Opis:: The main goal of this article is to show how John Henry Newman’s Mariology and thought on Blessed Mary penetrated into the Mariology of the Second Vatican Council. To begin with, the author outlines the context of Newman’s theological activity as well as the context of the last Council. Subsequently, selected aspects of Newman’s mariological reflection are discussed as they emerge in the conciliar documents. The author then advances a theological assessment of Newman’s conceptions which found their way into the documents of the council.

Opis:: The article presents the figure of a rather less known polish mystic, Sr. Wanda Boniszewska CSA. Her life covered almost the entire twentieth century in which events she participated in while surviving two world wars and the atrocities of communism. Her great strength lies in the extraordinary relationship she had with the Blessed Mother, which grew and developed out of her love for Jesus Christ. The above-mentioned framework presents the various Marian themes from the life and spirituality of Sr. Boniszewska – events and thoughts penned in the spiritual memoir of a Polish nun. The Mariology of this spirituality is grounded on Christology. It is in the perspective of this great love to Christ that a strong and enduring relationship with the Blessed Mother is built, as in accordance with the Catholic tradition. Sr. Wanda Boniszewska who was gifted with a rich personal and spiritual history and story is constantly wating to be discovered.

Opis:: The author of the article in his scientific research presents an attempt at a Mariological interpretation of the pericope on the true relatives of Jesus (Matt. 12,46-50). He concludes that it is not St. Matthew’s intention to present Jesus as sending his relatives away without meeting them. The author points out that the Evangelist does not intend to take any stand on the position of Mary. He only emphasizes the exceptional standing of the disciples. The episode depicted in the narrative on the true relatives of Jesus (Matt. 12,46-50) has been clearly softened.In his article the author shows that Mary, the Mother of Jesus, the Messiah and His disciples are presented in a more favorable light than in Mk 3,31-35. St. Matthew has preserved a certain mariological continuity in his evangelical account in which he presents an exceptionally beautiful and extraordinary image of Mary, the Mother of Jesus, the Messiah. The picture of Mary presented indirectly in the pericope on the true relatives of Jesus (Matt. 12,46-50) remains in editorial harmony with earlier accounts in the Gospel of the Childhood of Jesus (Matt. 1-2). This outline of the image of Mary, the Mother of Jesus, the Messiah confirms the fact that she was held in high esteem by the first Church of Jesus Christ, when she was still alive.

Zdecydowanie promuje modlitwę różańcową, m.in. w Rosarium Virginis Mariae, ale apeluje o kontemplację przypominanych w nim misteriów naszej wiary. Apeluje i prosi, by nie poprzestawać na samym odmawianiu różańca.
According to the methodological principle, the correct interpretation of John Paul II (not only him) suggests taking into account the broader context of his statements. In the presentation of the Pope’s Mariology and Marian devotion, he focuses on what is more or less astonishing. John Paul II used the “Treaty” of St. Louis Grignion de Montfort. He never argued with him, never criticized him, but he did not take over everything. John Paul II consistently teaches the Mariology of Vatican II, not the Mariology of Grignion; strongly promotes the prayer of the rosary, incl. in Rosarium Virginis Mariae, but calls for contemplation of the Mysteries of our faith, which are recalled in it; she appeals and asks people not to be satisfied with simply pray the Rosary.

Opis:: The paper analyzes contemporary trends in mariology. It briefly outlines the assumptions of the maximalist (christotypic) and minimalist (ecclesiotypic) mariology. By suggesting their complementarity the ecumenical model of mariology is proposed. His basis is systematically developed in many bilateral groups, e.g.: The Ecumenical Society of the Blessed Virgin Mary in England, The Anglican-Roman Catholic International Commission – ARCIC, The Lutheran-Catholic Commission in the USA and Germany, The Group of Dombes. Echoes of these arrangements have been reflected in the content of catechisms developed by local churches, e.g. in the Netherlands, Germany and France.
Artykuł podejmuje analizę współczesnych nurtów w mariologii. W zwięzły sposób zarysowuje założenia mariologii maksymalistycznej (chrystotypicznej) i minimalistycznej (eklezjotypicznej). Postulując ich komplementarność, proponuje model ekumeniczny mariologii, której podstawy są systematycznie wypracowywane w wielu grupach bilateralnych. Dla przykładu zaprezentowano owoce prac: Ekumenicznego Stowarzyszenia Błogosławionej Dziewicy Maryi w Anglii, Międzynarodowej Komisji Anglikańsko-Katolickiej, Komisji do Dialogu Luterańsko-Katolickiego w USA, Luterańsko-katolickiej grupy na terenie Niemiec, Grupy z Dombes. Echa tych uzgodnień znalazły swoje odzwierciedlenie w treści katechizmów wypracowywanych przez Kościoły lokalne, np. w Holandii, Niemczech czy Francji.

