Opis:: This report discusses the ways in which Muslim communities form in Poland, with particular emphasis on the role of migrant men and women from Muslim countries, broken down into activities carried out mainly by women and mainly by men. The division of activities sometimes goes beyond the patterns of Muslim communities in other countries. The specificity of the Muslim community in Poland is related to: the historical context of the origins of its creation, i.e. the presence of Polish Tatars, a small number of Muslims living in Poland, and their diversity in terms of countries of origin.

Opis:: The concept of Jadidism - the reform movement among Muslims in the Russian Empire - at the turn of the nineteenth and twentieth centuries and to the present day has beeen of interest to researchers. Scientists discuss it not only the issues of terminology, but also in regard to determining the exact date of the occurrence of this phenomenon and determining its most important stages. Representatives of this movement have been recorded on the pages of history, and their achievements today are an extremely rich source for analysis, mainly due to the ideas they proclaim, which at the turn of the centuries were courageous, and sometimes innovative. The article aims to present the concept of Jadidism in the context of socio-religious changes among the Muslim (Tatar) community in the Russian Empire at the turn of nineteenth and twentieth centuries.
Концепция джадидизма – реформистского движения мусульман Российской империи, возникла в конце девятнадцатого – начале двадцатого веков, и по сей день вызывает большой интерес среди научного сообщества. Ученые обсуждают не только вопросы терминологии, но также пытаются установить точную дату возникновения этого явления и выделить важные стадии его развития. Представители этого движения оставили свой след на страницах истории. Их достижения сегодня представляют собой неиссякаемый источник для исследований, в основе которого лежат продвигаемые ими идеи, оказавшиеся смелыми, а порой даже инновационными. В рамках данной статьи концепция джадидизма представлена в контексте социально-религиозных изменений в мусульманской (татарской) общине Российской империи на рубеже девятнадцатого-двадцатого веков.

Opis:: The development of the Muslim religion in the Russian Federation is undoubtedly a very important and, at the same time, interesting element influencing the contemporary socio-political situation in Russia. One of the most important components of religious revival in this country was the change in the Russian Muslims’ attitude to issues related to religiosity. In the conditions of religious pluralism, Muslims in Russia, scientists, thinkers, and publicists often refer to the intellectual output of Russian Muslim socio-political activists whose activity took place at the turn of the 19th and 20th centuries. The article aims to show how the jadidism movement is being received in contemporary Russia. Nowadays, the ideas of jadidism are also the pretext for discussing the nature of Russian Islam and its future.
Развитие ислама на территории Российской Федерации, вне всякого сомнения, представляет собой весьма важную, и, в то же время, довольно интересную область, оказывающую влияние на ход социо-культурных процессов в современной России. Одной из наиболее важных составляющих процесса религиозного возрождения в этой стране стало изменение отношения к религиозности среди российских мусульман. Учёные, мыслители, публицисты и мусульмане России в условиях религиозного многообразия зачастую ссылаются на работы видных мусульманских социально-политических деятелей конца XIX-начала XX века. Цель данной статьи состоит в том, чтобы показать как движение джадидизм воспринимается в современной России. Сегодня идеи джадидизма зачастую служат поводом обсудить и углубиться в изучение сущности ислама в России и его развития в будущем.

Opis:: At present, the Muslim community in the Russian Federation grows in importance and strength. The religious freedom, which came as a result of the democratic transformation that took place in the Russian Federation in the late 1980s and early 1990s opened the opportunity for its Muslim residents to develop their own culture, educational system and administrative structure. The freedom of religion was one of the most important elements of perestroika and one of the directions of Russia’s development following the transformation. Here, the freedom of religion can be considered as both an element of liberalization of the Soviet regime, and, after the break-up of the USSR, as a step towards democratization. The article aims to present the most important legal acts and documents that constitute the legal basis for the functioning of Muslims in the contemporary Russian Federation.
В настоящее время мусульмане на территории Российской Федерации становятся все более крупным и влиятельным сообществом. В ходе процесса перестройки в СССР зародилась свобода вероисповедания. Этот процесс можно считать результатом либерализации в рамках советского режима, и элементом демократизации, если говорить о современной России. Возрождение религиозной жизни за последние двадцать лет привело к значительным изменениям среди мусульманской общины России. В статье рассматриваются важнейшие правовые акты и документы, которые составляют правовую основу функционирования мусульман в Российской Федерации.

