Opis:: The Company presented in the article is one the biggest producer of copper and silver in the Word. What made Company very modern, is strict and respected environmental standards, high quality of products and existence on the biggest stocks exchange throughout the world. The developing direction was determined by strategy, which enforced on Company searching an access to cheap mine, which is also situated in Africa. The Company has been in the continent of Africa since 1997, when it obtained right to exploitation Kimpe bed. The bed is located in Shaba province which belongs to Democratic Republic of Congo. At the present time exploited bed by KGHM is continually transformed and modified. In addition there are new investments connected with new technology. Base on the led research it is under consideration a suggestion of buying up rights to exploitation very similar bed situated near the border with Democratic Republic of Congo, in Zambia. For KGHM Company and Polish economy these new challenges should be controlled in details to avoid mistakes which are related to specific nature of African continent, its phenomenon and constant lack of political and economy stabilization.

Opis:: Celem niniejszej pracy było przedstawienie uwarunkowań geologicznych oraz geotechnicznych Obiektu Unieszkodliwiania Odpadów Wydobywczych (OUOW) Żelazny Most i opis jego funkcjonowania, opierającego się na bezpiecznej eksploatacji oraz monitoringu geotechnicznym. W pracy wzięto pod uwagę również koncepcje dalszego rozwoju, które dotyczą przede wszystkim rozbudowy Obiektu oraz możliwości użytecznego wykorzystania składowanych na jego terenie odpadów poflotacyjnych, a także oddziaływanie OUOW Żelazny Most na najbliższe otoczenie. Badania osadów w zakresie dyfrakcyjnej analizy rentgenowskiej oraz skaningowej mikroskopii elektronowej umożliwiły określenie składu mineralnego oraz potwierdziły występowanie okruszcowania części ziaren.
The aim of this work was to delineate geological and geotechnical conditions of the Żelazny Most Tailings Storage Facility and its functioning which is grounded on safe exploitation and geotechnical monitoring. Conceptions of development which concern primarily future extension and possibilities of flotation tailings utilizations and Tailings Storage Facility’s influence on near environment were also considered. X-ray diffraction analysis and scanning electron microscopy of tailings enabled the determination of the mineral composition and confirmed the occurrence of ore minerals in some of the grains.

The article presents the perspectives for the construction of an industrial and technology park located in the urban and rural commune of Lubin. This area is characterized by a monoculture of the copper industry associated with the largest employer in the region – KGHM Polska Miedź S.A. The mining activities of Polish Copper will be limited in the long term. For this reason, other possibilities of exploiting the region’s potential are being sought. It seems that the construction of an industry and technology park is one of the most promising. Local governments, Lower Silesia voivodship, Industrial Development Agency, National Agricultural Support Center, representatives of KGHM and representatives of the Chancellery of the Prime Minister are showing interest in this undertaking.

Opis:: This article presents qualitative and quantitative analysis of the waste produced by KGHM Polska Miedź. The waste has been analyzed according to its chemical composition and balanced in order to be reused and recycled. Special attention has been paid to mining industries producing the biggest amount of waste and ore enrichment businesses generating waste, which isn’t reused nowadays. Laboratory reseach has been conducted on floatation waste, different kinds of slags, waste gases and water slag extracts. Attention has been drawn to the possibility of using a computer program SLAG - PROP for analyzing physicochemical features, technological features and the refining of the acquired waste. Consequently, the further way of utilization of waste has been shown. From this point of view, analyses of DTA and TG slags in an oxide coating seem especially interesting. Having a particular composition they can be successfully utillised in the refining processes of copper pyrometallyrgy.

