Opis:
This paper studies an application of linear MPC and PID techniques to a 6-DOF industrial manipulator. The manipulator is IRp-6 made by ABB during 70s of last century. It is characterized by high gear ratios and joint linear friction. These make the control task more convenient for PID. The robustness and stability against model un-certainty were examined. Also, the effi ciency of both techniques against noise rejection was checked by adding a white Gaussian noise. Results of simulation prove the advantages of MPC technique to PID in robustness and noise rejection.

Opis:
The paper considers optimizing Model Predictive Control (MPC) for nonlinear plants with output constraints under uncertainties. Although the MPC technology can handle the constraints in the model by solving constraint model based optimization task, satisfying the plant output constraints under the model uncertainty still remains a challenge. The paper proposes Robustly Feasible MPC (RFMPC), which achieves feasibility of the outputs in the controlled plant. The RFMPC which is applied to control quantity in Drinking Water Distribution Systems (DWDS) is illustrated by application to the DWDS example. In the simulation exercise, Genetic Algorithm is selected as the optimization solver and the reduced search space methodology is applied in the implementation under MATLABEPANET environment.

Opis:
In advanced control, a control target tracks the set points and tends to achieve optimal operation of a process. Model predictive control (MPC) is used to track the set points. When the set points correspond to an optimum economic trajectory that is sent from an economic layer, the process will be gradually reaching the optimal operation. This study proposes the integration of an economic layer and MPC layer to solve the problem of different time scale and unreachable set points. Both layers require dynamic models that are subject to objective functions. The prediction output of a model is not always asymptotically equal to the measured output of a process. Therefore, Kalman filter is proposed as a state feedback to the two-layer integration. The proposed controller only considers the linear empirical model and the inherent model is identified by system identification, which is assumed to be an ample representation of the process. A depropanizer process case study has been used for demonstration of the proposed technique. The result shows that the proposed controller tends to improve the profit of the process smoothly and continuously, until the process reaches an asymptotically maximum profit point.

Opis:
This paper examines the vowel system of present day Malacca Portuguese Creole (MPC) or Kristang, based on recordings from interviews with five female native speakers of MPC. A total of 1083 monophthongs were extracted from the recordings. The first and second formants of these vowels were measured and analysed. Considerable variation was found within and between the speakers in the way each of the vowels was produced. There were also noticeable overlaps between /i/ and /e/ suggesting that they were being used interchangeably. The quality of some of the vowels found in this study was also found to be different from those previously described. Based on the reduced vowel inventory, the variation in the way that vowels are produced, and the overlaps between vowels, the findings suggest the possibility of phonological instability of this endangered language.

Opis:
The model predictive current control (MPCC) of the permanent magnet synchronous motor (PMSM) is highly dependent on motor parameters, and a parameter mismatch will cause the system performance degradation. Therefore, a strategy based on an internal model control (IMC) observer is proposed to correct the mismatch parameters. Firstly, based on the MPCC strategy of the PMSM, according to the dynamic model of the PMSM in a rotating orthogonal coordinate system, -axis and -axis current IMC observers are designed, and the stability derivation is carried out. It is proved that the observer can estimate -axis and -axis disturbance components caused by a parameter mismatch without static error. Then, the estimated disturbance component is compensated for by the reference voltage prediction expression. Finally, the effectiveness of the proposed strategy is verified in two different conditions. The experimental results show that the proposed control strategy can effectively compensate for the parameter mismatch disturbance in MPCC for PMSM, improve the dynamic and static performance of the system, and improve the robustness of the system. voltage prediction expression.

Opis:
In the paper issues related to the use of model predictive control (MPC) of the drive system with an elastic coupling and an induction motor are presented. After a short introduction the mathematical model of the driving motor with a vector control structure and the two-mass drive system are described. Then, the idea of the MPC is introduced. Next the exact formulation of the MPC for a two-mass drive system is shown. In the MPC algorithm the constraints of the inner and control variables are taken into consideration. The results obtained in the simulation study confirm the correct work of the investigated structure.

Opis:
The article presents two contributions: the first is an optimised control structure for photovoltaic grid connected systems (PVGCSs). The power chain is composed of two cascaded power converters, namely, a boost converter and a five-level T-type multilevel converter. Traditionally, each power converter is controlled by a separate mode control (SMC) from the other, which is computationally intensive since each converter requires its own control system, which is not practical. The suggested control, called integrated finite set model predictive control (IFS-MPC), allows controlling cascaded converters at the same time in one stage, instead of controlling them separately. Consequently, the overall implementation system is widely reduced. The second contribution of the article is a modified IFS-MPC called modified integrated finite set-model predictive control (M-IFS-MPC), which ensures the correct functioning of the grid-tied PV system under certain faults in converter components. Indeed, when one of the DC-link capacitors fails or when one of the auxiliary switches breaks down, by selecting an appropriate choice of the DC-link capacitors’ voltage reference, the proposed design allows a normal operation without intervention on the power circuit.

Opis:
W artykule zostały zaprezentowane badania związane z zastosowaniem regulatora MPC (Model Predictive Control) do sterowania procesem suszenia konwekcyjnego.
The article presents studies on the application of the MPC (Model Predictive Control) controller to operate convection drying process. The relationship between outflow rate of dried material and corn moisture content and other measured parameters is determined using a hybrid model consisting of partial differential equation and a neural network. The neural network ensures taking into consideration nonlinearities connected with drying process dynamics. Network weights are estimated in real time using extended algorithm of the Kalman filter. This allows the model to adapt automatically to changing process conditions and dried material type.

Opis:
Controllers based on linear matrix inequalities (LMI) and model predictive control (MPC) both use optimization methods; there are however significant differences between them. In case of LMI controllers, optimization is carried out during controller synthesis, because LMI’s are an optimization tool that requires a linear programming problem being solved. With MPC controllers, however, optimization methods are not used as much in controller synthesis as in controller algorithm operation, to determine optimal control signal values based on the found minimum of the criteria function. A square function is used with boundaries from above and below, which requires a square programming problem, with boundaries for decision variables, being solved. In this paper controller synthesis methods using LMI and MPC are shown, with a focus on the steps that need to be performed, and a comparison of both methods.
