After concluding the design of our didactic unit “My First International Congress” in LAMS format and putting it into practice with our students, we intended to improve its didactic possibilities through the execution of an analysis by experts on language teaching. The collection of data on the assessment and perception of the experts of our unit, the analysis of these data and the results confirmed that tools such as LAMS can be quite useful in the teaching of Foreign Languages. However, it also showed that LAMS should provide teachers with devices with which students could work synchronic speaking interaction.

Opis:
Currently, development of language and cultural competencies is of fundamental importance. Cultural education (including multiculturalism) enriches and models one’s own culture, prepares for dialogue, creates identity based on the strong sense of national values and roots while respecting and understanding others. The goal of language learning is clear: education should lead to language competence, make cultural intertwining easier and implement the basis for tolerance and openness. Cultural (multicultural) competence is a result of gaining experience (also linguistic experience) which is an ongoing process involving analysis and discovering rules rather than being a skill that one can learn.

Communication with foreign-language recipients from the perspective of managing a public museum
Komunikacja z odbiorcami obcojęzycznymi z perspektywy zarządzania muzeum publicznym
Autorzy:
Czyż, Agata
Opis:
The subject of the article is the communication between public museum and foreign recipients. The growing number of foreign tourists in Poland challenges museums to continuously improve their offer in foreign languages, with new media and new technologies, among others, being of considerable importance. The aim of the thesis is to show how museums communicate with foreign visitors. A look from the perspective of cultural tourism and analysis of various examples allowed for a holistic view of the problem and to show it in various contexts. As part of the research procedure, the following qualitative studies were conducted: individual in-depth interviews, literature analysis and netnography.
Praca podejmuje zagadnienie komunikacji muzeum publicznego z odbiorcami obcojęzycznymi.

Opis:
The aim of this paper is to present the multitude of foreign words and phrases in reportages published in the Anoda i katoda [Anode and Cathode] collection by Melchior Wańkowicz and to answer the following questions: Does the author mark foreign words in his text? Have they been adapted to the Polish language? Where did this abundance of borrowings come from? When the lexemes or phrases were kept in their original form, it was established whether the writer marked them in the text, and if so, how it was achieved. In the group of words highlighted in the text by the writer, the majority are written in italics. The writer did not use any special distinction towards many words in a foreign form. In those cases when words of foreign origin were adapted to the Polish language system, the methods of this adaptation were indicated. The two largest collections of foreign vocabulary in the examined material originate from Latin and French. Some foreign lexemes were adapted to Polish, becoming the basis for new words in the Polish language by declination and replacement of vowels and/or consonants with their Polish equivalents. The diversity of the borrowings applied is the effect of the writer’s background in the multi-cultural Borderlands, his thorough education and his numerous journeys and long time spent abroad.

Opis:
Modern didactics of foreign languages should be based not only on the training of communication competence, which allows to achieve the most important goal of learning – communication in a foreign language, but also on the training of translation competence, which gives wider possibilities for the use of language, e.g. in language mediation. Mediated communication is often more difficult, requiring trust, intercultural competence, understanding of otherness from all participants as well as the responsibility of intermediaries for the final outcome of communication. Anyone can be a “translator” in everyday situations.

Opis:
The author discusses the important issue of acquiring phraseological competence and presents selected aspects of phraseodidactics in foreign languages. The aim of the article is to signal and present significant issues that appear in applied phraseology, especially in the field of phraseodidactics. In the first section, the tems “language competence” and “phraseological competence” are discussed. The term “phraseological competence” has not been widespread in the publications on the subject of phraseology or glottodidactics. Nevertheless, phraseological competence represents a higher level of lexical and collocational competence, which is indispensable for learning phraseology, particularly in a foreign language. The second section presents research on teaching phraseology of French as a foreign language. The research shows the character of scale in phraseologization from the perspective of non-native users of phraseology and its meaning in glottodidactics. In the third section the author carries out a synthesis of foreign phraseology acquisition and distinguishes between its most important stages.
