Opis:: Modern economy, also called network economy, significantly affects the functioning of companies that recognize the value creation through their participation in networks. In particular, high-tech companies, including the ICT sector, form the engine of economic development in the market by providing innovative information and communication technologies whose primary ingredient is knowledge. The purpose of this article is to identify the key factors affecting the implementation of IT services with the support of ICT tools. The examples of such IT services may include programming, SEO, management, web hosting. The analysis was conducted from the perspective of an IT company (a company realizing an order). Those factors were determined based on the methodology of network thinking that allows to look at the problem and taking into account different criteria and to determine the strength and nature of the relationship of individual network elements.

Opis:: This article focuses on the sources of Israeli economic success. There were two main sources of Israeli success. Firstly, a large inflow of funds from abroad, mainly from the Jewish diaspora, enabled consecutive governments to make huge investment outlays. Secondly, effective integration of immigrants into social life provided the economy with highly qualified specialists. Traditionally, an important role in the economy of Israel is played by the financial sector and tourism. The defense industry, electronics industry and gem-cutting (in which Israel is the world undisputed leader) occupy a prominent position in the Israeli economy. An important factor that propels the Israeli economy is innovation.

Opis:: This paper presents the influence of the COVID19 pandemic on gross domestic product (GDP) per capita for the 27 countries of the European Union. A panel model with fixed effects was applied to a dataset from 2010 to 2020. The analysis covered 13 independent variables, including nine related to the telecommunications market, and assessed their impact on GDP per capita. A variable related to the number of COVID-19 deaths per one thousand inhabitants was then added to the model. The results showed that COVID-19 is a significant factor and is negatively correlated with GDP per capita. The analysis described in the article has also shown that the importance of the ICT sector increased during the pandemic, i.e. the household broadband Internet variable became statistically significant.

Opis:: In last 3 decades information and communication technologies (ICT) became a global phenomenon. It is apparent that ICT is included in all spheres of life. The same is true in the Czech Republic. Available data for the period 2008-2015 show significant progress in ICT usage in households and businesses. The companies operating in the ICT sector became an important source of economic growth. ICT sector has interdisciplinary focus, the capability to respond quickly to customer needs and the capability to innovate. ICT subjects are important within regional and local economies. The regional metropolis Ostrava becomes the center of ICT in the Moravian-Silesian Region. In this paper we focus on the company TIETO with headquarters in Ostrava, which provides ICT services in the global markets.
W ostatnich trzech dekadach technologie informacyjne i komunikacyjne (ICT) stały się zjawiskiem globalnym. Jest oczywiste, że ICT zawierają się w każdej dziedzinie życia, również w Republice Czeskiej. Dane dostępne dla okresu 2008-2015 wskazują znaczący postęp w wykorzystaniu ICT przez gospodarstwa domowe oraz biznes. Firmy działające w sektorze ICT stały się ważnym źródłem wzrostu ekonomicznego. Sektor ICT cechuje interdyscyplinarność, zdolność do szybkiej odpowiedzi na potrzeby konsumentów oraz zdolność do innowacji. ICT jest także istotny dla gospodarek regionalnych i lokalnych. Regionalna metropolia Ostrawy przekształca się w centrum ICT w kraju morawsko-śląskim. Artykuł analizuje przypadek firmy TIETO z siedzibą w Ostrawie, która zapewnia usługi ICT na rynkach globalnych.

