Opis:: The research objective for this study is to investigate different Information Technology (IT) tools for Business Intelligence (BI) development. Firstly, the issue of BI was identified and the various ages in BI development were presented. Then, the most important IT tools used in BI development were discussed. Finally, some strengths and weaknesses of described tools were demonstrated. The study was based mainly on a critical analysis of literature, creative thinking and an interpretive philosophy. The results of this research can be used by IT and business leaders as they plan and develop BI applications in their organizations.
Celem artykułu jest rozpoznanie możliwości różnych narzędzi IT do budowy aplikacji Business Intelligence (BI). Na wstępie zidentyfikowano istotę BI oraz opisano trzy etapy rozwoju systemów BI. Następnie omówiono różne narzędzia IT, jakie mogą być stosowane do budowy BI w organizacjach. Ostatecznie, mocne i słabe strony tych narzędzi zostały zaprezentowane. Badania zostały przeprowadzone w oparciu o krytyczną analizę literatury przedmiotu. Wyniki badań mogą być interesujące dla specjalistów IT oraz menedżerów, którzy planują tworzenie aplikacji BI w swoich organizacjach.

Opis:: W artykule zaprezentowane zostały wyniki badań, które dotyczyły samooceny uczniów w zakresie korzystania z narzędzi technologii informacyjnej. Uzyskane wyniki badań dowiodły, że badani uczniowie są świadomi dobrodziejstw współczesnej techniki i umiejętnie z nich korzystają. Widoczny jest wzrost umiejętności w deklaracjach badanych w zależności od wieku uczniów.
The paper presents the results of the research concerning students' selfesteem as far as the use of information technology tools is concerned. The results proved that the students are aware of the benefits of modern technology and that they use them skillfully An increase in. skills is visible in the declarations of respondents, depending on the age of the students.

Opis:: Warunki eksploatacji miejskich sieci ciepłowniczych muszą sprostać wielu wyzwaniom, w tym restrykcyjnym wymaganiom UE, dotyczącym polityki zrównoważonego rozwoju, ograniczenia emisji zanieczyszczeń, zmniejszenia zużycia energii oraz poprawy efektywności energetycznej w całym systemie ciepłowniczym. Obecnie wiele przedsiębiorstw energetycznych wytwarzających lub przesyłających ciepło wdraża technologie informatyczne i opracowuje strategie operacyjne w celu zoptymalizowania kosztów i poprawy ogólnej pracy sieci. W artykule omówiono systemy i narzędzia informatyczne, w tym dwa nowoczesne programy dostępne na rynku europejskim, będące zaawansowanymi narzędziami do analizowania pracy sieci ciepłowniczych w zakresie bieżącej eksploatacji oraz planowania ich rozbudowy. Programy umożliwiają dokonanie wszelkich inżynierskich obliczeń hydraulicznych i termodynamicznych, zarówno statycznych, jak i dynamicznych.
The exploitation of district heating networks has to cope with many challenges, such as EU demands involving balanced development policy, carbon dioxide emission limits, energy usage reduction and increasing the energetic efficiency of the heating systems. Many energetic companies at present apply information technology and work on cost optimization strategies and improving their heating systems in general. The article covers the usage of different methods and technologies, including two modern computer systems available on the European market which are advanced devices for analyzing heating system exploitation and for planning its development. The computer programs enables hydraulic and thermodynamic calculation, both static and dynamic.

Opis:: The paper presents the main issues of the management of electrical grids. Selected information technology tools supporting electrical grids maintenance are presented. In electrical infrastructure maintenance of power companies, geographic information systems are increasingly used to support the management of their resources. Their functionalities in terms of creating comprehensive databases for the electrical infrastructure of the power sector are described. The important information technology tools regarding spatial systems for supporting maintenance and operation management electrical grids and the conditions of their implementation are presented. This paper also attempts to present an innovative multidimensional evaluation of the technical and economic benefits resulting from the use of modern information technology tools for the management of energy infrastructure.

Opis:: Systems analysis and design (SAND) is an information systems (IS) course that is taught around the world in most higher education management of information systems (MIS) programmes. However, the theoretical nature of this type of course presents challenges for instructors as they devise instructional strategies to convey the abstract concepts that are necessary for their students to understand, such as, how to draw data flow diagrams (DFD) to correctly represent the informational specifications of an IS. Evidence suggests that one of the factors of the low success rates of many IS-design projects in the workforce is due to the graduate recruits’ failure to acquire basic SAND knowledge. While a considerable amount of literature focused on integrating technology into the teaching practices to facilitate the knowledge acquisition, a few investigated its effectiveness to fulfil this particular purpose. This paper reflects on such challenges and proposes an evaluation approach to assess the effectiveness of technology integration in teaching an IS course like SAND. The empirical interpretations represented in this paper are gathered through a series of quasi-experimental 2x3 factorial experiments that were conducted at four higher education institutions and based on the Rasch item response theory and measurement analysis. The preliminary analysis from this study provides reliable evidence to delineate key instructional strategies when designing higher education IS courses.

Modern information technologies in internal communication of public organizations - the preferences of their use

Opis:: Internal communication in organizations is very important element of the function-ing of the institution, without any organizations could not work properly. Nowadays we have many different modern tools that allow us to streamline this process.This bachelor thesis is aimed at understanding the preferences of public sector workers about modern tools of internal communication. An important element is also to examine the frequency of occurrence of modern methods of internal communication and whether persons employed in the public sector prefer them more than their traditional equivalent.The first chapter is a theoretical description of internal communication in organizations, traditional and modern tools of internal communication. The second chapter begins with a description of the methodology of the study, which was conducted to examine opinions of the employees of public institutions. It also has included analysis of the responses. The third chapter focuses on the conclusions that have been drawn based on the results of the study. The main findings of the study are: the people working in the public sector prefer by far telephone calls and e-mails from all modern communication tools, which coincides with the frequency of their occurrence; employees of public insti-tutions appreciate more modern tools of communication than their conventional counterparts.
Komunikacja wewnętrzna w organizacjach jest bardzo ważnym elementem funkcjonowania danej instytucji, bez których nie byłaby w stanie funkcjonować. W dzisiejszych czasach mamy wiele różnych nowoczesnych narzędzi, które umożliwiają nam usprawnić ten proces.Praca ta ma na celu poznanie preferencji pracowników sektora publicznego względem nowoczesnych narzędzi komunikacji wewnętrznej. Ważnym elementem jest też zbadanie częstotliwości występowania nowoczesnych metod komunikacji wewnętrznej oraz tego, czy osoby zatrudnione w sektorze publicznym preferują je bardziej, aniżeli ich tradycyjne odpowiedniki.Pierwszy rozdział jest teoretycznym opisem przebiegu komunikacji wewnętrznej w organizacjach, tradycyjnych oraz nowoczesnych narzędzi komunikacji wewnętrznej. Rozdział drugi zaczyna się od omówienia metodologii badania, które zostało przeprowadzone, by zbadać opinię pracowników instytucji publicznych. Jest w nim również zawarta analiza odpowiedzi uzyskanych w trakcie badania. Rozdział trzeci skupia się na wnioskach, które zostały wyciągnięte na podstawie wyników badania. Główne wnioski płynące z badania to: osoby pracujące w sektorze publicznym w największym stopniu preferują spośród wszystkich nowoczesnych narzędzi komunikacji wewnętrznej rozmowy telefoniczne oraz pocztę elektroniczną, co pokrywa się z częstotliwością ich występowania; pracownicy instytucji publicznych cenią sobie bardziej nowoczesne narzędzia komunikacji niż ich tradycyjne odpowiedniki.
