Opis:: Technical and Construction Drawings for Civil Engineering Constructions undergo standardization according to the regulations and requirements set up by the CEN and CENELEC organizations. The national Standards must comply with the EU Standards. The goal of this paper is to show the differences between the old and the new Standards because the future engineer must be aware of them as the changes continuously take place in the environment of technical/construction drawings.
Dydaktyka przedmiotów takich jak: Rysunek techniczny, Grafika inżynierska, Projektowanie wspomagane komputerem, które należą do grupy przedmiotów podstawowych w programach pierwszych dwóch lat studiów inżynierskich, wymaga zaznajomienia studentów z normami dotyczącymi zasad przestawiania obiektów na rysunkach architektoniczno-budowlanych oraz konstrukcyjno budowlanych. Z uwagi na fakt, iż w kolejnych latach Polski Komitet Normalizacyjny wprowadza w użycie nowe normy, koniecznością staje się aktualizowanie bazy norm wykorzystywanych w procesie dydaktycznym wyższych uczelni technicznych. Autorka niniejszego referatu przeprowadziła analizę aktualnych norm (Appendix 1) pod kątem ich wykorzystania w dydaktyce wspomnianych przedmiotów oraz ich aktualności i przydatności do wykonywania wspomnianych rysunków oraz zawarła spostrzeżenia na temat wprowadzanych zmian. Baza danych zawarta w Appendix 1 jest aktualna na dzień 01.07.2011 r.

Opis:: Background. Evaluation of the biocidal activity of chemical disinfectants and antiseptics according to European Standards (EN) is based on determination of the reduction of the number of viable test microorganisms under defined conditions. Objective. The objective of this study was to investigate whether reducing the neutralization time required following declared product contact times for the tested microorganisms yields method validations. Material and methods. This study was conducted on 14 products containing active substances from different chemical groups: alcohols, aldehydes, biguanides, quaternary ammonium compounds, phenols, amines derivatives, oxidizing agents. These products were tested according to phase 1 tests: EN 1040:2005 and EN 1275:2005 and then according to phase 2, step 1 tests: Draft EN 13727:2005 and EN 13624:2003. Biocidal activity was evaluated using the following test organisms: S. aureus ATCC 6538, P. aeruginosa ATCC 15442, E. coli NCTC 10538, E. coli ATCC 10536, E. hirae ATCC 10541, C. albicans ATCC 10231 and A. brasiliensis ATCC 16404. Results. Validation C results for all products and tested microorganism strains were at least half of the density of the suspension for validation (Nvo) after only 10 s of neutralization. Furthermore, results from test procedures performed in parallel were also positive except 5 products toward A. brasiliensis. Conclusions. The results of our study confirm that the contact time described in the European Standards phase 1: EN 1040 and EN 1275, as well as phase 2, step 1: Draft EN 13727 and EN 13624 can be precisely determined in spite of reducing the neutralization time from 5 minutes to even 10 seconds.
Wprowadzenie. Badanie aktywności antyseptyków wg norm PN-EN polega na określeniu stopnia redukcji liczby komórek drobnoustrojów testowych, uzyskanego w deklarowanym czasie kontaktu. Cel badań. Celem pracy było zbadanie, czy skrócenie czasu neutralizacji preparatu wynoszącego 5 minut po określonym czasie jego kontaktu z drobnoustrojami testowymi, zapewni zwalidowanie metody. Materiał i metody. Wybrano 14 preparatów zawierających substancje czynne należące do różnych grup chemicznych: alkohole, aldehydy, biguanidyny, czwartorzędowe związki amoniowe, fenole, pochodne amin, związki utleniające. Badania przeprowadzono wg norm fazy 1: EN 1040:2005 i EN 1275:2005, a następnie wg norm fazy 2 etapu 1: Draft EN 13727:2005 and EN 13624:2003. Do badań użyto zalecane standardowe szczepy bakterii i grzybów: S. aureus ATCC 6538, P. aeruginosa ATCC 15442, E. coli NCTC 10538, E. coli ATCC 10536, E. hirae ATCC 10541, C. albicans ATCC 10231 and A. brasiliensis ATCC 16404. Wyniki. Wyniki walidacji C dla wszystkich produktów i badanych szczepów mikroorganizmów spełniały wymagania norm, czyli były równe co najmniej połowie gęstości zawiesiny do walidacji (Nvo) zaledwie po 10 s neutralizacji. Ponadto, w równolegle przeprowadzonych testach aktywności przeciwdrobnoustrojowej uzyskano pozytywne wyniki, z wyjątkiem 5 produktów wobec A. brasiliensis. Wnioski. Wyniki badań potwierdzają, że czas kontaktu określany wg norm fazy 1 EN 1040:2005 i EN 1275:2005, jak również fazy 2 etapu 1: Draft EN 13727:2005 i EN 13624:2003, może być precyzyjnie określony mimo skrócenia czasu neutralizacji z 5 minut nawet do 10 sekund.