Opis:: The religious freedom resulting from the democratic transformation in Russia in the late 1980s and early 1990s created an opportunity for Muslim people living there to develop their own culture, educational system and administrative structure. Islam has also become one of the four traditional religions of Russia. The process of the “Islamic Renaissance” in Russia has led the Muslim community, in particular the Tatars, to look back and take advantage of the historical experience and achievements of Tatar theological thought in order to utilize it in the process of building the identity of Russian Muslims. In recent years, the most visible element of this process has been an attempt to rethink the concept of Jadidism – the reform movement among Muslims in the Russian Empire at the turn of the nineteenth and twentieth centuries. One of the most important figures of this movement was Musa Jarullah Bigiev, a religious scholar, politician, and writer. His works relate to fields such as Islamic jurisprudence, politics, history, law, and economics. The article aims to outline the political thought of Musa J. Bigiev, as expressed in his most significant work Alphabet of Islam, written in 1920.

Opis:: Scholars have identified a range of factors that influence the ability of researchers to access hard-toreach groups and the willingness of their members to participate in research. In this paper, we draw on insights from both ethnographic methods and participatory action research to demonstrate the importance of building trust in our relationships with hard-to-reach participants in research based on interviews. Such trust-building, we show, is greatly facilitated by pre-recruitment immersion that aids not only the recruitment of individual participants but also improves the quality of the data collected. These methodological concerns emerged from an interview study focusing on Muslim women’s use of urban public recreational spaces in South-East Michigan. Although the first author of this paper, as a woman and a Muslim, is a formal insider in the study population, her experiences with recruitment demonstrate that the access granted by insider status is insufficient as grounds for a research relationship based on trust. This is so especially when the target population is as marginalized and embattled as the post 9/11 immigrant Muslim community. With more than two years of community immersion, however, she was able to foster enough trust to secure a large number of committed participants that spoke freely and thoughtfully about the issues at stake (78 in all).

Opis:: Europa od setek lat jest jednym z głównych celów podróży dla przedstawicieli różnych ras, religii i kultur, będąc drugim co do wielkości ośrodkiem światowych migracji. Szczególną rolę we współczesnej fali imigracji do Europy odgrywają przybysze z krajów muzułmańskich. Ich coraz bardziej widoczna obecność na Starym Kontynencie sprawiła, że imigracja muzułmańska jest obecnie jednym z najbardziej palących tematów we współczesnym dyskursie międzynarodowym i społecznym. Exodus muzułmanów stał się bowiem wyzwaniem dla polityk integracyjnych i tożsamości narodowej w wielu państwach Europy Zachodniej. W niniejszej pracy szczególną rolę przywiązano do kulturowych i społecznych skutków imigracji muzułmanów do Europy, wpływających na poczucie tożsamości narodowej obywateli państw europejskich. Rozprawa rozpoczyna się kompleksowym zdefiniowaniem pojęcia migracji ze szczególnym uwzględnieniem i scharakteryzowaniem imigracji muzułmańskiej. Następnie, analizie poddane zostały zróżnicowane polityki integracyjne trzech państw europejskich: Francji, Niemiec i Wielkiej Brytanii. Ostatnia część pracy poświęcona została zagadnieniu tożsamości w dobie zderzenia dwóch odmiennych kultur: kultury europejskiej, zakorzenionej w chrześcijaństwie i kultury islamu. W podsumowaniu przedstawiono wpływ imigracji wyznawców religii Mahometa do Europy na kształtowanie się tożsamości indywidualnej i zbiorowej Europejczyków, zwracając szczególną uwagę na konieczność jej redefinicji w stale zmieniającej się rzeczywistości społecznej.
Since hundreds of years, Europe has been one of the main aims of journey for people from different races, religions and cultures, being the second largest migration centre all around the world. A distinctive role, in current migration wave to the Europe, play newcomers from Muslim countries. Their more and more visible presence on the Old Continent makes Muslim immigration one of the most hot topics in the international and social discourse. The Exodus of Muslim population became a real challenge to the integration policy and the national identity in many West European countries. In presented thesis, particular role was given to cultural and social results of the believers of Islam immigration to the Europe, affecting the sense of national identity of European countries citizens. Thesis starts from comprehensive definition of migration with distinctive consideration and characterization of Muslim immigration. Afterwards, there have been analysed differential integration policies of the three European countries: France, Germany and Great Britain. The last part of the thesis is devoted to the issue of identity in the age of clashing two distinct cultures: European one, rooted in Christianity and culture of Islam. In the summary, there has been presented an impact of the Muhammad’s religion believers immigration to the Europe on shaping individual and collective Europeans’ identity, pointing out the necessity of its redefinition in continuously changing social reality.
