The chapter scrutinises various frames produced by Polish queer activism, as developed since the end of the 1990s in a new democratic and capitalist reality. I argue that within the frames, there is a visible shift towards more solidarity and social justice-oriented values. The paper explores the changes and transformations within the main frames - it presents how the master interpretative schemes based on liberal values have recently been converted into the frames built upon an importance of solidarity and social relations: a family frame "We are a family" and a solidarity frame "Solidarity is our weapon". The shift could be provoked on the one hand by public debates about the negative or ambiguous results of the economic transition, the changeable political climate, or, on the other hand, by the internal differentiation and development of the LGBTQ movement.

Opis:
The common practice of frame selection is a simplified way without calculations of the strength and strain conditions. It is particularly popular in the design of small devices. In the case of granulation in a disc granulator, it is necessary to experimentally determine the correct parameters of the process. Therefore, the disc granulator must operate with a wide range of settings of the inclination of the granulator disc axis in relation to the ground. The use of the granulator for laboratory purposes requires also taking into account the loads resulting from its mobility. In response to this the FEM analysis was carried out as to the effect of the working disc position angle on stresses occurring in the laboratory disc granulators LDG300 and DG750 frame. Additionally, analyses of the stresses of the granulator’s frames during their lifting and displacing were done. The analyses allowed the researchers to identify the main load that affects the frame design most markedly.
Powszechną praktyką konstrukcji ram urządzeń technologicznych jest ich uproszczony dobór bez obliczania warunków wytrzymałości i sztywności. Jest ona szczególnie popularna przy projektowaniu małych urządzeń. W przypadku granulacji w granulatorze talerzowym konieczne jest eksperymentalne określenie prawidłowych parametrów procesu. Dlatego granulator talerzowy musi pracować w szerokim zakresie kątów nachylenia osi talerza granulatora względem poziomu. Wykorzystanie granulatora do celów laboratoryjnych wymaga również uwzględnienia obciążeń wynikających z jego mobilności. W odpowiedzi na to przeprowadzono analizę MES dotyczącą wpływu kąta pochylenia osi granulatora podczas jego pracy na naprężenia występujące w ramie laboratoryjnych granulatorów talerzowych LDG300 oraz DG750. Dodatkowo przeprowadzono analizy naprężeń ramy granulatora podczas jej podnoszenia i przemieszczania. Analizy pozwalają zidentyfikować najważniejsze obciążenia mające wpływ na prawidłowe obliczenia ram w celu uniknięcia ich przewymiarowania.

Abstract: Frame Analysis (1974) is probably the most important work written by Erving Goffman, however it was only recently translated into Polish. The author of this article (a sociologist and the translator of Goffman's book) presents an overview of major problems involved in the process of this translation, especially those pertaining to main concepts introduced by Goffman. Among these are frame and framing, containment, keying, and flooding out. This paper also offers an attempt to adapt Goffman's conceptual framework to a systematic analysis of the very process of translation (which could be treated, as it is argued) as a keying of the original text.

Opis:
The topic of European integration is one of the most important for Ukrainian political discourse and reflects the main controversy in politics and society. This paper is based on a case study: how are European integration and widely the idea of Europe conceptualized in Ukrainian political discourses and how are they presented and framed in the Ukrainian press in the period 2005–2010? What are the dominant frames in the representation of European integration in the Ukrainian press? This study demonstrates that conceptualization of European integration and, connected with it, the foreign policy choice of Ukraine is proceeding in the Ukrainian media discourse with usage of the following dominant frames: geopolitical confrontation, civilizational choice and an instrument of inner changes.

Opis:
In international comparisons, Finland has often appeared as a frontrunner in promoting media literacy, especially from the perspective of national-level policies and structures. In this study, our aim is to broaden knowledge about the meaning of media education in the Finnish ministerial-level policy framework by examining in which administrative sectors policy documents concerning media education have been published and how the concepts of media education and media literacy have been framed. The results suggest that media education and media literacy are addressed widely across the different administrative sectors in Finland, but mostly by the Ministry of Education and Culture. There is also variance in the ways in which the concepts are presented in the policies. In the article, eight identified frames of media literacy are discussed, including protectionism, cultural participation, future working competences, inclusion, broad media education, democracy, national security, and cosmopolitanism. The article highlights the importance of nuanced understanding of the meanings and limits of media education and research-based policy development.