Opis:: Postęp technologiczny, szczególnie w sektorze technologii informacyjno-telekomunikacyjnej (ITC) zapoczątkował szereg zmian w dotychczasowym funkcjonowaniu przedsiębiorstw. Związane jest to z przemianami w sferze usług, a przede wszystkim z rozwojem nowych form świadczenia i dystrybucji tradycyjnych usług z zastosowaniem technik komputerowych i Internetu, czyli tzw. usług elektronicznych (e-usług). Rozwój tej formy świadczenia usług nastąpił niemal w każdej działalności usługowej, która nie wymaga bezpośredniego kontaktu usługodawcy i usługobiorcy, a szczególnie zauważalny jest w handlu (handel elektroniczny), administracji (elektroniczna administracja) czy edukacji (zdalna edukacja). Proces ten, uwarunkowany dostępnością Internetu, został zapoczątkowany w Polsce w latach 90. XX w. Początkowo dostęp do sieci globalnej umożliwiał głównie komunikację między przedsiębiorstwami, które położone były w różnych miejscach świata. Dziś dostęp do Internetu jest coraz bardziej powszechny i powoduje istotne zmiany w funkcjonowaniu przedsiębiorstw.Głównym celem artykułu jest analiza stopnia wykorzystania nowych technologii przez wielkopolskie przedsiębiorstwa na przykładzie usług elektronicznych. Dla realizacji tego celu, sformułowano następujące pytania poznawcze: (1) które z rodzajów usług elektronicznych i w jakim zakresie były najczęściej wykorzystywane przez przedsiębiorstwa; (2) od jak dawna i z jaką częstotliwością przedsiębiorstwa korzystają z usług elektronicznych; (3) jakie były motywy i bariery korzystania z tych usług; (4) czy i w jakim zakresie przedsiębiorstwa planują zwiększenie stopnia wykorzystania usług elektronicznych. Analiza ta została oparta na wynikach badań ankietowych przeprowadzonych na próbie przedsiębiorstw w wybranych powiatach województwa wielkopolskiego.
Technological progress, especially in the information and communication technology sector (ITC) has initiated a series of changes in the existing organization of service activities. An important aspect of the organizational change in the services sector is the development of new forms of providing and distribution of traditional service with the use of computer technology and the Internet – so-called electronic services (e-services). The development of this form of the services provision has occurred in almost every service activity that does not require direct contact between the provider and the recipient, and is particularly notable trade (e-commerce), public administration (e-government) and education (e-learning). This process, determined by access to the Internet network, was launched in Poland in the 1990s Initially, access to the global network enabled mainly communication between firms located in different places of the world. Today, Internet access has become more widespread and causes significant changes in many aspects of operation of firms.The main aim of this article is to analyze the scale of use new technology based on the use of electronic services by businesses in the region of Wielkopolska. The analysis was based on the results of a survey conducted on a sample of businesses, which concerned the types of electronic services, the frequency and motives of their use, as well as barriers to such use.

Opis:: This paper aims to investigate the patterns of gender inequalities in the Information and Communication (ICT) sector in European Union (EU) countries. Based on secondary data from Eurostat, a cluster analysis has been conducted to identify clusters of EU countries with various patterns of dependencies among the gender pay gap, female entrepreneurship, and employment in the ICT sector. Three clusters of EU countries have been identiﬁed with different patterns of the situation as regards women in this sector. In countries belonging to the ﬁrst cluster, a higher level of gender pay gap coexists with the lowest share of female participation in the ICT sector and features the choice of entrepreneurship rather than employment. In countries of the second cluster, the lowest gender pay gap is observed together with an increase in female employment in the ICT sector as compared to the countries in the ﬁrst cluster, and a higher share of employed women than entrepreneurs. In the countries of the third cluster, the moderate gender pay gap found therein is associated with the highest share of female ICT entrepreneurs, and is higher than the share of employed professionals. The discovery of the various patterns of the co-existence of the gender pay gap and women’s participation in the ICT sector reveal that the pay gap is rather the factor preventing women from entering this sector, as there is limited potential to push them towards entrepreneurship instead of paid employment. The authors’ results contribute to the theory of entrepreneurship and gender studies by investigating gender gaps in entrepreneurship and wages in the ICT sector as a primary sector.

Tytuł:: Employee loyalty in the ICT sector as a challenge for building Industry 4.0

Opis:: Reflecting on employee loyalty in regards to person from ICT appears to be valid at least for two reasons: firstly, as a professional group, they were (and in part of this group, will remain) the creators of Industry 4.0; secondly, the processes which are currently specific to employees of the ICT sector may, after several years, apply to larger professional groups. The text presents employee loyalty specific of the ICT sector which can be described as a mercantile relationship focused on other professionals from the industry, and on one's own professional development. Conclusions on the nature of this loyalty are based on the author's own study. The text also presents the consequences of this specifically profiled loyalty of employees of the ICT sector at the organisational level, and with regard to the level of functioning of broader communities.

