Opis:
This paper considers perception and realization of EU-offered instruments and frameworks from the perspective of intra-EU mobile PhD candidates. In the context of current discussions about European Union research policies and their development, this paper shows who, how and under what circumstances doctoral candidates are participating and evaluating programs designed to encourage mobility and ‘excellence’. The basis for this research is 38 interviews with mobile PhDs candidates. It is shown that general knowledge about these programs is limited but positive, as the programs are known for their prestige. Universities and colleagues are the main distributors of information. Th e majority of our sample are not taking part in such programs and have no concrete plans to do so. This may be connected to their status as early-career scientists and their uncertain future.

Opis:
Udział Instytutu Techniki Górniczej KOMAG w Europejskiej Przestrzeni Badawczej rozpoczął się jeszcze przed przystąpieniem Polski do Unii Europejskiej. W artykule przedstawiono realizację projektów badawczych współfinansowanych przez Komisję Europejską, oraz drogę jaką przeszedł KOMAG stając się jedną z najlepszych jednostek badawczych w Europie.
KOMAG Institute of Mining Technology has joined the European Research Area before Poland entered the European Union. Realization of research projects co-financed by the European Commission and the way KOMAG came to become one of the best research centres in Europe are presented.

Opis:
The European Research Area and Framework Programme 7 represents a conducive means for positive differentiation beyond the borders of the EU. The article aims to identify the ERA’s differentiated integration and segmentation swatches by concentrating on the closely-tied neighbouring countries of Morocco and Tunisia. The thematic distinction of the Mediterranean represents positive differentiation that surpasses EU territory. It occurs based on the thematic priorities co-decided by key EU institutions and articulated by the European Commission in annual work programmes. Segmentation in research across the Mediterranean area is a centrally-steered process incentivised by the European Commission through open calls for project applications. Process tracing allows for even more nuanced thematic steering patterns to be explored. A content analysis of open calls with a specific focus on the annual work programmes demonstrates the important role played by the fact that Morocco and Tunisia correspond to the country category of “(African) Mediterranean Partner Countries”. This geographical position offers preferential treatment to participate in several project applications explicitly inviting geographical focus on the Mediterranean area and/or partnerships with a Mediterranean membership.

Opis:
The mission of the PRACE Research Infrastructure is to enable high impactscientific discovery and engineering research and development across all disciplines to enhance European competitiveness for the benefit of society. The paper presents the current state of the computational infrastructure, which is unique on the European level and procedures helping with the seamless access to the European HPC infrastructure: supercomputers, applications,storage. Several Polish computational grants have been called in the paper in order to present examples of the Polish domestic scientific engagement.

This booklet intends to highlight the issues of better involvement of European Union New Member States, with Poland as an example, into EU reality of aerospace sector progress. Authors try to justify the necessity of paradigm shift in the domain of European Research Area concept realization. The contents are organized in four parts dedicated consecutively to: European Communities, European aeronautics stakeholders, EREA Association conception and development and finally the Polish Institute of Aviation activity in European Research Area.
To opracowanie rozświetla zagadnienia lepszego włączenia nowych członków Unii Euro - pejskiej, na przykładzie Polski, do bieżących procesów i postępu w europejskim sektorze lotniczym. Autorzy starali się uzasadnić konieczność zmian metodycznych w realizacji koncepcji Europejskiej Przestrzeni Badawczej (ERA). Celem jest ukazanie europejskim partnerom naszej orientacji i dążeń oraz pomoc polskim inżynierom w przełamaniu zwątpień i podjęciu zdeterminowanej aktywności dla odzyskania wkładu polskiego podatnika do funduszy Departamentu Badań i Innowacji Komisji Europejskiej. Zawartość tej publikacji została zorganizowana w czterech częściach poświęconych kolejno: wspólnotom europejskim, interesariuszom lotnictwa europejskiego, Stowarzyszeniu Lotniczych Instytutów Europejskich (EREA) oraz wyzwaniom Instytutu Lotnictwa wobec ERA.

Purpose of research: Presentation of the current state of work in the field of the European Research Area, implementation of national R&D strategies taking particular account of the priority regarding the optimal circulation of scientific knowledge. Activities in relation to 'communication of knowledge', i.e. its dissemination, are to contribute to strengthening links within the 'knowledge triangle' connecting research, innovation, education, as well as broadening links between sectors and disciplines. Methodology: The analysis covered the most important EU documents, including EU legal acts, reports, national action plans in the area of scientific information, including open science and open access. The method of analysis and criticism of literature was used, referring to, among others to literature in the field of social communication and media sciences, including information science. Value and expected results: Research has indicated actions taken at the European Union level towards a more effective flow of scientific knowledge in the area of the European Research Area (its communication, among others, through publications, knowledge repositories, data bases, websites and targeted social media) aimed at to support open access to publications, research data management and open science.
Cel badań: Zarysowanie aktualnego stanu prac w zakresie Europejskiej Przestrzeni Badawczej, wdrażania krajowych strategii B+I ze szczególnym uwzględnieniem priorytetu dotyczącego optymalizacji przepływu informacji i wiedzy naukowej. Działania w odniesieniu do "komunikowania wiedzy", czyli jej rozpowszechniania i upowszechniania, mają się przyczynić do wzmocnienia powiązań w ramach „trójkąta wiedzy”, łączącego badania naukowe, innowacje, edukację, a także poszerzenia powiązań między sektorami i dyscyplinami. Metodologia: Analizą objęto najważniejsze dokumenty UE, w tym akty prawa UE, sprawozdania, krajowe plany działań w odniesieniu do obszaru informacji naukowej, w tym otwartej nauki i otwartego dostępu. Wykorzystano metodę analizy i krytyki piśmiennictwa, odwołując się m.in. do literatury z zakresu nauk o komunikacji społecznej i mediach, w tym nauki o informacji. Wartość i oczekiwane wyniki: Badania wskażą na działania podejmowane na poziomie Unii Europejskiej w kierunku skuteczniejszego przepływu wiedzy naukowej w obszarze Europejskiej Przestrzeni Badawczej (jej komunikowania m.in. poprzez publikacje, repozytoria wiedzy, bazy danych, strony internetowe czy ukierunkowane media społecznościowe), mające na celu wspieranie otwartego dostępu do publikacji, zarządzania danymi badawczymi czy otwartej nauki.
