Opis:
The Internet has become an extremely powerful tool which has pervaded every corner of our lives, including the foreign language classroom. However, we should not forget that in certain situations this tool cannot be easily implemented in the FL classroom, because of either pedagogical or financial reasons. This paper presents CALL Workbench, a course management system which is flexible enough to be adapted to two stand-alone computer-based EFL learning settings: with or without access to the Internet but provided with electronic communication tools. A WebQuest has been designed and implemented through CALL Workbench in order to illustrate some of the advantages and disadvantages that both settings can present as compared to those found in a traditional Web-based environment.

Opis:
The principal objective of the article is to present the complementary education method with an e‑ learning component, using the Practical Russian course taught during the first year of foreign language studies as an example. As part of the course, conventional classes were supplemented with computer‑assisted learning. The study describes the most important elements that were taken into account when designing the course, such as the recipient’s profile, the selected distance learning model, the role of communication in the teaching process, and the structure of individual modules. The article also presents the motivation for the choice of the asynchronous mode for classes and describes the types of resources and activities used during the course. In order to introduce new vocabulary, phrases, and grammar material, a teacher can use the Page module. It enables the placement of text, pictures, audio recordings, references to external websites, and displayed elements directly on the platform. As part of particular thematic blocks, text materials in a foreign language were accompanied by audio materials, which made it easier for students to practice pronunciation as students repeated sequences of words or sentences after the teacher. With a view to practicing language skills, the Test module was used to create various types of questions, multiple choice tests, matching tests, and short answer tests. The above function enables automatic assessment of answers and the instant transfer of test results to both students and the teacher.

Opis:
This case study investigated how student interaction patterns (Moore, 1993) with different instructional media in a graduate level online environmental toxicology course impacted student outcomes, as measured by grades and student engagement levels. Student engagement levels were measured as Posts, Access, Time, and Hits (PATHs) by using the PATHs Framework (Adebowale, 2017) approach to quantify learning analytics obtained from a Learning Management System. Data was obtained from 13 online students during the fall 2018 semester. Findings indicate that Narrated PowerPoint and Shaky Hand video led to higher student outcomes compared to the other forms of instructional media. Implications for course design, quality assurance mechanisms, assessments, improvement of student outcomes, and criteria for selecting the type of instructional media to use in online courses are also discussed.

Opis:
The issue of regulation of a learning management system (LMS) at the state level of Ukraine is considered in the article. Types and interpretations of electronic educational resources that can be used in distance education are pointed out. The Moodle environment, as an example of one of successful learning management systems, is considered. In particular, the article contains a list of roles that can be shared by users of a learning management system. The general structure of an e-learning course, which can be used by educational institutions, is also proposed.

Opis:
The article designs a method of eLearning courses which are customized with regard to the future professional lives of students. The method is based on the disaggregation of the branch of study to single semantic learning objects. Semantic learning objects are interconnected by prerequisites and they contain metadata about the importance of learning objects for mastering specific professions. At the beginning of his/her study each student takes a test to determine which profession could be potentially suitable for him/her and the individual's graduate profile is developed. According to the individual's graduate profile the Learning Management System (LMS) automatically generates a proposal for the optimal study path. For each student the semantic learning objects which are the most important regarding to his/her future profession are selected.

Opis:
Using a progressive information technologies for development of web-based courses and their administration brings a lot of practical and theoretical problems. We know web course problem is only small solution concerning construction of a large entire web-based e-learning environment. One of a practical problem is how to construct web-based electronic courses that have to meet international AICC standards. Implementation of such strict statements resulted in a lot of small or larger difficulties if we had used an elementary HTML editor. Using a special web course oriented editors can absolutely solve this problem. The second problem is construction of the web-based e-learning application that can administrate such web courses and takes into consideration AICC regulations. Development of such web applications is founded on the latest web technologies. This article introduces one approach to the modeling of the two most important components (web-based course, web-based application) of the web-based e-learning environment, convenient for Military Academy in Brno and Czech army. The article outlines the structure of web subject, e-learning environment and their implementation. The LMS's structure and its functionality, based on a snaps algebra, belong to important results of the article.
