Opis:
This article enriches the existing literature on the importance and role of the social sciences and humanities (SSH) in renewable energy sources research by providing a novel approach to instigating the future research agenda in this field. Employing a series of in-depth interviews, deliberative focus group workshops and a systematic horizon scanning process, which utilised the expert knowledge of 85 researchers from the field with diverse disciplinary backgrounds and expertise, the paper develops a set of 100 priority questions for future research within SSH scholarship on renewable energy sources. These questions were aggregated into four main directions: (i) deep transformations and connections to the broader economic system (i.e. radical ways of (re)arranging socio-technical, political and economic relations), (ii) cultural and geographical diversity (i.e. contextual cultural, historical, political and socio-economic factors influencing citizen support for energy transitions), (iii) complexifying energy governance (i.e. understanding energy systems from a systems dynamics perspective) and (iv) shifting from instrumental acceptance to value-based objectives (i.e. public support for energy transitions as a normative notion linked to trust-building and citizen engagement). While this agenda is not intended to be- and cannot be-exhaustive or exclusive, we argue that it advances the understanding of SSH research on renewable energy sources and may have important value in the prioritisation of SSH themes needed to enrich dialogues between policymakers, funding institutions and researchers. SSH scholarship should not be treated as instrumental to other research on renewable energy but as intrinsic and of the same hierarchical importance.

Opis:
The article explores the approach of the European Union to financing of scientific research. It begins by outlining strategic documents of the EU concerning research policy and developments in financial support addressed to this kind of activities. More attention is given to the two consecutive cycles of European funding – Horizon 2020, which is currently coming to an end, and Horizon Europe, the programming phase of which is now being finalized. The review of the above issues serves as a basis for discussion how Poland uses the possibilities of financial support for scientific research and development activities and how the efficiency of Polish scientific institutions in applying for the EU funds could be improved.

Opis:
Aims: To derive an expression for change in entropy of spinning black holes on the basis of the model for the energy of spinning black holes E BHs= KBHs R's ( Mahto et al. 2011a) & the model for entropy change δS bh = [wzór]δE ( Mahto et al. 2011b) and then calculate their values for different test spinning black holes. Study Design: Data for the mass of black holes have collected from the research paper entitled :Super massive Black Holes in Galactic Nuclei: Past Present & Future Research(2005), Space Science Reviews by L. Ferrarese & H. Ford and Black holes in Astrophysics(2005), New Journal Physics by R. Narayan. The data for black hole constant for spinning black holes (K BHs = 1.214x1044) is taken from the paper entitled: Study of Schwarzschild radius with reference to the spinning black holes. Bulletin of Pure and Applied Sciences (2011a). Place and Duration of Study: Department of Physics, Marwari College Bhagalpur and University Department of Physics, T.M.B.U. Bhagalpur, between December 2013 and March 2014. Methodology: A theoretical based work using Laptop to calculate the calculation for change in entropy of different test spinning black holes at Marwari College Bhagalpur and the residential research chamber of the first author. Results: The calculation shows that the change in entropy of spinning black holes of the rest masses for stellar – mass black holes (M ~ 5 – 20 Mʘ) in X-ray binaries is 2.483x10 63 to 39.731x10 63 J/K and for the super massive Black holes (M ~ 10 6 – 109.5 Mʘ) in active galactic nuclei is 9.932x10 73 to 28.432x10 80 J/K. The nature of the graph for XRBs is the same to the Hawking entropy with the event horizon and straight line for AGN which confirms the validity of equations EBHs=KBHs R’s and δS bh = [wzór]δE .Conclusion: The change in energy and entropy of black holes are mainly dependent on the mass and independent of their event horizons.

In the present paper, we have derived an expression for change in entropy of non-spinning black holes on the basis of formula (EBH = KBHRS) as proposed by Kanak Kumari et al. (2010) and the formula δSbh= 2π/(k.c^2 ) δE (Mahto et al., 2011) and calculated their values for different test non-spinning black holes.

Opis:
The CHIMERA project is indeed funded by the European Commission under the Horizon Europe program.
Objective: The research objective is to indicate current priorities of the European Commission in funding modern technologies that enhance situational awareness and preparedness for CBRN events in urban areas. Methods: We analysed strategic documents of the European Union informing CBRN safety and security Horizon 2020 program priorities and the proposal which won the call HORIZON-CL3-2022-DRS-01-08. This process allowed us to indicate patterns reflecting European Union’s priorities in funding development of modern technologies to enhance both the awareness and the preparedness. Results: Investigation of 7 fundamental documents gave strategic background for applying modern technologies that enhance situational awareness and preparedness for CBRN events in urban areas. Relevant directions were reflected in the call for proposals named Disaster-Resilient Society 2022. Only one proposal was selected for funding and it now forms the basis for CHIMERA project (the full project title is: Comprehensive Hazard Identification, and Monitoring systEm for uRban Areas). The project’s mission is to provide a technological improvement in the CBRN domain complying with European legislation and boosting the capabilities of end-users with novel detection, identification, and monitoring functionalities at relatively high TRL. Discussion: As CHIMERA project describes directly many of issues addressed in the call for proposals, the current directions reflect strategic assumptions for ensuring safety and security in Europe. The project also uniquely concerns CBRN response capability gaps identified by International Forum to Advance First Responder Innovation. Success story of CHIMERA proposal may serve as a reference in developing new technologies in a project formula in the future.

Opis:
Culture as a dynamic system of meaningful relations can naturally accommodate a hermeneutic analysis. In this essay, the notion of Gadamer’s hermeneutics as involving interpretable meaning throughout experiential reality permits a natural concordance with an understanding of culture as meaningful. The Gadamerian idea that prejudices inform the horizons that make our experiences intelligible is applied to the view that culture is both a self-enclosed structure that is given by one’s horizon and one that continuously points past this horizon in genuine dialogue. Nevertheless, in seeing culture as a coherent system that transcends itself, we are consequently faced with a dilemma regarding the evolution of one’s cultural horizons: whether past horizons can survive the creation of novel ones through dialogue. However, this may be resolved through Gadamer’s understanding of the functions of sameness and difference within horizonal evolution, and how these functions feature in the distinction between a shared ontological ground and the horizons through which the ground is interpreted. Ultimately, we showcase how it is noncontradictory to suppose that culture is both self- and other-referential.

Opis:
The aim of the study is to evaluate and compare the performance of mutual funds. The proposed approach evaluates the effectiveness of the fund's investment strategy in terms of the investment horizon. As a tool wavelet analysis that has been applied to the decomposition of the excess returns of funds for the six scales was used. The Sharpe ratios calculated on the basis of the so-transformed series formed the basis for the arrangement of funds. The results indicate that the variance of rate of return in the analyzed funds decline as the wavelet scale increases.

Opis:
Luvisols and Albeluvisols prevail within the Carpathian Foothills in Poland and the Precarpathians in the Ukraine. Genesis of the soils is related to translocation of colloids (i.e. clay minerals and iron oxides) from upper part of the soil profile to the lower horizons (so-called lessivage). Higher bulk density and lower total porosity of the illuvial horizon due to lessivage restrict the infiltration of water and penetration of roots. It leads to periodic stagnation of water above illuvial horizon and occurrence of redox processes in the upper soil horizons. Main aim of the present study is to compare morphology, micromorphology, chemical and physical properties of Albeluvisols formed from loess-like deposits within the eastern part of the Carpathian Mts. in Poland and the Ukraine.
