Opis:: A substantial amount of research showed that agency (concerning goal attainment) and communion (concerning relationships maintenance) are two basic dimensions of content in social cognition. Based on the well-supported idea that people typically think about themselves and close others in agentic rather than communal terms, we tested the hypothesis that agentic (but not communal) thinking about unknown others makes them subjectively closer. This hypothesis was confirmed in four experiments differently priming agentic versus communal thinking on others. As predicted, increases in closeness resulting from the agentic thinking about others were constrained to cognitive load conditions where participants were occupied with a parallel task. We conclude that the agentic content of thoughts about others serves as an intuitive, heuristic cue of their psychological closeness.

Opis:: Praktyka komunii duchowej wydaje się dzisiaj nieco zapomniana. Nawet kapłani wykazują w tej dziedzinie zaskakującą niewiedzę. Nauczanie Jana Pawła II czy Benedykta XVI na ten temat spotkało się z niewielkim odzewem. Stąd wydaje się potrzebne przynajmniej zarysowanie najbardziej istotnych elementów tego tematu.
The practice of the Spiritual Communion has existed in the Church at least since the times of Saint Augustine. It is defined as the desire to receive the Eucharist. The value of this practice has been confirmed by the teaching of the Council of Trident, masters of the spiritual life and many popes. It seems that the renewal of this custom can be a response to the problem of the banalisation of the Eucharist and offers a possibility to meet the spiritual needs of the people who cannot take the sacrament of Holy Communion. It can be experienced as a longing for the Lord present in the Eucharist, as well as a sign of solidarity with the sinners.

Opis:: The Eucharist is the source and top of the Christian life. This article analyzes the regulations of canon law related to participation in the Eucharist and receiving holy communion by the family. The author aims to show how such activities affect the unification of the entire family community, spouses, their children, and even grandparents. The first part discusses the Eucharist as the sacrament of unity. The next one discusses the family’s partaking in holy communion. The last one shows the role of the sacrament in the life of mixed marriages and marriages between individuals of different Catholic rites.
Eucharystia jest źródłem i szczytem życia chrześcijańskiego. Niniejszy artykuł zajmuje się analizą przepisów prawa kanonicznego związanych z uczestnictwem w Eucharystii i przyjmowaniem Komunii św. przez rodzinę. Jego cel to ukazanie, w jaki sposób takie działania wpływają na integrowanie się całej wspólnoty rodzinnej, małżonków, ich dzieci, a nawet dziadków. W części pierwszej omówiono Eucharystię, jako sakrament jedności. Następna dotyczy przystępowania rodziny do Komunii św. Ostatnia ukazuje rolę tego sakramentu w życiu małżeństw mieszanych oraz o różnej przynależności obrządkowej.

Opis:: Artykuł prezentuje problematykę chrześcijańskiego braterstwa. W teologicznym rozumieniu braterstwo zostało ukazane jako wspólnota z Bogiem i mające swe źródło już w akcie stworzenia. Człowiek stworzony na obraz i podobieństwo Boga realizuje się zarówno we wspólnocie z Bogiem, jak również we wspólnocie osób. Ostatnia część artykułu ukazuje dojrzałą komunikację interpersonalną jako istotny warunek tworzenia wspólnoty i wzajemnego braterstwa.
The article presents the issue of Christian brotherhood. The theological understanding of brotherhood has been shown as the communion with God and having its source in the act of creation. Man created in the image and likeness of God participates in the communion with God, as well as in the communion of people. In the latter communion an important role is played by psychological processes, including the conditions of interpersonal communication. The last part of the article presents a mature interpersonal communication as a crucial condition of creating communion and mutual brotherhood.

Opis:: Neither individuality nor substance can provide a sufficient account for the uniqueness of human persons. This problem is demonstrated with respect to the various ways one can describe the human person; matter, substantial form, essence, and nature. It is nature that describes beings as they exist. Because human nature is distinctively rational, human beings are most appropriately described as persons. An investigation of personality reveals that each person stands in a unique relation to being by virtue of the acts of intellect and will. Therefore, only personality provides a sufficient account of the uniqueness of individual persons. But because personal uniqueness is an aspect of relation, it cannot be conceived outside that relation. And as the person’s relation to being is tantamount to his ability to enter into communion, uniqueness necessarily implies communion.

Opis:: Over the centuries, the issue of Holy Communion under both species has given rise to serious disputes. At the Vatican II Council, it was recognized as one of the most important elements leading the faithful to Christ. It is due to rich significance that this sacramental sign is endowed with. Holy Communion under both species allows the participants of the liturgy to take part in the Eucharist in a more perfect way. Consumption of the Body and Blood of Christ is a condition for the development of true inner life. Holy Communion reveals our profound union with Christ, who made a covenant in His own blood. Introduction of Holy Communion under both kinds facilitates a fuller participation in the liturgy of the Eucharist as it makes it easier for the faithful to experience the presence of Christ in the sacramental sign. Holy Communion taken under one form allows us to receive the whole fruit of the Eucharist, but receiving both the Body and Blood of Christ enriches and presents in the more perfect light the sign of the Eucharistic feast.

Opis:: The aim of this study was to verify the importance of reinforcing a sex stereotype onparticipants’ identification with this role. The results were analysed as a function of both biological sex (63 women and 65 men) and psychological gender (58 sex-typed individuals and 70 androgynous individuals). In the study the Psychological Gender Inventory was used, as well as a scale measuring Agency and Communion, a scale measuring Unmitigated Agency and Unmitigated Communion, lists of sentences containing stereotypes of the male sex and the female sex, and sentences that were neutral with regard to sex. The results showed that feminine women ascribed more female characteristics to themselves regardless of whether the role that was associated with their biological sex was reinforced or not. Men showing characteristics of both sexes ascribed a similar level of unmitigated communion and agency to themselves irrespective of whether the sex stereotype was reinforced or not

Opis:: As we face difficulties in defining marriage in accordance with the intention of the Creator, the author of marriage, St Paul’s letter to the Ephesians 5:21-23 brings the reader closer to an understanding of marriage as a communion of life and love which realizes its divine vocation in the sign of the spousal love of Christ toward His Church. An analysis of Paul's message to the Ephesians allows the author of this article to attempt an understanding of the theological aspects of marriage, pointing to the theological source of the rights and obligations in marriage and presenting marriage as a communion of spouses according to God’s will, mutually bestowing love, and being subject to each other.

Opis:: Feelings-as-information theory states that feelings inform us about the nature of our current situation and we rely on them to make our judgments. Beyond that, feelings tune our cognitive processes to meet situational requirements. Positive feelings result in relying on pre-existing knowledge structures and default strategies, whereas negative feelings hamper relying on routines and results in adapting systematic processing. Based on this premise, it was hypothesized that positive mood, elicited either by the perceived target or by the independent source, would lead to relying on accessible agentic or communal content in perceiving strangers, as well as familiar others, whereas negative mood would weaken these tendencies. Specifically, the three studies showed initial evidence that (a) positive mood leads to focusing on agencyrelated qualities in perception of unknown men to a greater extent than negative mood, (b) positive mood leads to focusing on communion-related qualities in perception of unknown women more than negative mood, and(c) positive mood leads to relying on communal content in perception of familiar others comparing to negative mood.
