it may bring a new outlook on this subject and may encourage a further study

Cel niniejszej pracy jest dwojaki. Po pierwsze ukazuje podstawy prawne funkcjonowania sektora obywatelskiego w Polsce, jak również nakreśla historię powstania i działalność Caritas Diecezji Tarnowskiej, jako organizacji charytatywnej organizującej życie wiernych Diecezji Tarnowskiej od ponad 75 lat.Działalność organizacji jest bezpośrednio związana z funkcjonowaniem największego charytatywnego podmiotu Kościoła katolickiego – Caritas Polska. Rola, jaką podmioty Kościoła katolickiego odgrywają w życiu w społecznym jest znacząca. Nie tylko organizują życie wiernych w parafiach, ale również wypełniają lukę powstałą w wyniku niedomagania państwowej pomocy społecznej.Najważniejszym celem organizacji jest pomoc dzieciom i rodzinie, która u progu XXI wieku przeszła gruntowną przemianę. Podejmowane działania nie byłyby wartościowymi, gdyby nie pomoc i zaangażowanie ludzi dobrej woli, którzy swoją pracą i obecnością wspomagają Caritas Diecezji Tarnowskiej. Nie ma bowiem nic bardziej wartościowszego niż pomoc potrzebującemu człowiekowi.
The aim of this paper is twofold. It outlines the legal grounds of functioning of the civil sector in Poland, as well as organization of the Tarnów Diocese (Caritas Diecezji Tarnowskiej) as a charity which has been organising the life of the belivers. Diocese since its coming into existence and activity for over 75 years ago.The operations of the organization is directly associated with the functioning of the largest charity entity of the Roman Catholic Church – Caritas Polska. The role the entities of the Roman Catholic Church has significant in the social life. They are not only organising the life of church-goers living in parishes, but are also filling the gap incurred as a result of the malfunction of the state-owned welfare.The assistance of children and the family, which on the threshold of the 21st century underwent a thorough transformation is the most important objective of the organisation. The action would not be valuable if not for the help and employing men of goodwill, whose work and presence helpassist in the Caritas Diecezji Tarnowskiej. Finally, the conclusion is there is nothing more valuable than helping those who need help.

This thesis constitutes an attempt at showing the proces of liquidation of „Caritas” in 1950 and agresive propaganda campaign against the organisation in the polish papers. The first chapter contains information about relations between Catholic Church and the polish government after WW II. The time of relative freedom of Catholic Church is descrobed, as well as the period of an open war and repressions. The second chapter focuses primarily on the history of “Caritas”. This chapter outlines the beginnings of the “Caritas” in Poland, its reactivation after WW II and its organizational structures. The third chapter describes forms and methodes of charity work. Total care, emergency care and occasional activities of “Caritas” are described. The fourth chpter treats of the interception and liquidation of the organization by the government. The fifth chapter describes propaganda campaign against Catholic Church in the polish papers in 1950. By becoming acquainted with the Caritas’s history, the readers will better understand the problems faced by the Catholic Church in Poland during time of People’s Republic of Poland, as well as the problems of Caritas itsefl.
Niniejsza praca jest próbą przedstawienia procesu likwidacji organizacji charytatywnej Caritas w 1950 roku oraz prowadzonej przeciwko niej intensywnej kampanii propagandowej na łamach prasy polskiej. Rozdział pierwszy zawiera informacje o stosunkach jakie panowały pomiędzy Kościołem rzymskokatolickim a państwem po drugiej wojnie światowej. Opisuje okres od względnej swobody Kościoła katolickiego, skończywszy natomiast na okresie jawnej walki i represji. Rozdział drugi poświęcony jest dziejom związku Caritas. Traktuje on o jego początkach, reaktywowaniu działalności po II wojnie światowej oraz jego strukturach organizacyjnych. Rozdział trzeci zawiera informacje o formach charytatywnej działalności organizacji Caritas. Opisuje jej działalność opiekuńczą, pomoc doraźną oraz prowadzone przez nią akcje okolicznościowe. Rozdział czwarty opisuje zaś przejęcie i likwidację kościelnej organizacji Caritas przez władze państwowe. Rozdział piąty natomiast propagandową walkę z kościołem na łamach wybranej prasy polskiej z 1950 roku. Dzięki zapoznaniu się z owymi dziejami, możliwe jest głębsze zrozumienie zarówno problemów z jakimi borykał się Kościół polski w okresie Polskiej Rzeczpospolitej Ludowej, jak i trudności jakie stanęły przed organizacją Caritas w tym wyjątkowo niekorzystnym dla niego czasie. Zobaczyć można również w jaki sposób władze komunistyczne prowadziły szkalującą kampanię przeciwko niej.

John Paul II beatified Marianna Biernacka in June 13, 1999 in Warsaw. She belongs to 108 martyrs of the World War II. Marianna Biernacka (1888-1943) she was a simple country woman. She offered her life for her daughter-in-law, by asking the German soldier, to be arrested instead of her daughter-in-law and she saved her life. The Caritas of Ełk Dioceses from the time of her beatification places her as an example for workers and volunteers. In a special way underlines her diligence, humility, patience and bravery, which were manifested during her life. Marianna suffered a lot, but remained joyful and confident in God. In this article the religious silhouette and main features of her spirituality has been shown. The author encourages all volunteers to imitate the Blessed Marianna. Gives answer to a question: in which way she may be an example for contemporary volunteers. Passes over the main aims and methods of developing volunteers of Caritas to the love of neighbor and to the mercy.
