Opis:
This study is based on the analysis of the sedimentology and the fossil assemblages of the Pleistocene deposits in Eastern Tunisia. It aims to establish the different fauna assemblages in order to highlight their paleoenvironments and discuss the importance of the Persististrombus latus distribution especially in the MIS 5e deposits around the Mediterranean Basin. The stratigraphic succession has been divided into two main units. The lower unit is quartz-rich sediment. Its lower marine term revealed well preserved species (Bivalves, Gastropods, Echinoids and Scirripedia) dominated by Acanthocardia, Cerastoderma, Parvicardium, Arca, Donax, Glycymeris, Loripes, Tellina and Cerithium. This fauna is representative of a typical association/biocenosis which may be developed in a sheltered bay, where the hydrodynamism is regularly moderate to low and/or quickly post-mortem buried. The upper unit is carbonated. Its basal term is also rich marine fauna which contains the extant tropical West African species Persististrombus latus. The occurrence of Persististrombus latus in this unit compared to its presence in the whole Mediterranean basin in the Late Pleistocene leads to question its importance in the interpretation of the climate warming during the Late Pleistocene, and to suggest its Atlantic origin.

Opis:
We conducted a prospective cohort study of 20 patients with a history of paediatric multisystem inflam- matory syndrome temporally associated with COVID-19 (PIMS group, median age seven years, 70% male) and 34 healthy controls without such a history (CONTROL group, median age eight years, 38% male) aged 5–12 years, to assess the immunogenicity of Pfizer-BioNTech COVID-19 mRNA BNT162b2 vaccine (ComirnatyÒ). Patients received two doses of COVID-19 mRNA BNT162b2 vaccine (10 ug/dose) 21 days apart. Pre-vaccine anti-S SARS-CoV-2 IgG antibodies were measured on the day of the first dose and at the median of 23 days after the second dose. The study was conducted during the COVID-19 wave dominated by the Omicron variant of the virus. Anti-NCP SARS-CoV-2 IgG antibodies were measured twice to evaluate incidents of infection during the study period. Pre-vaccine quantification of both types of antibodies allowed us to differentiate patients into COVID-19 naive and previously infected in order to compare hybrid immunity with vaccine-induced immunity. Before vaccination, anti-S IgG serum geometric mean concentration (GMC) was 61.17 BAU/ml in the PIMS group and 24.97 in the CONTROL group, while post-vaccination GMC was 3879.14 BAU/ml and 3704.87 BAU/ml, respectively, and did not significantly differ between the groups. Hybrid immunity (regardless of PIMS history) resulted in a higher concentration of SARS-CoV-2 anti-S antibodies after vaccination. Four (20%) of the children in the PIMS group and 11 (32%) in the CONTROL group got infected with SARS-CoV-2 during the study period, yet all of them asymptomatically, and this event has not significantly altered post-vaccination anti-S titers. In conclusion, COVID-19 vaccination was highly immunogenic in children, including those with a history of PIMS-TS; hybrid immunity overperforms vaccine-induced immunity in terms of serological response in children. However, vaccination effectiveness in preventing SARS-CoV-2 infections in children should be further evaluated.

Opis:
Fluvial deposits subjected to this study are exposed at the Brześnica site, in the south-western part of the Wielkopolska region in Poland, which was close to the ice-sheet limit during the Last Glacial Maximum (LGM). Sedimentological analyses, including lithofacies descriptions, palaeocurrent measurements, grain size and rounding analyses and heavy mineral compositions indicate that the fluvial deposits at Brześnica were deposited in braided river environment. The following fluvial sedimentary processes were inferred: (1) shallow, rapid flow alternating with waning flow, (2) infilling of erosional channels with fluvial sediments during flood events, (3) changes from supercritical to subcritical flows, and (4) shallow sheet floods. The results of OSL dating indicated sediment deposition ~65.2 ±1.5 ka, i.e. in MIS 4, that was here characterized by cold environmental conditions and a general shift from meandering to braided fluvial sedimentation style. This finding contrasts with accumulation/erosion phases interpreted previously in this region for that time interval; however, it is consistent with recent studies of fluvial systems functioning during MIS 5-2 and of factors responsible for sedimentation style.

Opis:
Lacustrine sediments representing Marine Isotope Stage 11 (MIS 11) were found in Hermanów (SE Poland) in a present-day closed depression under a thin cover of Weichselian and Holocene deposits (1.4 m). These sediments filled a palaeolake created as a result of melting of a dead-ice block at the end of MIS 12. Geological research has excluded the presence of an ice sheet during MIS 12 in this area. The lobe of the ice sheet of this glaciation was located several kilometres to the west of Hermanów. The palaeolake was part of a larger palaeolakeland in southeastern Poland, formed during MIS 11. The palaeomorphology of this interglacial is evident in the contemporary relief of the area and the outline of the lakes corresponds to the pattern of the closed palaeodepressions. Based on the record of sediments from Hermanów, a new perspective regarding the sub-division of MIS 11 is presented. Two regressive phases are observed in the Holsteinian Interglacial (MIS 11c) - OHO and YHO. The subsequent substages with five cold fluctuations according to the newest stratigraphic standards should be assigned to MIS 11b with a very clear cooling and a slightly warmer MIS 11a. Carbon isotopic composition of organic matter corroborates geological and environmental analysis. The isotopic composition suggests two cooling periods: OHO and MIS 11b. Stable climatic conditions with little temperature fluctuations persisted between the cooling periods.

Opis:
A high number of IT implementation projects still end in failure or only partial success. Some IT projects, however, are terminated already during project completion due to unsatisfactory progress of work or other organisational problems affecting the project. Particularly noteworthy are re-implementation projects, where an MIS is implemented again. The aim of this article is to present a characteristic of a re-implementation-type IT project consisting in an MIS-class system implementation. The author presents the results of his research conducted with the multiple case study method. The conclusions may be interesting both for practitioners and theoreticians of business informatics specialising in IT project completion
