Opis:: In my thesis I put emphasis on the problem of protection and preservation of historic urban cemeteries and the factors on which their success depends. I describe the history of the Old Cemetery in Rzeszów, analize the attempts of its protection and try to depict its historic and artistic value. Afterwards I write about the dangers and offer ways of further preservation of the cemetery.
W mojej pracy starałam się zwrócić szczególną uwagę na kwestię ochrony i zachowania zabytkowych cmentarzy miejskich oraz czynników, od których zależy ich powodzenie. Opisuję historię Starego Cmentarza w Rzeszowie, analizuję dotychczasowe próby jego ochrony i staram się nakreślić jego wartość historyczną i artystyczną. Następnie opisuję zagrożenia i przedstawiam sposoby na dalszą ochronę cmentarza.

Opis:: The Old Cemetery in Lodz is one of the few necropolis on which the followers of three Christian denominations were buried: Catholics, Protestants and Orthodox. It is an unquestionable tourist attraction of the city, and its sightseeing may have a well-considered character, eg. according to selected criteria or random in the form of a walk. People who go to this historic cemetery may have certain preferences as to visiting it in one day. Many well-known personalities were buried in the cemetery: science, culture, city self-government, soldiers, doctors, social activists and others. Thanks to the collected spatial information (location of the tombstone) and non-spatial information (biography, photographs), you can use the opportunities offered by Geographic Information Systems to support the decision of tourists. The article presents an app created jointly by fancies of the Old Cemetery in Lodz and geoinformation specialists who decided to help visitors to the Old Cemetery in Lodz. They can choose tombstones according to personal preferences and plan the tour route, as well as familiarize themselves with the biographies and photographs of people who were buried in this cemetery. It has educational value and city promotion.
Stary Cmentarz w Łodzi jest jedną z nielicznych nekropolii, na której pochowano wyznawców trzech wyznań chrześcijańskich: katolików, protestantów i prawosławnych. Jest on niewątpliwą atrakcją turystyczną miasta, a jej zwiedzanie może mieć przemyślany charakter, np. według wybranych kryteriów lub losowy w postaci spaceru. Osoby wybierające się na ten zabytkowy cmentarz, mogą mieć pewne preferencje co do jego zwiedzania w ciągu jednego dnia. Na cmentarzu pochowano wiele znanych osobistości: nauki, kultury, samorządu miasta, żołnierzy, lekarzy, społeczników i innych. Dzięki zebranym informacjom przestrzennym (lokalizacja nagrobka) oraz aprzestrzennym (biografia, fotografie) można wykorzystać możliwości jakie dają Systemy Informacji Geograficznej do wspomagania decyzji turystów. Artykuł przedstawia proces powstawania aplikacji stworzonej wspólnie przez miłośników Starego Cmentarza w Łodzi, pracowników Muzeum Miasta Łodzi oraz specjalistów geoinformacji, którzy postanowili pomóc odwiedzającym Stary Cmentarz w Łodzi. Mogą oni wybrać nagrobki według osobistych preferencji i zaplanować trasę zwiedzania, a także zapoznać się z biogramami i fotografiami postaci, które zostały pochowane na tym cmentarzu. Ma ona walor edukacyjny i promocji miasta.