Opis:: Artykuł został opracowany w oparciu o materiały udostępnione przez KGHM Polska Miedź SA Oddział Zakłady Górnicze „Lubin” i wykorzystane przy pisaniu pracy dyplomowej przez studenta Artura Kucharskiego na temat wybrany ze strony internetowej www.kghm.pl. Obecnie w podziemiach kopalń pracują maszyny (samojezdne maszyny górnicze, dalej: SMG), w których stosowane są najnowocześniejsze elementy mechaniczne, hydrauliczne, elektryczne a coraz częściej także elektroniczne. Bezpieczeństwo i komfort pracy operatora zapewniają wygodne, zazwyczaj zamknięte, klimatyzowane i wytrzymałe kabiny. Sterowanie maszyną odbywa się za pomocą precyzyjnych manetek a widoczność zapewniają urządzenia wizyjne wysokiej jakości. Na przestrzeni lat zredukowano również ilość spalin i ciepła emitowanego przez maszyny, co pozwoliło na poprawę warunków wentylacyjnych. Dążenie do poprawy jakości i niezawodności maszyn zarówno na etapie produkcji, jak i eksploatacji pozwala nie tylko na zmniejszenie awaryjności i związanych z nią skutków ekonomicznych, ale przyczynia się do zmniejszenia negatywnego działania na człowieka i środowisko. Wykonywanie okresowych obsług technicznych, oprócz sprostaniu wymaganiom narzuconym przez przepisy oraz instrukcje użytkowania, pozwala na utrzymanie sprawności, a także zwiększenie niezawodności maszyn, co skutkuje uniknięciem niespodziewanych awarii i związanych z nimi przestojów. Poprzez porównanie harmonogramów i zakresów przeglądów dla maszyn wyprodukowanych przez polskich i zagranicznych producentów scharakteryzowano wymagania dotyczące wykonywania tych przeglądów, wyróżniając: - wymagania ze strony producentów maszyn wynikające z dokumentacji techniczno-ruchowej, - wymagania wynikające ze strony przepisów obowiązujących w KGHM Polska Miedź SA Oddział Zakłady Górnicze „Lubin” [2]. Artykuł przedstawia zasady i sposoby wykonywania okresowych przeglądów technicznych oraz ich wpływ na utrzymanie sprawności i niezawodności SMG. Scharakteryzowano wpływ sposobu wykonywania okresowych przeglądów technicznych na sprawność i dyspozycyjność maszyn. Wyróżniono metodę prowadzenia obsług technicznych w „zależności od czasu użytkowania” jako najbardziej skuteczną i prowadzącą do efektywnej gospodarki samojezdnymi maszynami górniczymi. Analizą porównawczą objęto okresowe przeglądy techniczne ładowarek kopalnianych producenta polskiego i zagranicznego. Przedstawiono propozycje działań, których podjęcie pozwoliłoby na usprawnienie i poprawę najczęściej stosowanego obecnie „ujednoliconego” trybu realizacji okresowych przeglądów technicznych.
This article was prepared on the basis of the corporate materials provided by KGHM Polska Miedź S.A- Lubin Mining Division and which Artur Kucharski, a student, used to write his diploma paper on the topic selected from the list of diploma paper topics to be found on KGHM`s website www.kghm.pl. Currently in underground mines the machines are equipped with the most technically advanced mechanical, hydraulic, electrical and electronic elements. The safety of a machine operator, as well as his work comfort are ensured by comfortable, air-conditioned and durable driver’s cabins. The machine is operated by means of high-precision levers and the screens provide high-quality view. Additionally, in recent years there has been a substantial reduction of emission of fumes and heat from the machines, which resulted in better ventilation underground. Pursuing the improvement of quality and reliability of the machines, both during production and operation results in fewer breakdowns and lower costs, as well as in a lower negative impact on a machine operator and the working environment. Regular technical inspections do not only aim at following regulations and operation manuals but also assure the required durability and reliability of the machines, thus eliminating unexpected breakdowns and downtime. The comparison of the scheduled technical inspections and the scope of maintenance work for machines produced by Polish and foreign companies resulted in summary of the requirements for technical inspections, with an emphasis on the requirements set by machine manufacturers arising from technical and start-up documentation and the requirements arising from the regulations in force at Polska Miedź S.A- Lubin Mining Division (2). The article presents the rules and manner of regular technical inspections and their influence on the maintenance and reliability of SMG. The author describe the influence of the manner of regular technical inspections on the maintenance and availability of the machines. A special emphasis was put on the method of conducting technical inspection called „depending on the working time of a machine” as the most effective one and resulting in an efficient management of self-driven mining machines. The paper also puts forward a proposal of undertakings, which could result in improvement of the most often used „unified” method of conducting regular technical inspections.

Opis:: The effectiveness of knowledge management is now one of the key elements determining the success of an organization. Creating a knowledge management strategy and the gradual implementation of its individual components is perceived as a feature of innovative companies. The publication aims to present the results of quantitative and qualitative research concerning the assessment of the organizational maturity of KGHM Polska Miedź S.A. in the field of knowledge management and the assessment of the IT services provided to support information searches in KGHM. The analysis of the research results also allowed to identify the benefits related to the implementation of the KGHM Search application. Moreover, the study shows the diagnosed development barriers in the discussed area, indicating, inter alia the need to reduce organizational and technological shortages in the field of communication and information gathered in the organization. The article presents the conclusions of the conducted research and proposes a set of recommendations that may increase the innovativeness of the entire organization.

Opis:: The paper presents the plight of KGHM Polska Miedź SA due to by the fall in copper prices on global stock markets. It has been noted that these prices apply to smelting copper. Meanwhile, the copper is in increasing quantities supplied to China in the form of concentrates. This causes a drop in prices of smelting copper which becomes less popular. Statistics since 2012 have recorded a permanent surplus of consumption over production of this metal. Therefore, the price of smelting copper will probably be at low level over the next years. It poses a threat for the future existence of the company. The exploitation of new deposits is conducted at a depth of below 1200 m. The rock temperature is about 55°C, which creates technical and financial problems. Mining work is carried out along the dip of the deposit at increasingly greater depths. In this direction, 10 km away, there is the “Wilków” natural gas field. It is proposed to undertake diversification of mining activities. Gold mining seems to be the prospective activity. Its economic concentrations occur in the mines of the KGHM, in the Lower Silesia region and abroad. Likewise, the company can achieve positive effects in investments related to the mining of diamonds.
