Opis:
The present article aims at showing the way Greek and Roman historians saw epidemics. and what role these epidemics served.. The causes, treatment and prevention of epidemics are also shown in various historical and literary source. The first paragraph presents epidemics as shown in Greek literature. To start with, epidemic in Athens in 429 BC described by Thucydides is shown. The same paragraph deals also with epidemics in ancient Rome under the guid¬ance of Titus Livius and his History of Rome and descriptions of epidemics in Natural history by Plinius the Older. The biggest epidemics in Rome from the 2nd and 3rd century AD are presented on the basis of Life of Constantine and Church History by Eusebius of Caesarea. The only saved description of Galen’s Antonine Plague in Clavdi Galeni Opera Omnia, editionem cvravit C. G. Kuhn, tom X, Hildesheim 1965 is shown. Next, the description of epidemic witnessed by Cyprian of Carthage and included in his treatise On Mortality. Also based on the description by Eusebius of Caesarea, the epidemic from 312 AD is men¬tioned. Epidemic in Amid appears thanks to the materials by Ammianus Mar¬cellinus in The Roman History. The 6th century is dominated by the epidemic called ‘Plague of Justinian’ which was described by Procopius of Caesarea in History of the Wars, John of Ephesus in Ecclesiastical History , Evagrius Scho¬lasticus also in Ecclesiastical History and Agathias in The Histories. The scope of this epidemic is also observed in the description by Gregory of Tours in The History of the Franks. Each of the epidemics is presented together with the pre¬ceding and accompanying events. To explain why problems of this kind are used in this article, M.Grmk’s word can be used. To present all the important problems connected with this subject: The history of contagiou sdiseaseswould be the size of an epic. Legions of the deadwould have to be described together with inexpressible pain, great variety of micro-organisms, their biological changeability, the role of popula¬tion density etc.

The author analyzes the problem of issuing official orders by the employer, including the seconding of an employee to another job as part of an employment relationship, to an employee who is a doctor, in the context of the Act on Preventing and Combating Infections and Infectious Diseases in Humans, as well as the principle of equality before the law. The statutory limitations on issuing official orders were examined. A broader problem was also raised – violations of basic constitutional principles and civil rights.

Opis:
Całość przystosowana została do wykorzystania podczas lekcji języka polskiego w szkole ponadpodstawowej.
The article is about the difficulties related to the appearance in the language of new expressions, metaphors, words relating to the SARS-CoV-2 coronavirus epidemic, as well as the public discourse that contributed to the spread of the phenomenon known today as the epidemic of fear. By dividing the linguistic novelty into the epidemic of fear and epidemic of laughter, I present examples of statements representative for both groups, e.g. neologisms, comments appearing on memes, statements of the then Minister of Health. I analyze the causes of their formation, effects and linguistic determinants. Finally, I try to answer the question the function of fear-inducing and recalling statements to comedy. The whole has been adapted to be used during Polish language lessons in a secondary school.

Opis:
The main goal of the work is researching and discovering the methodology of “Balanced scorecard” and trying to propose the possible new methods of use and adaptation of this method to the pandemic reality. It is a concept of monitoring the strategy in a long-term perspective. It uses a coherent system of financial and non-financial indicators for the ongoing assessment of the organization. It is strictly based on the control and management of the company's key factors. However, this does not mean that it is a ready-made solution that does not require any work. For it to work, key factors need to be defined, configured and monitored. Then it is able to identify problems in the organization and areas requiring more attention. This tool has great potential to save many companies from bankruptcy.

The paper focuses special attention on a project named CARE. The developers of the project is NosoiFighters team, which consists of students of the Cybernetics Faculty in Military University of Technology. The system is a very creative software solution that takes advantage of pioneering sociological theories, graph/networks theory and the last but not least most advanced technologies. It has a very practical purpose, in particular nowadays: countering infectious diseases, for instance HIV/AIDS, malaria, SARS, etc. The paper demonstrates how the system can help us to nail epidemics. CARE has enormous practical potential in regions such as Africa, where there are not enough medicines to treat all who are at risk.

The article discusses the meaning of the term ‘epidemic’ in the literary sources of ancient Greece and Rome. It presents an attempt at tracing the semantics of the words no/soj, loimo/j and e)pidemi/a in Greek literature and illustrates various usage of e)pidemi/a before Hippocrates. It also shows what terms were used by Roman scribes to define pestilence or points out that Homer used the word in Illiad in the meaning of: “this one who liked passionately the frightening civil war”. Sophocles used ‘epidemios’ in King Oedipus referring to dissemination and propagation of the king’s fame. The authors before Hippocrates applied this term almost to any phenomenon (people, rain, war) except for disease. Hippocrates was the first one to adapt it to medical terminology. (P. Martin, E. Martin, 2,500-year …).

Opis:
Over the centuries, mankind has been confronted with many threats of various natures, both local and global. One of them is the epidemic of an infectious disease, which modern civilization is currently undertaking many efforts to face. In the past, epidemics such as plagues, Spanish flu or A/ H1N1 flu put the safety of the societies of that time to a very hard test. Similarly, the current Sars-Cov-2 epidemic is undermining the security of all countries in the world. Undoubtedly, functioning at this time is difficult. In order to prevent and control infections, it is essential to follow the recommendations and guidelines issued by the relevant authorities. Any physical contact with third parties should also be restricted. In this difficult period for all, fears and concerns about life and health of one’s own and one’s loved ones may appear. This is also a time when uncertainties and doubts about your future arise. Finally, the duration of the epidemic may favour the emergence of other threats, such as include widespread disinformation about the coronavirus. It is easy to see that the current situation significantly reduces the level of feeling of safety. The aim of this article is to examine how the current coronavirus epidemic affects the safety of Polish citizens. The article consists of a theoretical part, which raises the issue of safety as a need, presents information on the new coronavirus, presents measures to protect against infection and points to disinformation as one of the important threats spread during the ongoing epidemic. The second part has a research character, because it presents the results of the research on safety in the context of the coronavirus epidemic, which were carried out among the citizens of Poland.
