Opis:: The presented article takes into consideration an important and multifacto-rial problem – morality related to legislation process. The issue of distinguishing law from morality is considered on the level of differences between legal and ethical norms. Among many different concep-tions and disputes, within this article were presented only the main aspects of relation between law and morality. The mentioned issue was also described within several Polish case studies. Apart from notional relations of law and morality, there exist very strong real relations between undertaken factors. Finally authors of this article show, that morality strong rule can be crucial for law legislation and its further inter-pretation.

Submultiplicative norms on matrix spaces

Opis:: This master thesis focuses on both simple and advanced properties of special types of norms on matrix spaces.The first chapter contains definitions of the s-norm (submultiplicative norm, equal to 1 for identity), the i-norm (norm induced by the norm on the basis space) and the compatible norm. This part of the work presents simple properties and examples both positive and negative.The key theorem of the second chapter is the fact that the induced norm is identical with the compatible norm. The results in this chapter apply to general normed spaces.The third chapter collects results describing various properties of s-norms on matrix spaces. In particular, we show that every s-norm on the space of square matrices is in a way generated by an i-norm over larger square matrices.In chapter four there is an extended example of an s-norm for which all the norms with which it is compatible are multiples of each other, and yet it is not an i-norm. In addition, we include a method for constructing examples of s-norms that are not i-norms.
Niniejsza praca magisterska skupia się zarówno na prostych jak i na zaawansowanych własnościach specjalnych typów norm na przestrzeniach macierzy. Pierwszy rozdział zawiera definicje s-normy (normy submultiplikatywnej, równej 1 dla identyczności), i-normy (normy indukowanej przez normę na przestrzeni bazowej) oraz normy kompatybilnej. Ta część pracy przedstawia proste własności i przykłady zarówno pozytywne jak i negatywne.Kluczowym twierdzeniem drugiego rozdziału jest fakt mówiący o tożsamości normy indukowanej z normą kompatybilną. Rezultaty z tego rozdziału dotyczą ogólnych przestrzeni unormowanych.Rozdział trzeci gromadzi rezultaty opisujące rozmaite własności s-norm na przestrzeniach macierzy. W szczególności pokazujemy, że każda s-norma na przestrzeni macierzy kwadratowych jest w pewien sposób generowana przez i-normę na przestrzeni macierzy kwadratowych większego rozmiaru.W rozdziale czwartym znajduje się rozbudowany przykład s-normy, dla której wszystkie normy, z jakimi jest ona kompatybilna, są swoimi krotnościami, a mimo to nie jest ona i-normą. Ponadto zamieszczamy w nim metodę konstrukcji przykładów s-norm niebędących i-normami.

In this work, solutions for legal change of norm were discussed in terms of legal theory. Intertemporal issues and operation of law in time were presented. Legal and theoretical aspects of rules and intertemporal methods such as: tempus regit actum, lex retro non agit, direct operation of new law and continued operation of law were portrayed.

Opis:: A notion of weak invertibility in a unital associative algebra A and a corresponding notion of strong spectrum of an element of A is defined. It is shown that many relationships between the Jacobson radical, the group of invertibles and the spectrum have analogues relating the strong radical, the set of weakly invertible elements and the strong spectrum. The nonunital case is also discussed. A characterization is given of all (submultiplicative) norms on A in which every modular maximal ideal M ⊆ A is closed.

Within the framework of this approach the σ-entropy of input signals and the σ-entropy norm of systems are introduced. Opis:: The article is an analysis of the language of legal norms in the context of its cognitive value, with an assumption that currently created norms are gradually deprived of their intelligibility towards the norm’s addressees, being in fact addressed directly to lawyers. Moreover, authors claim that there is a growing trend in the lawmaking process to create law which, in order to be applied, needs to be supplied with information from other genres of knowledge, external to law. In order to describe this phenomenon they introduce a new term, the “specialized norm”, and, through investigation of specific legal cases, they prove significance of the issue. By means of concepts deriving from philosophy of law and theory of language, the paper points out a strengthening tendency in legislative process, which forces one to ask themselves certain basic questions of nature and purpose of the law.

Opis:: The article discusses the question of syntactic norm of legal acts on the background of the syntactic norm of the standard language. After the presentation of the relationship between the syntactic norm of legal acts and the norm of the standard language, especially its model variety, the author continues to describe the selected syntactic features testifying to a specific character of the observed norm. The examples given furnish evidence for quantitative and qualitative differences between the standard and the professional norm. Two research postulates can be put forward as a result of the conducted analyses. The first one, of general nature, concerns efforts which would be aimed at the new presentation of the position of the professional norm in the norm of the standard Polish language. The second postulate refers to the studies of the legal language which should be expanded by embracing the problems concerning the codification of a syntactic norm.

Opis:: Rich and comprehensive academic oeuvre of Professor Zaręba is a result of his research carried not only in the fi elds of dialectology, onomastics, lexicography and lexicology but also sociolinguistics, the last being the subject of the present paper. Alfred Zaręba’s deep interest in sociolinguistics was a consequence of his careful observations of the changes taking place in the contemporary language, analysed by him not merely from the perspective of the system itself but, above all, in the wide context of social and cultural factors. One of these issues was the linguistic norm, and precisely, its considerable loosening. He was also interested in the problem of so called literary “micro-languages”, both in Poland and abroad. His academic intuition turned out to be right as these phenomena belong to the most crucial research fi elds at present.