Opis:: Zabytkowe cmentarze są świadectwem dziedziczonej z pokolenia na pokolenie pamięci o przodkach. Niestety, część z nich została w XX w. zdewastowana i ograbiona z wielu elementów kamiennej architektury nagrobnej. Do tej grupy założeń należy stary cmentarz w Biłgoraju, w województwie lubelskim, założony przed końcem XVIII w. Jego użytkowanie zakończono około 1880 r., ale prawne zamknięcie nastąpiło dopiero w 1959 r. W ciągu kilkudziesięciu lat pozbawiony opieki cmentarz uległ tak daleko posuniętej degradacji, że w 1982 r. zarejestrowano tylko trzy nieuszkodzone wolno stojące nagrobki kamienne; pozostałe przetrwały jedynie we fragmentach. Zniszczeniu uległa też część drzewostanu. W 1977 r. cmentarz został wpisany do rejestru zabytków, dziesięć lat później powstało założenie projektowe lapidarium. Próby ratowania biłgorajskiego cmentarza zbiegły się z czasem ogólnej dyskusji na temat stanu zachowania nekropolii w Polsce i szybko postępującego ich niszczenia, zarówno przez wandali, jak i wskutek decyzji władz administracyjnych, nakazujących likwidację tych już nieużytkowanych. Na przykładzie biłgorajskiego założenia autor starał się pokazać wieloletni proces powojennej destrukcji jednej z tych nekropolii, które bez uszczerbku przetrwały czasy okupacji hitlerowskiej.
Old cemeteries are evidence of the memory about ancestors inherited throughout generations. Sadly, in the 20th century, some of them were devastated and robbed of many elements of stone tomb architecture. In this group is the old cemetery in Biłgoraj, Lublin Voivodeship, established in the late 18th century. Its use was discontinued ca. 1880. However, it was not legally closed until 1959. Within several decades, without care, the cemetery fell into such advanced degradation that in 1982 only three undamaged, free-standing tombstones were registered; others survived only in fragments. Some of the trees were destroyed as well. In 1977, the cemetery was entered into the register of historic sites; ten years later, the design of a lapidarium was created. Attempts to save the Biłgoraj cemetery coincided with general discussion on the state of conservation of necropolises in Poland and their quickly advancing degradation, both by vandals and as a result of decisions made by administrative authorities who order liquidation of the disused ones. On the example of the Biłgoraj complex, the author attempted to illustrate the years-long process of post-war destruction of one of these necropolises, which survived the period of Nazi occupation without harm.

Opis:: The article concerns tree stand of the Old Cemetery at Ogrodowa street in Lodz. Circumferences of trees at breast height in the main avenue have been measured. Also circumferences of other old trees in the cemetery and two other cemeteries have been measured. Value of tree stand in the Old Cemetery has been assessed. Assessment of the area and tree stands of former cemeteries in the Lodka valley has been done. Positon and time of foundation of cemeteries in relation to the Lodka River is presented in the paper. The article covers size and distance of cemeteries from the oldest part of agricultural Lodz.

Opis:: W Pilicy znajdują się ruiny domu powstałego po dewastacji starego cmentarza żydowskiego. Do konstrukcji ścian użyto nagrobków żydowskich z pierwszej połowy XIX w., być może nawet starszych. Ruina jest przykładem przestępstwa kradzieży nagrobków popełnionego kilkadziesiąt lat temu. W chwili obecnej budynek wymaga rozebrania, a zabytkowe nagrobki stosownego potraktowania i zabezpieczenia przez służbę konserwatorską.
In Pilica there are ruins of a house which was constructed a\er an old Jewish cemetery was devastated. The Jewish sepulchral stones dating back to the first half of the 19th century or even earlier ones were used to construct the walls of the house. The ruins are an example of the crime of theft that was committed a few dozen of years ago. Currently the building should be pulled down and the historic sepulchres should undergo appropriate treatment and preservation by the conservatory services.

The investigations covered a settlement mostly from the Old Kingdom period found in trench T5; more specifically, the investigated features seem primarily connected with food production. Settlement remains from the Naqada III–possibly Early Dynastic and Protodynastic(?) periods were also explored in trench S3B. Continued research on the Early Dynastic cemetery in trench S3 yielded 16 more graves, including simple pit burials and chamber graves. In several cases bodies had been placed in pottery coffins. The presence of several mud-brick walls, possibly associated with older settlement structures, was also confirmed within the lattermost trench. Altogether the research provided new data on the settlement architecture, site development processes and burial customs invoked in the beginnings of the Egyptian state.
