Wykłady dotyczące nauczania matematyki przedstawione na Międzynarodowych Kongresach Matematyków w okresie 1897-1912
Lectures about teaching of mathematics presented at the International Congresses of Mathematicians in the period 1897-1912
Autorzy:
Kędroń, Dorota
Opis:
The teaching of mathematics has always been an integral part of school education. However, at the turn of century the methods and teaching programs have changed. This work aim to introduce the image teaching of mathematics, that it was presented at the International Congresses of Mathematicians, beginning with the first ICM and ending with the last ICM before the First World War.The following chapters are devoted to the next congresses. Every chapter begins with general information about the meeting, and then in the next subsections are discussed separately lectures about mathematics education and issues associated with it.At the end of the paper are two appendices. First of them presents exemplary schedule of mathematics required in the examination of the University of Cambridge. The second appendix includes basic information about spherical trigonometry, that is mentioned in this work, and which is not already included in the teaching programs of mathematics.

Opis:
The observations presented in this paper fall within the confines of a plan covering a broader scope of research on the key notions underlying the constitution and polarisation of the Polish economic discourse on popular web portals. The idealised cognitive models (ICMs) of “work”, actualised in the discourse, are subject to a linguistic reconstruction and the methodological principle consists in an analysis of semantic profi les of the key symbol and recurrent collocations as well as the standard phrases invoking the identified central notion. The divergent views on the operation of the economy presented by two distinctive groups of discourse participants: advocates and critics of capitalism provide an important interpretative framework determining the diverse profiling of the category “work” in the online debate. The controversy of the notion manifests itself also in the fact that the two contradictory cognitive models built around it are composed not only of the axioms accepted by a given group but also of the ones it ascribes to their opponents.

Opis:
The aim of the present article is to show that such concepts from cognitive linguistics as aspects of construal, semantic frames and idealised cognitive models can be applied for the analysis of rock song lyrics. The article describes the results of a survey in which respondents interpreted lyrics of a rock song and arrived at its different interpretations, often different from the one intended by the song writer. The author attempts to account for those different interpretations, relying on concepts from cognitive linguistics and cognitive poetics.

Opis:
Commercialization processes of research and development project results are costly and risky. That is why it is indispensable to analyze all the advantages and disadvantages very thoroughly as well as to identify potential risks and barriers which may emerge during commercialization processes of innovative solutions. The Authors presented in the article the results of their research work results oriented onto an identification potential barriers based on analyses of case studies carried out according to the Integrated Commercialization Model (ICM), developed by them. They highlighted the role of marketing communication in commercialization processes, giving some examples of mistakes commonly made and suggesting a new paradigm of marketing activities with use of the state-of-the-art efficient carriers of marketing information e.g. Internet, Intranet, Social Media etc. Marketing communication is presented as a complex tool enabling to strengthen collaborative relationships between science and industry within the framework of creating and implementing innovative solutions. The article also contains some recommendations and guidelines concerning thresholds and barriers impeding a successful transition of commercialization processes of R&D results and of technology transfer.

Opis:
Background: This Intensive Care Medicine Rapid Practice Guideline (ICM-RPG) provides an evidence-based recommendation to address the question: in adult patients in intensive care units (ICUs), should we use small-volume or conventional blood collection tubes? Methods: We included 23 panelists in 8 countries and assessed and managed financial and intellectual conflicts of interest. Methodological support was provided by the Guidelines in Intensive Care, Development, and Evaluation (GUIDE) group. We conducted a systematic review, including evidence from observational and randomized studies. Using the Grading of Recommendations, Assessment, Development, and Evaluation (GRADE) approach, we evaluated the certainty of evidence and developed recommendations using the Evidence-to-Decision framework. Results: We identified 8 studies (1 cluster and 2 patient-level randomized trials; 5 observational studies) comparing small-volume to conventional tubes. We had high certainty evidence that small-volume tubes reduce daily and cumulative blood sampling volume; and moderate certainty evidence that they reduce the risk of transfusion and mean number of red blood cell units transfused, but these estimates were limited by imprecision. We had high certainty that small-volume tubes have a similar rate of specimens with insufficient quantity. The panel considered that the desirable effects of small-volume tubes outweigh the undesirable effects, are less wasteful of resources, and are feasible, as demonstrated by successful implementation across multiple countries, although there are upfront implementation costs to validate smallvolume tubes on laboratory instrumentation. Conclusion: This ICM-RPG panel made a strong recommendation for the use of small-volume sample collection tubes in adult ICUs based on overall moderate certainty evidence.

Opis:
Indirect speech acts are frequently structured by more than a single metonymy. The metonymies are related not only to the illocutionary force of the utterances, but also function within the individual lexemes being their parts. An indirect speech act can thus involve not only multiple, but also multi-levelled operation of conceptual metonymy.