In such companies the space for implemented measures is not only determined by technical infrastructure, but also by the resources of knowledge and skills to commercialize information. Artykuł przybliża metodę badawczą, jaką jest analiza sieci wartości i jej praktyczne możliwości zastosowania przy realizacji wybranego projektu w firmie sektora ICT. W firmach tych przestrzeń realizowanych działań nie jest wyłącznie wyznaczona przez infrastrukturę techniczną, lecz zasoby wiedzy oraz umiejętności komercjalizacji informacji. Dominacja tych zasobów sprawia, że coraz częściej poszukuje się innych metod szczególnie dedukcyjnych do analizy współczesnych przedsiębiorstw.

Opis:: Od wielu lat zmiany zachodzące w społeczeństwie i gospodarce mają wyraźnie charakter globalny. Technologie informacyjno-telekomunikacyjne (ICT) przyczyniają się do tych zmian i znajdują odzwierciedlenie w oferowanych produktach oraz usługach. Przedsiębiorstwa sektora ICT szybko dostosowują się do nowych warunków i wymagań społeczeństwa informacyjnego, w którym przetwarzanie informacji z wykorzystaniem technologii informacyjno-telekomunikacyjnej stanowi istotną wartość ekonomiczną, społeczną i kulturową. Mimo prowadzonych badań i systematyzowania informacji na temat sektora ICT wciąż istnieje luka badawcza dotycząca jego znaczenia na arenie międzynarodowej. Powstaje zatem pytanie, jaki wpływ na zrównoważony rozwój ma występowanie klastrów sektora ICT w krajach Unii Europejskiej? Było to przesłanką podjęcia badań umożliwiających określenie stopnia znaczenia sektora w krajach UE. Punktem wyjścia rozważań było zdefiniowanie technologii informacyjno-komunikacyjnej i klastrów. Do oceny sektora wykorzystano: wskaźnik lokalizacji (LQ), wskaźnik specjalizacji (SI) oraz indeks klastra (CI). W wyniku przeprowadzonych badań wskazano czynniki decydujące o wzroście znaczenia sektora w krajach UE.
For many years, the changes taking place in society and the economy have clearly been global. Information and communication technologies (ICT) contribute to these changes and are reflected in the products and services offered. ICT companies are rapidly adapting to the new conditions and requirements of the information society, where information processing using information and telecommunications technology is an important economic, social and cultural value. Despite research and systematisation of information on the ICT sector, there is still a research gap concerning its international relevance. The question therefore arises: what impact does the presence of ICT clusters in the Countries of the European Union have on sustainable development? This was a prerequisite for conducting research to determine the importance of the sector in EU countries. The starting point of the deliberations was the definition of information and communication technologies and clusters. Location index (LQ), specialization index (SI) and cluster index (CI) were used to assess the sector. The research identified the factors determining the growth of the sector in the countries of the European Union.

Opis:: The aim of the study is to analyze the growth of research and development activities of Polish ICT sector in 2007-2014. The theoretical part presents the issues related to the concept and classification of ICT sector, and the importance of research and development of ICT sector for socio-economic development. The empirical part presents the econometric analysis of expenditures on research and development of Polish ICT sector in the period of 2007-2014. On the basis of the data from the Central Statistical Office sixteen potential explanatory variables were defined. There were estimated three econometric models. In the best fitted model two variables were included finally: net sales in the ICT sector and net export sales in the ICT services.
Celem opracowania jest analiza rozwoju działalności badawczo-rozwojowej polskiego sektora ICT w latach 2007-2014. W części teoretycznej przedstawiono problematykę związaną z pojęciem i klasyfikacją sektora ICT, a także znaczenie działalności badawczo-rozwojowej sektora ICT dla rozwoju społeczno-gospodarczego. W części empirycznej przedstawiono analizę ekonometryczną nakładów na działalność badawczo-rozwojową polskiego sektora ICT z lat 2007-2014. W oparciu o dane z roczników GUS zdefiniowano szesnaście potencjalnych zmiennych objaśniających. Oszacowano trzy modele ekonometryczne. W najlepiej dopasowanym modelu ostatecznie znalazły się dwie zmienne: przychody netto ze sprzedaży w sektorze ICT oraz przychody netto ze sprzedaży na eksport w usługach ICT.
