W mojej pracy postawiłem sobie za cel zbadanie wpływu prezydentury Donalda Trumpa i jego polityki antyimigracyjnej, ale również wpływów na arenie lokalnej jak i międzynarodowej jakie przyniosła rozbudowa muru. Zbadałem nie tylko głosy ludności meksykańskie w stosunku do rozbudowy muru i działań Trumpa, które miały za zadanie wyeliminować nielegalne ruchy imigracyjne, ale również stosunek głosów ludności innych narodowości za kandydatura Trumpa, oraz jego ówczesnej opozycjonistki Hillary Clinton. Dodatkowo w mojej pracy znalazły się statystyki, omawiające działania Donalda Trumpa na Twitterze, częstotliwość postów, które zamieszczał oraz statystyki najczęściej przez niego używanych słów. Dużą część mojej pracy poświęcona została murowi granicznemu. Zamieściłem w niej rozrachunek kosztów planowanych przez Trumpa i jego urzędników, oraz kosztorys wykonany przez niezależnych ekspertów. Dodatkowo zbadałem firmy, które brały w nim udział i wygrały przetarg na rozbudowę lub zastąpienie starych elementów muru nowymi elementami. Wykonałem analizę części składowych z jakich ma się składać mur oraz przez jakie stany ma on przechodzić. Przyjrzałem się efektom tamtejszą ludność, faunę i florę, jakie wywołała budowa muru, i jego dalsza ekspansja. W swojej pracy, postanowiłem również zasięgnąć do burzliwej historii Meksyku i USA, aby móc lepiej zrozumieć dzisiejsze relacje między tymi krajami, oraz obecną linię graniczną, która dzieli oba te państwa.33
In my work, I set out to examine the impact of Donald Trump's presidency and his anti-immigration policies, but also the effects locally and internationally that the expansion of the wall has had. I examined not only the votes of the Mexican population toward the expansion of the wall and Trump's actions to eliminate illegal immigration movements, but also the attitude of the votes of the population of other nationalities in favor of Trump's candidacy, and that of his then opposition Hillary Clinton. In addition, my work included statistics discussing Donald Trump's Twitter activities, the frequency of the posts he made, and statistics on the words he used most often. A large part of my work was devoted to the border wall. I included a breakdown of the costs planned by Trump and his officials, and a cost estimate by independent experts. In addition, I researched the companies that participated and won the bid to expand or replace the old elements of the wall with new ones. I made an analysis of the elements of which the wall is to be composed, and through which states it is to pass. I looked at the effects on indigenous people, flora and fauna caused by the construction of the wall, and its further expansion. In my work, I also decided to dig into the turbulent history of Mexico and the U.S. in order to have a better understanding of today's relations between the two countries, and the current border line that divides them.

Niniejsza praca porusza kwestię meksykańskiej tożsamości w Cielos de la Tierra Carmen Boullosy. Pierwsza część wyjaśnia historyczne i społeczne uwarunkowania problemu meksykańskiej tożsamości narodowej i opisuje jej ujęcie w dyskursie filozoficznym i eseistycznym. Drugą część rozpoczyna prezentacja Carmen Boullosy i jej twórczości. Kolejno powieść Cielos de la Tierra zostaje umieszczona w kontekście literackim i następuje analiza sposobu przedstawienia w niej historii i heterogenicznej struktury społeczeństwa Meksyku. Jako ostatnia podkreślona zostanie wartość przyrody w procesie budowania tożsamości.
The thesis presents the problem of the Mexican identity in Carmen Boullosa's Cielos de la Tierra. The first part explains the historical and social circumstances of the issue of Mexican national identity and describes the presence of this concept in philosophical and essayistic discourse. Then follows a presentation of Carmen Boullosa and her work. Subsequently, the novel Cielos de la Tierra is placed in a certain literary context. Then, the manner of the presentation of history and the heterogeneous structure of society in Carmen Boullosa's novel is analysed. Finally, the value of nature in the concept of identity is emphasised.
El presente trabajo aborda el tema de la identidad mexicana en Cielos de la Tierra de Carmen Boullosa. En la primera parte se explican las circunstancias histórico-sociales del problema de la identidad nacional mexicana y se describe la presencia del dicho concepto en el discurso filosófico y ensayístico. A continuación, se lleva a cabo la presentación de Carmen Boullosa y su obra. Además, se ubica Cielos de la Tierra en el contexto literario. Luego, se analiza la manera de la presentación de la historia y la estructura heterogénea de la sociedad en la novela de Carmen Boullosa. Por último, se subraya el valor de la naturaleza en el concepto de la identidad.

Anna Gryglaszewska in the article Mexico haunted by history (“Las paredes hablan” by Carmen Boullosa) offers an analysis of historiographical meta-novel written by a contemporary Latin American writer. Carmen Boullosa, using the theme of haunting of the present by the past, returns to some dramatic events in the history of her homeland which had a huge impact on the lives of many generations of her compatriots. The beginning of the Mexican’s war for the independence from Spain and the bloody and full of victims revolution of 1910 are, without a doubt, the facts that have shaped the Mexican identity. Boullosa, telling the story of an impossible love three times, reinterpretated of these events, making them an important background for the action of heroes of this novel. Gryglaszewska, analyzing the novel, argues that the myth, understood by Mircea Eliade as a story rooted in the collective unconscious of humanity, serves as a base for Boullosa’s fiction pivoted around the history of Mexico. According to the Aztec mythology, gods, so that the world could exist, demand human blood. This is the reason why the bloody history of the writer’s homeland is marked by the stigma of suffering.