Opis:: Biblijne badania ks. Józefa Kudasiewicza (1926-2012), profesora z KUL, przyczyniły się do wyjaśnienia lub wypromowania ważnych zagadnień mariologicznych. Maryja jest proroczo zapowiedziana w Starym Przymierzu jako Córa Syjonu. Nowe Przymierze ukazuje ją jako Ikonę Kościoła. Dla lepszego poznania godności i funkcji Matki Pana służy dewiza: „przez Jezusa do Maryi”. Był do niej przekonany Jan Paweł II. Kudasiewicz podał jej uzasadnienie biblijne. W swym dorobku mariologicznym zostawił medytacyjny komentarz do wszystkich tekstów biblijnych o Maryi. Refleksje prowadził w kontekście życia Kościoła w Polsce. Doszedł w ten sposób do sformułowania wielu postulatów (często niepopularnych) właściwego kształtowania pobożności maryjnej.
Józef Kudasiewicz’s (1926-2012) biblical studies constitute an important contribution to explaining or promoting vital Mariological issues, his theological sensitivity being shaped by Polish Marian devotion and by the teaching of the Second Vatican Council. Kudasiewicz convincingly argued for the need of pursuing ecclesiotypical Mariology. The Virgin Mary is prophesied in the Old Testament as the Daughter of Zion, while the New Testament shows her as an Icon of the Church. A better understanding of the dignity and function of Jesus’ Mother is obtained with the acceptance of the motto: “through Jesus to Mary”, very much embraced by John Paul II and biblically justified by Kudasiewicz. The latter scholar’s Mariological publications include a meditative commentary to all biblical references to Mary, grounded in the context of the Church in Poland. In this way, Kudasiewicz arrives at several (frequently unpopular) propositions as to proper Marian devotion.

Opis:: Artykuł stawia sobie za cel przyjrzenie się działalności pisarskiej św. Atanazego Wielkiego, biskupa Aleksandrii (296–373). Analiza dzieł św. Atanazego Wielkiego jest próbą wydobycia specyfiki jego myśli maryjnej. Ten słynny ojciec Kościoła, pamiętający jeszcze krwawe prześladowania chrześcijan, jako biskup musiał bronić doktryny chrześcijańskiej przez cały okres swojej posługi. Działał on w czasie, gdy niejaki Ariusz propagował teorię, zgodnie z którą Chrystus jest bytowo podporządkowany Bogu Ojcu. Święty Atanazy, zwalczając tę herezję, okazał się wielkim propagatorem Soboru Efeskiego i jego dogmatycznych orzeczeń. Autor nie koncentruje się na analizie tekstów źródłowych św. Atanazego, ale stara się ukazać cały kontekst i tło działalności biskupa Aleksandrii. W swojej mariologii św. Atanazy bronił prawdy o wcieleniu, które potwierdza prawdziwe bóstwo i prawdziwe człowieczeństwo Chrystusa. Wspominał także o Matce Bożej (Theotókos) i wychwalał dziewictwo Maryi. Podsumowując, możemy powiedzieć, że mariologii św. Atanazego należy szukać w jego chrystologii, ponieważ jest to główny przedmiot jego nauczania.
The aim of the article is to look at the writing activity of Saint Athanasius the Great, the bishop of Alexandria (296–373). We will examine his writings in terms of Mariology. This famous Father of the Church, remembering the bloody persecution of Christians, had to defend Christian doctrine as a bishop during whole his life. For it was a time when a certain Arius propagated the theory according to which Jesus Christ is subordinate to God the Father. He was also a great propagator of the teaching of the Council of Ephesus. We do not focus on the analysis of source texts, but on showing the whole context and background of activity of the Bishop of Alexandria. During his ministry he struggled with the heresy of Arianism. In his Mariology, Saint Athanasius defended the truth of the Incarnation, which confirms the true Divinity and true humanity of Christ. He spoke about the Mother of God (Theotókos), and he praised Mary’s virginity. In conclusion, we can say that the Mariology of St. Athanasius should be sought in his Christology, because this is the main subject of his writings.

Opis:: Francis is a Marian Pope. His six-year-long pontificate so far has resulted in a large number of speeches dedicated to Mary (about 130). The repetitiveness of certain themes and expressions allows us to speak about the specificity of his Mariology and to bring out new and original themes. The article does this in two points. The first concerns the methodology of the Francis’ Mariology. It is a “Mariology in context,” salvific-historical, respecting the principle of nexus mysteriorum. Its loci theologici are the Bible, interpreted in its entirety; conciliar Mariology; theologia mentis and theologia cordis, which is born out of religious experience. It has an eminently pastoral colour. The second point, out of a broad thematic range, distinguishes the statements concerning Mary which are close to Francis: The Mother of God – a synthesis of grace and faith; Mary – the personal concretization of the Church; Hodegetria – the first and perfect disciple of Christ; the Handmaid of man; the Icon and Mother of Mercy; the Star of the New Evangelization; the Queen of tenderness.
Franciszek jest papieżem maryjnym. Jego dotychczas sześcioletni pontyfikat owocuje sporą liczbą wypowiedzi poświęconych Maryi (ok. 130). Powtarzalność pewnych tematów oraz wyrażeń pozwala mówić o specyfice jego mariologii i wydobywać wątki nowe i oryginalne. Artykuł czyni to w dwóch punktach. Pierwszy dotyczy metodologii Franciszkowej mariologii. Jest ona „mariologią w kontekście”, historiozbawczą, respektującą zasadę nexus mysteriorum. Jej loci theologici są Biblia, odczytywana w całości; mariologia soborowa; theologia mentis i theologia cordis, która rodzi się z religijnego doświadczenia. Posiada ona zabarwienie wybitnie pastoralne. Drugi punkt spośród obszernej skali tematycznej wypowiedzi o Maryi wyróżnia te, które są bliskie Franciszkowi: Matka Boga – synteza łaski i wiary; Maryja – osobowa konkretyzacja Kościoła; Hodegetria – pierwsza i doskonała uczennica Chrystusa; Służebnica człowieka; Ikona i Matka miłosierdzia; Gwiazda nowej ewangelizacji, Królowa czułości.
