- Opis:
- Although the idea of dormant or sleeping object explicitly appears in Graham Harman’s object-oriented ontology (OOO) writings, so far it has not been subjected to more careful analysis. This paper aims at filling this gap in secondary literature on OOO. It argues not only that is there no single unitary concept of dormancy in Harmanian relevant writings but also that there are ultimately three senses of dormant object that can be named: known non-knower, unknown knower and unknown non-knower. Moreover, the analysis of Harmanian dormancy, done in the paper after briefly reminding the relevant basics of OOO, provokes to wonder on the actual variety of different types of entities implied by Harman. Revealing them, in addition to the different types of dormant object, not only has systematising and clarifying value for OOO but also poses some problems for it, which are suggested at the paper’s end.