Cel: opis mechanizmów ramowania, identyfikacja konkurujących ram i pomiar wyników rozgrywki narracyjno-interpretacyjnej (framing contest) na przykładzie ramowania ataku na biuro poselskie Prawa i Sprawiedliwości 19 października 2010 roku. Metody badań: interpretatywna strategia analizy ramowania polegająca na indukcyjnej, jakościowej rekonstrukcji ram z wykorzystaniem homeostatycznego modelu narracji. Przeanalizowano lokalizację ram w strukturze analizowanych tekstów i związane z nią zabiegi metakomunikacyjne (przeramowujące). Obliczono relatywną ekspozycję ram, a także jednorodność (homogeniczność) i przechylenie ramowania z wykorzystaniem wskaźnika koncentracji Herfindahla-Hirschmanna i na tej podstawie stworzono mapę wyników rozgrywki interpretacyjnej. Badaniu z zastosowaniem oprogramowania do analizy danych jakościowych MaxQDA12 poddano artykuły informacyjne czterech wiodących dzienników opublikowane w dzień po relacjonowanym incydencie. Wyniki i wnioski: analizowana rozgrywka interpretacyjna była silnie spolaryzowana. W badanym przypadku zidentyfikowano tylko dwie dominujące i jedną marginalną ramę. W artykułach informacyjnych występowała znacząca jednostronność i tendencyjność ramowania przejawiająca się wysokimi wartościami wskaźników homogeniczności i przechylenia ramowania. Tylko jeden z czterech dzienników eksponował konkurujące ramy w zbalansowany sposób. Dzienniki stosowały dwie wzorcowe strategie forsowania wybranej ramy: otwartą stronniczość („Nasz Dziennik”) i subtelną metakomunikacyjność („Gazeta Wyborcza”). Oryginalność i wartość poznawcza: zaproponowana konceptualizacja ramowania przywraca pojęciu narracyjne i metakomunikacyjne pierwiastki. Przyjęta strategia indukcyjnej rekonstrukcji ram unika powszechnego w analizie ramowej problemu niejasnego związku między ramami a materiałem empirycznym. Badanie realizuje postulat zwiększenia szczegółowości analizy ramowej poprzez redukcję jednostki kodowania do zdania. Tekst proponuje narzędzia precyzyjnego pomiaru ekspozycji ram i wizualnego mapowania rozgrywki interpretacyjnej i tendencyjności ramowania.
Scientific objective: description of framing mechanisms, identification of competing frames and measurement of the results of a framing contest on the example of framing the attack on the parliamentary office of the Law and Justice party on October 19, 2010. Research methods: interpretative framing analysis strategy based on inductive, qualitative reconstruction of frames using a homeostatic narrative model. The location of the frames in the structure of the analyzed texts and the related metacommunication (reframing) procedures were examined. The relative exposure of the frames as well as the homogeneity and tilt of the framing were calculated using the Herfindahl-Hirschman Index, and on this basis the map of the results of the framing contest was created. Qualitative data analysis software, MaxQDA12, was tested in news articles from four leading newspapers published the day after the reported incident. Results and conclusions: the analyzed framing contest was highly polarized. In the case studied, only two dominant frames and one marginal frame were identified. There was a significant one-sidedness and bias of framing in news articles manifested by high values of the homogeneity indices and framing tilt. Only one of the four newspapers presented the competing frames in a balanced way. The newspapers used two exemplary strategies for pushing through the chosen framing: open bias (Nasz Dziennik) and subtle metacommunication (Gazeta Wyborcza). Originality and cognitive value: the proposed conceptualization of framing restores the concept of narrative and metacommunication elements. The adopted strategy of inductive reconstruction of frames avoids the problem of an unclear relationship between frames and empirical material, common in frame analysis. The study implements the postulate of increasing the detail of the framework analysis by reducing the coding unit to a sentence. The text proposes tools for precise measurement of frame exposure and visual mapping of framing contest and framing bias.

The text describes selected publicistic programmes produced in 2013 by the regional branch of Polish National Television in Łódź. The author makes use of such analytical tools as modern rhetoric & stylistics, the study of non-verbal communication (including colours and their meaning), and mechanisms for persuasion and manipulation in the media. Based on the analysis carried out, the author assesses the quality of programmes and their role in the TV schedule, taking into account the context of their public mission.

The article presents the results of research conducted in the master degree thesis, prepared at the Institute of Theory of Literature, Theatre and Audiovisual Arts, University of Lodz, under the supervision of prof. Assoc. Jarosław Płuciennik. First I present a theoretical and methodological frame of analysis of the text (especially taken form cognitive psychology of concepts: category, categorization, prototype and similarity), the second I present interpretation of terminology in relation to the concept genre and based on it doing a cognitive analysis such categories as: epic poem, heroic poetry or monk heroic poetry, based on Trans-Atlantyk by Witold Gombrowicz. The summary is an attempt to reference the conclusions derived from the analysis to the debate on the nature of the two aestethic categories – ‘style’ and ‘stylization’. These concepts are not – I suppose – immanent properties of the text, but mental constructs, first existing on mind of cognizing person. The cognitive methodology allows this aspect capture and describe.
