During two years the biomass dynamics of species dominant in the phytoplankton of a-mezotrophic, holomictic lake and of a eutrophic, polimictic lake were investigated. Species of groups Cyanophyta and Bacillariophyceae showed marked seasonal maxima, whereas the biomass of species of the group Dinophyceae was inversely correlated to the biomass of blue-green algae. All dominant species struggled against water circulation and were unevenly distributed in the vertical cross-section of the lake.

Investigations were carried out during the 1970-1974 period on the influence of mineral fertilization on phytoplankton production in four lakes differing trophically and morphometrically. Greatest changes in the chemism of water were noted in two dystrophic lakes. Change in the trophism of these lakes led to a growth of phytoplankton production during the first two years of fertilization. Fertilizing of the lakes during following years did not influence an increase in the level of their eutrophication.

Opis:
The research of the qualitative and quantitative phytoplankton structure of the rush and open water zones of two basins of the Budzynskie Lake differing in the presence of submerged macrophytes was conducted. A greater variety of phytoplankton species was present in the overgrow basin, as a result of enrichment of the zone of open water above submerged macrophytes by periphyton taxa. In the same basin the reduction of phytoplankton taxa numbers and biomass appeared, that can be connected with pressure of zooplankton grazing and with repressing influence of macrophytes.
