Opis:: The aim of the article was to present the issue of financial exclusion and define sensitive areas of this phenomenon. The factors that may be relevant for measuring the degree of financial exclusion were analysed. An attempt was also made to determine the difficulties in access to financial services in the context of practices applied by both the supply and demand sides. In addition, barriers to the use of services were analysed as were financial products in terms of practices used by supply and demand. The typology of financial exclusion presented in the article is an attempt to define the type and scope of the phenomenon. Bank exclusion, credit exclusion and exclusion from the savings system are financial exclusion indicators. Each of those types of exclusion affects the economic and social level. Financial exclusion, which is one of the symptoms of the imbalance between demand and supply, is understood here as total or partial access to financial services offered by the market. The article also attempts to analyse the causes of exclusion with the division into supply and demand factors. The typology of financial exclusion proposed in the article may be a contributing factor to the reverse phenomenon, which is financial inclusion.

Opis:: Social exclusion is a multidimensional phenomenon extending beyond poverty, unemployment, access to various goods and services, but also covering the scope of breakdown of social ties and a sense of isolation as well as dependence on others. This phenomenon affects various social groups, but seniors experience the effects of social exclusion in a special way. This article aims to show how the transport-related social exclusion of seniors influences their psychosocial functioning. The problem of transport-related exclusion in Poland currently affects 13.8 million people living in municipalities where there is no organized public transport. The article tries to answer the question about the extent to which the surveyed seniors experience transportation disadvantage and how the limited access to public transport affects their psychosocial functioning. The obtained results quite clearly indicate that the elderly experience many effects of transport-related exclusion, which has an impact on the quality of their life. The communication exclusion limits their access to health care, which results in decreasing their health. Seniors experience exclusion due to difficult access to public transport, goods and services that affect their life quality. Research shows that seniors feel dependent on others. Restricting contacts with family and friends causes them to feel lonely.

Opis:: The article addresses the problems related to the transport needs of seniors, including the potential role of ICT solutions in meeting these needs. It discusses the use of ICT by seniors, as well as their needs and expectations regarding the transport system. Attempt to assign the examples of ICT solutions, that might be helpful in more effective fulfilment of the seniors’ expectations concerning the desired features of transport system was undertaken. The influence of the implementation of ICT in transport system on the transport needs of seniors was discussed with the indication of the areas that will require taking additional measures and conducting further research.

Opis:: Economic education is becoming increasingly essential for modern societies to function. It consists of three aspects: knowledge, skills and attitudes, and if such aspects remain at a low level, the people it concerns are susceptible to financial exclusion. Due to dynamic changes occurring in financial markets, knowledge quickly becomes outdated and needs to be frequently updated. People with disabilities fall into this group of people at risk of social exclusion, usually displaying lower participation in the educational system (although this has been changing) and facing greater difficulties in the labour market. A hypothesis has been posed that economic education may contribute to the social inclusion of people with disabilities, and the determined goal was to demonstrate the existence of the need for financial education targeted at people with disabilities to make them less susceptible to the risk of social and financial exclusion. This goal was achieved through critical analysis of the literature on the subject, and by way of deduction. The author’s research demonstrated that economic education is a tool that contributes to reducing the risk of social and financial exclusion, and therefore economic education should be primarily targeted at the groups most susceptible to the risk of exclusion, including, among others, people with disabilities. The paper demonstrates that Poland also lacks measures that would contribute to the level of economic knowledge of that social group.