Opis:: The European Standard on sleeping bag requirements (EN 13537:2002) describes a procedure to determine environmental temperature limits for safe usage of sleeping bags regarding their thermal insulation. However, there are several possible sources of error related to this procedure. The main aim of this work was to determine the influence of the various measuring parameters on the acuity of the respective parameters in order to judge the requirements. The results indicated that air velocity, mattress insulation and time between unpacking the bag and measurement had a significant impact on the result, with a difference of up to 5–15% in thermal insulation between minimum and maximum allowable parameter levels. On the other hand, manikin weight, thickness of the artificial ground and presence of a face mask were found to have a negligible influence. The article also discusses more general aspects of the standard including the calculation methods used.

W wyniku realizacji prac badawczych opracowany został projekt normy europejskiej, który zostanie złożony w Komitecie Technicznym CEN/TC 161 do ustanowienia.
This article presents basic information on protective footwear used by workers exposed to chemicals. It also presents general information concerning a project realized within the 5th Framework Programme of the EU, the aim of which is to work out a standard for footwear protecting against chemicals and micro-organisms. This research has resulted in a draft European standard, which will be submitted to the CEN/TC 161 Technical Committee for acceptance.

The article presents and discusses provisions of the Seveso II Directive and Polish legal regulations - "Prawo ochrony środowiska" (Environmental protection law) and the ordinance of the Minister of Economy concerning major accident prevention policy (MAPP), including safety management systems (SMS) and internal emergency plans (IEP).On the basis of the abovementioned provisions concerning MAPP, SMS and IEP, the article presents task and activities aimed at forming proper attitudes skills, awareness and behaviours of employees at all levels, necessary for an effective realization of the objectives of MAPP SMS and IEP.

Opis:: Recently the so called “green”, ecological or sustainable architecture is becoming more and more popular. Energy efficiency of buildings is one of the aspects of this kind of architecture. In our country, the main reason for the growing popularity of the energy efficient buildings is the new buildings’ legislation. The new buildings’ regulations set up much higher standards for energy performance of buildings than the previous ones. Poland, like all other EU member states, was forced to introduce new energy standards for buildings, by the implementation of the Directive 2010/31/EU. The prospective standards for all new buildings in Poland are on the level of today’s low energy buildings. The purpose of introducing such high standards is to reduce the amount of energy used by the building industry in Europe. According to EEA report one of the results of climate change in our region would be longer and more severe heat periods, and some adaptation action should be taken. Probably, according to the new legislation, too little emphasis was put on the overheating risk of the buildings. At present, in Poland, other reasons for constructing energy efficient buildings are of minor meaning. Especially the financial encouragements for small investors are not effective enough. The situation looks better in the area of public buildings. Institutional investors have more possibilities for obtaining financial support, which is encouraging enough. Also, the obligation to inform the public about the results of the energy performance certificate is not respected fully. This obligation could help to increase the environmental conscience of investors. So there is still much room for improvement.

Process of European Standars (EN) implementation to Polish Standars (PN) archive results in improvement of actions connected with road investments performance. In the presence of constantly emerging new technical and organizing challenges some of regulations have to be modified. Several aspects of the standardization and legislation in the road building process are presented in this article.
