Opis:: The aim of this paper is to present and assess Britain’s attitude towards Libya’s state terrorism in the 1980s. It presents the circumstances of involvement of Libyan authorities in the acts of terror, as well as the reasons for directing such activity against the United Kingdom. The paper discusses the response of the British authorities to the Libyan-backed terrorist activity and the results of investigations into attacks perpetrated by Libyans against British citizens. The main thesis of the paper is the statement that the politics of Great Britain in reaction for support offered by Muammar Gaddafi’s regime to the international terrorist network was formulated in line with the main directions of US policy towards Libya.

Opis:: The work is aimed at discussing issues related to the civil war in Libya and its impact on the European Union. In particular, the intra-EU relations regarding the differences in the approach to the Libyan conflict were analyzed, primarily using the example of the French Republic and the Italian Republic, which present different interests. The central question guiding the considerations undertaken is related to the threats posed by further destabilization of Libya: whether phenomena such as migration, smuggling, terrorism in the close neighborhood and in the European Union itself, can deepen divisions within the European Union, as well as undermine its international role? The entire discussion is focused on describing the risks resulting in further polarization within the European Union, which is strongly influenced by Libya, given their close proximity and the importance of the European Union in the context of the conflict in question.
Celem pracy jest omówienie problematyki związanej z wojną domową w Libii oraz jej wpływu na Unię Europejską. W szczególności analizie zostały poddane relacje wewnątrzunijne, dotyczące różnic w podejściu do konfliktu libijskiego, w pierwszym rzędzie na przykładzie Republiki Francuskiej oraz Republiki Włoskiej, prezentujących odmienne interesy. Podstawowe pytanie, jakie przyświeca podjętym rozważaniom, odnosi się do zagrożeń, jakie niesie za sobą dalsza destabilizacja Libii: czy zjawiska takie jak migracja, przemyt, terroryzm w bliskim sąsiedztwie i w samej Unii Europejskiej, mogą pogłębić podziały wewnątrz Unii Europejskiej, a także podważyć jej międzynarodową rolę? Całość rozważań skupia się na opisie zagrożeń skutkujących dalszą polaryzacją w Unii Europejskiej, na którą Libia silnie oddziałuje, z uwagi na ich bliskie sąsiedztwo oraz znaczenia Unii Europejskiej w kontekście omawianego konfliktu.