Opis:: When helping another person we usually focus on what kind of help we offer and who we help. We often don’t pay attention to the person who offers help. The goal of this summary is to talk about that person – to show, who the volunteer is, in a specific context of street work with homeless people.[1] This article shows not only who streetworkers are, but it also shows their work ethics and their attitude towards the people they help. The research that has been done omits detailed stat analysis in order to focus full attention to parameters and indicators of this particular social study. Because of this process we manage to obtain a vivid and true image of a streetworker‘s agenda.[2] [2] Lack of a more profound analysis is the result of having too small a sample for the research, and so analysis with the use of Student’s t-distribution test, chi-squared test, or testing the significance would not have much sense, and results of such analyses could not be extrapolated to a larger population. The study aimed at presenting a small but significant fragment of reality of supporting the homeless and it did not aspire to be a broad description of any population. Obecnie możemy mówić o społeczeństwie informacyjnym, gdzie główną wartością jest informacja i usługi z nią związane. Obserwuje się przenoszenie wielu tradycyjnych usług do sieci Internet i rozwijanie już tam istniejących. Część społeczeństwa została pozbawiona z różnych przyczyn możliwości pełnego uczestniczenia w wielu aspektach życia. Wyznacznikiem poziomu rozwoju cywilizacji jest dostęp obywateli do nowoczesnych technologii i stopień ich użycia. Dla części społeczeństwa zdobycie informacji jest szybkie, proste i niezależne od elementów takich jak czas czy miejsce. Druga część społeczeństwa, w związku z brakiem takich możliwości, podlega wykluczeniu cyfrowemu. Wykluczenie cyfrowe pociąga za sobą inny rodzaj wykluczenia dotyczącego braku możliwości skorzystania z usług bankowych opartych na sieci Internet, czyli podlegają wykluczeniu finansowemu. W pracy przeprowadzono analizę porównawczą Norwegii i Polski, odwołując się również do średniej dla Unii Europejskiej, pod kątem wykluczenia cyfrowo-finansowego, możliwości dostępu do informacji dostarczanej za pośrednictwem sieci Internet i czynników kształtujących i różnicujących te kraje, z uwzględnieniem aspektu bankowości internetowej, jako głównej przyczyny wykluczenia finansowego. W pracy zwrócono również uwagę na aspekt związany z bezpieczeństwem i stratami finansowymi, co może się przekładać na stopień wykluczenia finansowego.
Dynamic development of technology, increasing popularity of Internet, better availability of devices allowing easy access to Internet such as laptops, tablets or smartphones, as well as easy access to broad spectrum of information, has caused significant diversification and transformation of the society. Nowadays we can talk about information society where the main value is information and the services associated with it. A trend is being observed of moving traditional services into the Internet and developing services being there already. Part of the society has been deprived of, for various reasons, the possibility to actively participate in many aspects of the public life. An indication of civilization’s development level is the access of its citizens to modern technologies and their usage. For one part of the society, getting information is quick, simple and independent from factors like time and location. The other part of the society, due to the lack of such capabilities, is digitally excluded. This digital divide causes yet another type of exclusion – inability to access Internet banking services – financial exclusion. In this paper comparative analysis of Poland and Norway has been conducted (also referring to the EU average) regarding the digital and financial exclusion, accessibility of information available in the Internet, factors differentiating those two countries, especially the usage of Internet banking, treated as the main cause for financial exclusion. Security and financial losses aspects have also been discussed in this paper – as one of the potential drivers of the financial exclusion.

Opis:: Przedmiotem pracy magisterskiej jest wykluczenie społeczne. W pracy omówiono zagadnienie wykluczenia społecznego ze społeczeństwa informacyjnego. Na podstawie analizy i krytyki piśmiennictwa omówiono historię, definicje i charakterystykę zagadnienia. Szczególną uwagę poświęcono zagadnieniu grup zagrożonych wieloaspektowym wykluczeniem oraz metodom jego zwalczania i przeciwdziałania. Badaniu poddano pracowników administracji Politechniki Krakowskiej. W badaniach posłużono się metodą socjologiczną, w której wykorzystano technikę badawczą jaką była ankieta. Celem badania była weryfikacja zagrożenia wykluczeniem badanych. Analiza uzyskanych materiałów wykazała małe ryzyko zagrożenia wykluczeniem społecznym badanej grupy
The subject of the thesis is the exclusion from the information society. The paper discusses the problem of social exclusion from the information society. Based on the analysis and critique of the literature, it discusses the history, definitions and characteristics of the problem. Particular attention was given to groups at risk of multifaceted exclusion and methods of combating and prevention. The study involved administration staff of Cracow University of Technology. The studies used a sociological method, a technique that was survey research. The aim of the study was to verify the exclusion risk of the respondents. Analysis of the material showed little potential risk of social exclusion of the selected group.
